So our fade is not going so well. Too many people have been asking about us, and therefore giving us attention. We've had no choice but tell select few friends that we're discouraged, and one that we're having a hard time believing the FDS in general.
So this morning we got a call from our PO, who wants to 'talk' today in person. I know they will be picking our brains, and given that both my wife and I won't flat out lie, this could the end for us in the congregation.
So how should I respond? I feel like I need to call him back, because he will keep calling and probably stop by our house. But what do I say so they just leave me alone? All we want is to have people stop hounding us, and prefer to not get DF'd.
Thank for your comments.

What Things Used To Bother Your Conscience?
by minimus ini have to admit that not much actually "bothered" my conscience.
what about you?
?

I never cared about stumbling others. I can only control how I act and feel, and I'm going to act and feel as I honestly am. I always believed in 'what you see is what you get'. So I was never fake. If people didn't like it, too bad. But I wasn't faking anything. I was true to myself.

To elaborate on my comment, to me, 'conscience matter' meant "it's ok" :)

I had no conscience. Not that I did anything 'bad', but I never felt guilt on gray areas. Anything that was a 'conscience matter' I would do :)

I think that Witnesses are simply SO afraid that they are wrong that they prefer to bury their heads in the sand.

JW Refuses to Let Husband have Life-saving Transfusion
by fjtoth injehovahs witness refuses to let husband have life-saving blood transfusionby lucy cockcroft last updated: 6:42 am bst 06/06/2008 the wife of a man who is critically ill in hospital has refused to let doctors give him a life-saving blood transfusion because he is a jehovahs witness.john edwards, 57, suffered severe injuries when a motorist suspected of drink-driving knocked him over and medics have warned he could only have days to live if he does not have the transfusion.. but his wife sheila said he has signed a form banning any blood transfusions in the event of an accident or illness, because their religion forbids it.. it is believed she is rejecting repeated pleas from doctors hoping to change her mind.. the couple's sons, jonathan, 36 and tom, 29, do not share their beliefs and it was unclear last night whether they supported their mother's decision.. a family source said: "sheila is adamant that john must not have blood.
she says giving him a transfusion would be like assaulting him, and he wouldn't want to live knowing he had disobeyed his god.. "she is in a terrible state, constantly in tears at his bedside, but won't give in to requests from anyone.
her sons are both with her but her position hasnt budged.".

Even from the Witness point of view... if he were to have a transfusion, imagine how much more preaching, talks, etc he could do versus being dead due to principle. Isn't life more valuable?

The only reason is to keep personal ties with friends. Hard part is that they don't want to be my friends if I don't go, so I rarely go.

Does anyone know the 2008 Resolutions?
by yknot inour dc isn't for another couple of months.....(i have agreed to two days at the pool only).
i was reviewing the 2006 resolutions (family discussion) in regards to number 5 & 6. http://www.sendspace.com/file/uy054k.
and was hopeful that someone who has attended could scan them in or post them in this thread.. thanks .

Oh my gosh this reminds me of a resolution a few years ago...
The speaker was speaking in a pep-talk style fashion saying "will we avoid fornication", and the crowd shouted "yes", then again, and again.
I was actually embarrassed. It was very weird. Plus really, do you think it actually made anyone stop committing the deed in the future? -

How do you get a non-thinker out?
by Mickey mouse init's really difficult for me to strike up "spiritual" conversations with my husband.
i am far more studious than he is (hence why i'm the one here i guess!!).
his membership in the borg is purely based upon habit and family appeasement.

What got my wife thinking was the history of the organization, specifically Russel and Rutherford. She read the non-'apostate' site Wikipedia, and learned that the history is not as happy and clean as the org says it is. First, Russel way a Pyramidologist, and based many of his ideas off that. Then when Rutherford took over, he change a LOT of Russel's ideas, causing mass exodus. Rutherford lived a rich life as an evangelist. Here are the links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Taze_Russell
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_F._Rutherford
THIS is what started to get my wife thinking and want out.

Quick background... I have 2 kids... and I have seen too many families torn up by this faith...
I think that you should keep the welfare and needs of the kids ahead of religion. The kids deserve to have a relationship with their grandparents. It is not fair to use religion as a reason to not have a relationship.
I would suggest that you be very up-front that they can have the kids, but they should not attend any meetings. You value their relationship, but you do not believe in the faith and since YOU are the parent, you have the right to raise your kid in any religion you want.
If the MIL is in any way reasonable, she should value the relationship far over battling whether she takes them to the Kingdom Hall. And if she makes a big deal of it, she is obviously more interested in brainwashing the kids instead of forming a relationship with them.
