The problem isn't all Muslims, its with the Salafi/Wahhabi and the extreme Twelvers in power in Iran. Imagine if the most intolerant forms of Protestantism and Catholicism came to power in Rome and Canterbury. There are anti-extremist Muslims like the Sufis too. In Places like Lebanon and Ethiopia there is a clear Christian/Sunni-Sufi alliance headed by the Ahbash against the Salafis. When you look at some countries in Africa and the former Soviet Union a pattern of Christianization can be seen in spite of thousand dollar Saudi-funded bonuses for conversion to Islam

Why do Christian nations think they can assimilate Muslims into their communities , does Islam attempt to assimilate Christians in their communities ?
by smiddy inislam /muslims today are what christianity was centuries ago , the two beleif systems are like oil and water , not to be mixed .
christians are not tolerated spreading their infectious disease amongst muslims, in islamic countrys , and harsh penalties apply for them doing so in muslim countries , including the death penalty.
stonings , whippings etc.. on the other hand christian nations are very tolerant of muslim extremists who incite hatred and violence on their own territory , and they get a slap on the wrist and say dont do it again .

Don't you remember the Nazirites of the Bible who grow long hair? Or how Ezekiel Would roll in dung? Or how Job tore apart his clothes? Or the Holy Fools of Holy Orthodoxy? God likes deviant if it proves a point. The best clique a daughter could belong to in some communities is a straight-edge punk rocker (no drugs, no fornication, no meat, no alcohol to interfere with doing it yourself and thinking for yourself) who dress ridiculously to make a statement. I feel sorry for people who have been raised to equate peculiarity with wickedness. You have to look at the soul that chose those clothes and why are those clothes not ridiculous to that person. Personally I love the diversity of my great nation, from Cowboys to Homeboys to Punk Rockers to Hippies. Its a shame that Watchtowerdumb blinds souls to such radiance.

"You should grow a beard if you're a man of God (slam)!!!"
by SonoftheTrinity inif jehovah's witnesses are taught the "truth" that people are afraid of men with beards, wouldn't sending them the vibe that clean shaven men are creepy, as indeed they are in some localities on some faces be the best favor you could do them.
imagine if every trinitarian christian told them the same thing instead of engaging in a conversation with them.
in the part of california where i live them telling me that beards are threatening to some people is like those hipsters who attend the "no pants subway ride" on the subway in the middle of winter and then say that it just felt too warm today to be wearing pants.

Well I have a beard, and fortunately my JW wife happens to be from a culture where beards are sacred so she doesn't nag me about it. I have a deformedly weak chin so I really would like a world where the beards are the squares and the clean-shaven are the misfits. Going to District Assemblies where there isn't a single beard to be seen truly creep me out. I finally reached the kids with a music video by the Beards "If your Dad doesn't have a beard you've got 2 moms" which I hope they remember to serenade whosoever god forbid may take my place.

Is College Worth It? Clearly, New Data Say...
by NewYork44M ina new set of income statistics answers those questions quite clearly: yes, college is worth it, and its not even close.
for all the struggles that many young college graduates face, a four-year degree has probably never been more valuable.. here is the article from the new york times:.

Community College and Trade School combined are worth it. The money for University might not be worth it, but the time is. The JWs don't want the youth to have the time to think at a collegiate level, or even to think about what they want in life.

Why so many unbelieving spouses?
by garyneal ini had been thinking about religion and religious services in general and perhaps i am just noticing it more because of my personal involvement but it seems that the jehovahs witness religion tends to have more incidents of mixed marriages where one partner is considered the unbelieving spouse than other religions or churches.
of course, i have not been to church is a while and even when i did go to church i found that there werent as many instances of a spouse going it alone in the church without their partner.
i guess that is partly why i got discouraged in going to church as i felt like i could only bring half my family to it.. the main thing i would like to discuss, though, is why does there seem to be a higher number of mixed marriages within this religion as opposed to other religions.

Men who are already married tend to put a premium on freedom, and mainline churches have a much more indulgent attitude toward dissent. I know Hebrew, Greek, and Classical Ethiopic so there isn't any bald-faced empty suit from the Old Witchtower that can teach me about scripture.

Do they feel as irrelevant as they look? Where I come from it seems like the only American men who don't wear beards are regular beat cops and ex-cons trapped in dead-end jobs. Police and Thieves yo!

What is orthodox Christianity?
by Justin inwe frequently contrast what jehovah's witnesses believe with orthodox christianity (or what they call "christendom").
but what does orthodox christianity look like if allowed to stand on its own, not defending itself from outside attack?
the archbishop of canterbury (rowan williams) recently gave his own description to a group of non-christians - his audience being at the islamic university in islamabad.

Not to be nit-picky but 'orthodox' was spelled with a small o, rather than a big O.
orthodox Christianity, when spelled with a small o, refers to Christianity that corresponds generally to the Athanasian creed. There is little o orthodoxy, and then there are two Big O Orthodoxies. Oriental Orthodoxy and Eastern Orthodoxy....Oriental and Eastern mean the same thing right? Well, so do the the Miaphysite and Diaphysite Formulas of The Person of Christ, for the most part. The first major split in Christianity was long before the filioque clause that divided the Eastern Orthodox from the Roman Catholic. The first church to describe itself as Orthodox as opposed to Catholic was the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt, which excommunicated Roman Catholics after the Council of Chalcedon. While there were secular pressures as well, such as Roman closures of the Egyptian public schools, the Greek language that described the two natures of Christ came across to the Egyptians as describing Christ as having a split personality, one human, the other divine. Since Arius taught that Christ was subordinate rather than co-equal right there in Egypt, causing a great deal of controversy, the Egyptian church could not affirm the Calcedonian doctrine concerning Christ. Thus the Oriental Orthodox, (Egypt, and Armenia, and thus East Africa and Asia) were the first to reject Catholicism and excommunicate the Pope of Rome (We have our own Coptic Pope). The Coptic Egyptians suffered centuries of discrimination later on at the hands of the Muslims, clinging to the doctrine of the Trinity and a divine Christ to this day. I am Oriental Orthodox, or as the Ethiopians say, Tewahedo.

Dating a Disfellowshipped Chick
by SonoftheTrinity ini'm this orthodox christian dating a disfellowshipped jw chick.
my priest says there's hope because she's been disfellowshipped and to give it 6 months.
one minute says she wants to become a citizen, the next minute i tell her that if she does that as an american i would expect her to salute the flag and especially vote if she naturalizes, and then she talks about going back to her own country!!.

That's a great point you brought up, better of days...After my last would be marriage I swore that I would only marry in an Orthodox Church, and I'm standing by it. I don't mind raising another man's kids, as long as there is a spiritual unity between me and the woman. Here there isn't, and I need to give her space to heal from the cult and mature as a believer before it can reach another level.

Expect her to vote...yeah that is arrogant...but everything else...she already had kids so she can stay regardless. I would just feel guilty bringing in one more politically apathetic immigrant into the birthright that my forefathers gave their lives for...I'm no nativist...quite the opposite...its just that I worry about the direction my country is going...
