Trust me I know what you mean when it comes to volunteer events "the world" to those "not in the world", but when I was speaking generally when I said "the world". (yeeeeahhhh riiiiight)<---awsnaps thought I know you must be a little stressful right now because you're not a practicing Jehavah's Witnesses or maybe you don't believe the same things you were taught). (or maybe I'm only stressed out when I see idiots make comments about how the world doesn't show thanks during other parts of the year)

She was one of the folks who'd posted something like "how come people in the world don't volunteer and show gratitude except during the 'season of giving'??!" So I said to her that, in my own experience, whenever I volunteer at functions throughout the year, the ratio of those "in the world" vs. those "not in the world" is quite vast.

And we know how jw's just up to the plate to volunteer in the world................those times of the year are when more people are sad and lonely and need help with food....

at our circuit assembly early this month a brother was relating about what he and his family have done to deal with the economy.

he went on to say how theyve cut back and simplified their lives and said they shop at thrift stores.

this past saturday while out in service i was talking with an elder and i brought up what the brother said at the ca and i told him that mom never buys at consignment shops, thrift stores, garage sales, etc.

My mom died

she has past in the last month and i have been trying to decide when i would post this development in my life for privacy reasons.

realizing this is quite ridiculous i am posting it now.

My first "real" Thanksgiving...

do you remember as a jw those pseudo-thanksgiving dinners we used to have?

you know the ones, where we ate turkey, dressing, and all the rest....but we did it on friday so we woudn't be celebrating thanksgiving like the "world"?

the excuse was that everyone in the family was off, the turkey was on sale, blah blah... well this year will be my first real thanksgiving dinner.

opinions are like certain orifices, everyone has one.. it's only if you insist that yours is the only one in the room that counts that you become like certain orifices....... with that in mind, i wish to offer a small but sincere apology to all members of our unique little community on jwn.
