the timing for this cannot be better as the Sandusky trial is going on. i am actually excited, i really think this could be huge. can you imagine if the punitives are big enough to put a small huring on watchtower? that will be awesome. just to see them scurry to try to stop the bleeding.

the wt has been found negligent and ordered to pay $7 million to a vistim of child abuse, plus punitive damages (not yet determined).. the punitive damages may well exceed the $7 million.

i missed that. thanks. WOW, this is great!!!! So that makes 20 million so far the watchtower has to pay out. i wonder how many more cases are currently going on.
now that i think about it, is this the first time the watchtower has officially lose in court? i know the previous ones were settled, and the JW nut job apologists like to pretend that means they were never found guilty.
this changes all that it seems.

if this is recent, isnt this a big deal? i mean, 7 million for 1 victim, no wonder they are selling their property, they are gong to be sued to death.
im reserving my joy until i can confirm that this just happened. anyone know what the deal with this is?

by breakfast of champions into make attendance at my second district convention "mentally out" both a little more bearable and meaningful, i decided to take some notes of key points as if i were an outsider studying the thought reform methods of jehovah's witnesses.
at first, i was only going to share these notes with my therapist, but inspired by the "parsing the watchtower double-speak" thread, i figured i would share my amateur analysis with everyone.
here are some of the highlights:.

i've listened to about half of the convention, and i notice a real sense of desperation this year. almost every talk has a threat that if you dont obey what they are saying, you will die. in addition, they redefine the word petty. in addition to the long list of all the usual stuff you cant do, like video games, movies, full time job, education, etc, and all the stuff you must do like meetings, service, family worship, etc they are now getting so nit picky that even if you are doing everything they demand which is impossible, now you have to do it their way. the "right" way. for example, its now not enough to study your watchtower for the week, you now have to "prepare" to study the watchtower. its not enough now to pray, you now have to "prepare" to pray. its not enough to be out in service, you must now not talk about anything while walking to the doors but theocratic things. and my personal favorite, that had me in tears laughing, its not enough to prepare for the meetings, you now have to "prepare" to prepare for the meetings. LMAO!!! that is pure gold.
there is not a lick of docterine being discussed, docterine went out the window, its now all about behavior and thought control, and obedience to every whim the GB has. many of use see how extreme they are getting, and they will surely get even more extreme, but what i find staggering is the speed in which they are getting extreme, its like almost every month there is something even more extreme than the last. and i havent even talked about the childrens DVD.

they are pushing "theocratic vacations", and make it seem as though its totally unacceptable to take any other type of vacation. they actually consider it a vacation to go to a convention, LOL. and a great example of how screwed up their thinking is was the watchtower a couple years ago with the article about recreation, and their picture of recreation had a girl eating an apple while cleaning the kingdom hall. LOL, clean the kingdom hall is considered recreation, that is insane. in addition on the crack down of recreation the last couple assemblies at talks about fleeing from babylon the great. now, when i was a JW fleeing from babylon the great was fleeing from false relgion, false idols, etc. but now its if a person engages in what they consider too much recreation or relaxing. LMAO
they are getting more extreme by the week.

in the late 90's i was engaged to my ex-fiance. i was at her house and around her family all the time, so i knew all the disfunction that went on. father was an abusive alcholic, of course an elder. her brothers were decent kids, but only did stuff to avoid beatings, etc. anyway, im at an assembly, and out they walk to be interviewed. this was a real eye opener for me, as everything they said i could verify was an outright lie. i could not believe it. so i asked myself, wow, if they lie, who else has lied? also, those parts on the assembly are getting so extreme, that it seems like they dont even care anymore if it sounds plausable.
