This board moves fast.... btt to try and catch any in the western hemisphere. Anyone ever seen or heard of this book before?

Was there someone in the X-JW community that was working on a book about Rutherfraud? I thought I remember someone saying this on the forum some time ago.

I have been doing some research about Rutherfraud's early days in Missouri as I live very close to where he was born and raised and where he practiced law before his WT days. I have found out some things I have never seen on the net before that may be of interest to anyone who may be working on such a book.

In 1906 C.T. Russell asked J.F. Rutherford to write the book titled "Man's salvation from a Lawyer's viewpint"

This was the very year Joe was baptised. Makes you wonder if Russell threw him this bone to stroke his ego, or pressure him to get baptised. The very next year in 1907 that Joe became legal councel for the WTS while still living in Missouri for three more years before moving to New York.

Has anyone ever seen this book before?

Doubting Thomas - A Real Hero !

have you longed to at least get some response from god, some small indication from him that he really listens, cares, or is just simply there?

the vast majority on this forum have likely struggled with many issues regarding god,

christ, the bible, history, truth, religion, the foundations of christianity, agnosticism, and atheism.

I also have joined the church of St Thomas. We are supposed to have been created in god's image, yet I wonder why is god such a poor communicator?

I think about my own father/son relationships with my children and think how would it be for them if I just hid from them, they never saw me, they never heard my voice, they could talk to me but I never answered, they just had to have faith that I existed and loved them.

If god is love as advertised, I am convinced he would not treat his own children worse than I, an imperfect human would my own sons.

Is it not god's will that we have faith? So for us imortal humans like Thomas who need some proof, would it not be the loving thing on god's part to give us this proof?

Such a simple act could effect millions of people who are searching for god, yet millions are still waiting.

questions from readers

for the past few years the questions from readers in the wt have been pathetic rehashes of old material, or just stupid newbie quetions answered in the pe book.

i know that they must be getting thouands of well thought out questions from sincere readers, yet none of these questions make the column.

i know that this is not surprising to many here.

In the early 1980's there was a QFR that stated that oral sex was wrong. However reading the article in context it was evident that the example they gave was that one partner wanted oral and the other objected.

My wife wrote to the society and ask specificly if it was okay as long as both partners were willing participants and wanted to engage in this expression of love.

NO REPLY!

After reading COC, I realized based on the comments of Ray Franz, that her letter was only one of hundreds on the same subject.

As far as I know, oral between husband and wife, who engage in it willingly is concidered fornication by the WT and you will have your priviliges removed, and DF if you openly advertise that you do this.

an update on bill bowen & his meeting with the wt.....this is an eyeopener and a disgrace on the watchtower:.

i am sitting here looking out the tenth floor window of my watchtower paid for room at the manchester holiday inn.

the events of the day before are difficult to comprehend as i reflect on what happened.

Thanks for pointing that out sKally, I missed it when reading the post. Yes it would be interesting to know how it went.

One problem is that the GB members live such a closed life, never making public comments to press and running everything in writting through legal, it gives them more protection.

You can bet that everything Bill states is on the radar of the WT legal team, including everything he emails out to those on his distribution list and personal comments like this post. You can bet they have signed up to his email list just to get his emails for their use, this makes him a bigger target for the WT in contrast with the tight lipped nature of the WTS. But I am sure this is nothing that Bill does not already know.

So if this law firm has the legal right to call Bill to a deposition with all the doc of his whole life in front of them, as they try to find a way to discredit him. Why can't the other side call the GB members to a deposition and use all the BOE letters and comments about not recording phone conversations at the headquarters as a way to expose their scumbag lies?

I think this also shows that it is important for Bill not to exagerate anything that he does not know to be 100% fact on his site. He could have stated that the man drove a lexus without actually putting a price tag on it. Now he has to defined himself against that statement. I am sure there are Lexus cars that do cost that much so he could use that as his defense.

I do admire Bill's courage going through this!

If there would be a way to get the GB members in a deposition to expose their lies, I would contribute to any fund for that purpose!! Turn the tables on them. Are they above being called to a deposition? Have they ever been called to deposition before?

The WTS, Downsizing and Contributions.

as most of you may have gathered, the past couple of years have seen some major downsizing in wts expenditure, not just overseas but in the us and canada, including the sale of some buildings.

building projects have been shelved, some half-way completed.

every congregation around the world was instructed to upgrade kindgom halls, probably for the purposes of asset protection, as the trustees of khs are only trustees *for* the wts.

: It actually bought in outside accountants *not* JW's who looked at the WTS books and running operations and advised a dramatic restructuring of the WTS, its finances and its corporate structure.

They had to bring in WORLDLY people to give them advice on how to improve the "SPIRIT DIRECTED ORGANIZATION"tm ?

Maybe the holy spirit is really directing these worldly accountents.

The PO and CO visit me....new light!!??

i am just going to have to start keeping my front door closed.

today, i had it open, and there was no way to pretend i wasn't home when the two 'brothers' rang my door bell.

actually, they had been by last saturday, too, but the door was closed that day, and i didn't answer it.

Hey, you should write a letter to the WT headquarters and tell them about your visit, give date, time and names of CO & PO, tell them how much you appreciated the visit and ask them if this "NEW LIGHT" is TRUE(tm) and ask them when you can expect to see this "NEW LIGHT" in an up and comming WT mag.

Sounds like the CO missed his calling & should be in the writing department.
