7 day conventions?
by HereIgo indid any of you attend the old school week long conventions?
i have heard stories and it seems like these were mostly in the 70's and 80's before my time.
i couldn't imagine.

I was a 3 year old toddler dragged along to the 1969 International District Convention at Wembley Stadium which I believe would have been a eight day job with evening sessions as well !

Hearing voices, not always caused by demons.
by lancelink inmy wife and i for the past three months have been caring for a teenage girl who was abused by her parents.
she stole a car to get away, and living in prison was a welcome relief for her.
she was in prison for four years, and the state was going to release her, but she would not go back home.. a co-worker teacher that my wife knows told us the situation, and we agreed o help the girl get back on her feet.. well, she dealt with abuse from all aspects 😔, and is pretty messed up in the head from all of that.. but by being in our home, she was safe and was learning how to deal with her problems.

What woke you up?
by MrRoboto infor me, i think it was just the right time as i was starting to wake up on other fronts as well (anyone who had went through these will know what i mean).
but it started when i was looking for what info goes on a publisher card, which led to me reading one person's story (ex bethelite) which was pretty crazy to an all-in jw but who trusts those apostates...?.
then i started watching videos on cults, as if my subconscious was trying to tell my concord mind something... when i saw a particular one about a young man in lds getting ready to start their 2 year preaching campaign, including a school, social activities etc, i realized that i couldn't tell the difference between the folks of this mormon cult and the jws (save for some religious differences) .

I've often quoted it but it was the Waco siege in April 1993 , the siege made huge news worldwide, there were TV documentaries covering it, it made the newspapers for weeks afterwards and even radio shows, but this was the first time I'd heard "cults" being spoke about in general terms for the first time especially jw's, my fade began almost immediately, an actual local radio phone in show here in London put out an appeal for anyone that is concerned about "cults" to phone the number at the end of the show, the rest they say is history!

the demise of printing literature in the u.k. is being brought forward by one year - to march 2018. graphic design and printing support will go too.
large numbers of "disposable" bethelites will now have to make their own way in the world, when their "mother" abandons them.

if a speaker came in wearing anything but white they were brought into the library and were given a white shirt!

we had one of the biggest dickhead of a PO you could ever hope to meet, special pioneered straight from school, a CO in his early 20's, a born in, never any experience of life in the real world, you name it he had a rule for it, hated all forms of sport,socialising, a SN talk was given after a group went to see Dirty Dancing, the usual white shirt for visiting speakers but not only that they had to be up to a certain speaking standard otherwise they were not invited back, IIRC we had two SN talks to rectify the issues that the public talks of the proceeding weeks visiting speakers, loved compiling the evidence against me for my JC absolutely loved it and couldn't assassinate my character quick enough in the JC

dont see it myself, far too much to lose, dont even see it with the "higher ups" in the other sub committees either,they've seen with their own eyes the turmoil of other bethleites booted out with nothing and having to make their way in the world.
