Have any ex-jws considered joining the Bible Students?
by Rainbow_Troll intheir fundamental beliefs are much like jehovah's witnesses sans the paranoia, authoritarianism, stifling rules, and end-times enthusiasm.
you don't even have to become a bible student to be saved, you could be an idol worshipping heathen and still get resurrected in the milenium.
if i still believed in the divine inspiration of the scriptures, i would be a bible student.

I think the boredom of studying Russel's crap week after week would make me lose the will! , the exjw friend of mine who helped me leaving all those years back was heavily into it and was a member Of The Layman's Home Missionary Movement, he is now a Mormon! SBF I believe there are two LHMM congregations in London I think the Dawn Movement have a little more plus one in Manchester, plus they have an annual convention

Around 100 billion people have died
by Funchback inaccording to some, the earth may have 10 billion people living on it by the end of this century.
there is genuine concern about space and resources.. imagine, then, 100 billion people being resurrected to live on earth.
some jws will argue that not everyone will be resurrected to earth, including 144,000. imagine 50 billion then, assuming that half of the people who ever lived did something so horrific that they aren't deemed worthy to be resurrected.. jws who are lurking and reading this: where are they going to live?

my research has led me to believe that there are far more than that, how about 500 billion? the notion of that figure alone and let alone the fantasy of just the resurrection makes the mind boggle. These so called new scrolls dont take into account that the resurrection is to take place on Earth, I always thought about population of other earth like planets but that is even more ridiculous, they are stuck with the problem of the sustainability of how the earth will cope with these hundreds of billions!

Was the ransom premature? Shouldn't the effects of Adamic sin have been reversed at the time of Jesus' death?
by deegee inif the ransom was paid at the time of jesus' death (mark 15:45, matthew 20:28, 1 timothy 2:6, hebrews 2:9), then why weren't the effects of adamic sin (sickness & death) reversed at that time?.
it seems to me that either:- the payment of the ransom was premature.
- god was not satisfied with the payment of the ransom; it was not sufficient to make up for adam's & eve's so-called "sin".hasn't god extracted enough from mankind as payment for adam's & eve's "sin" given the billions of persons who have lived and died?.

a very poignant question indeed and one that is so unsatisfactorily still unanswered, Theist Christians will still claim the hopeless old chestnut that there is still a sovereignty issue being solved, so billions of mankind still have to suffer because of a dick waving competition between god and the devil? laughable

A Brother refusing to pray?
by HereIgo ini remember there was a brother in my congregation while i was in who would comment at all meetings but if asked to pray at a meeting or meeting for service he would always politely refuse.
i always found it odd, i assumed as a young bro, that a bro was kind of obligated to pray if asked.
knowing what i know now, it could have been a guilty conscience or maybe he just wanted to be lowkey.

I used to hate praying at the KH/book study etc, I bet my prayers sounded crap also, we had a family friend who was a jw for many years but never made the grade, he used to swear like a docker a truley foul mouthed man, he used to love to pray at the meetings though, these uber humble spiritual prays used to ooze from him, I used to laugh to myself quietly, little would the cong have known that particular afternoon I was working with him and he was repeatedly using the F and C word!

How do you feel about the expression "The Truth"?
by stuckinarut2 init's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".
"is he 'in the truth'?".
most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.

it does take a while to shake off this dreadful expression, but it doesn't take long to lose it!

you are partly right FB, we are all either gods people or none of us are, I dont see any scripture that says where god would have an exclusive group of his most favoured people on the Earth now, a truly insane notion, but there are many that do believe so, I ask this and even the WTS and other cults promote this, that since 33CE it is assumed there has been an unbroken line of individuals and groups that have been allegedly part of this exclusive group, who are they? name them? and who is to be the next group?

Jehovah's Limp Witnesses Pointed Me to JW.org When I Was Willing to Talk
by steve2 inseveral months ago i approached a nice young couple who were standing by a jw literature stand in my local community.
they were pleasant and polite but incredibly stilted when it came to answering my "innocent" questions about their beliefs.
this was the occasion of jws featuring the article headlined "is religion dying?".

they did the same to me some time back, I told them their website mentions nothing about their UN membership hence the discussion

sad hearing the comments from the old timers resigned to their deaths in this system and hoping for a resurrection an even more preposterous and insane hope.
