"Concave guitars for the convex gentleman."
i used to play the guitar quite a bit but haven't practiced seriously for quite a few years (and left my guitar in the uk when we moved over here).. yesterday i decided i should get myself a guitar again so i popped into a music store and had a strum on a few.. the ovation guitars seemed really nice and not too expensive.
does anyone have one or have any experience of them?
i would love the electic one they do that can also sound acoustic but can't really justify spending so much so would probably get a regular wood / round-backed one.. thanks.

Such false prophets tend to put the subject of Bigfoot in disrepute.

Hey insearchoftruth... Along the line of your question about "when did JWs start"...
The WT teaches that the "faithful & discreet slave," that is, an organization of faithful anointed Christians, has been in existence since Pentecost 33 CE. So the obvious question is, who was this slave between the second century and C.T. Russell in the 1870s?
The WTS makes a big deal of the fact that the "slave" had 1900 years of faithful service. OK, so who was this slave all this time? And if this "slave class" was in existence continuously, why did Russell not join it instead of starting his own group? Who was the slave before Russell?
And if Russell's group was the slave, why did Jesus have to make an examination of all religions in 1914-1918? Wouldn't he just continue to let his 1900-year old faithful slave do the work?
And if his slave had proved that faithful, why in 1918 did Jesus think it necessary to punish the slave by sending it into Babylonish captivity? It is paradoxical that at the same moment in time, Jesus is simultaneously approving and punishing for error this slave.
Furthermore, this "punishment" did little good. It did not cause the WTS to turn around from the supposed "sins" that caused the pnuishment. After the WTS leaders were released from prison, they continued to celebrate Christmas, use the cross, condone misuse of blood, etc., for years!
OK you doin't necessarily have to remember all that. But those are issues that WTS leadership has not come up with explanations for.
please send luck my way.
i'm swimming into uncharted waters with tons of technology that scares the s*** out of me!
just follow my avatar and jwd site with over 120 people from here in the group and i'll be there.. it's so new to me.
I've been thinking I should sign up with Facebook for the last year and a half. Guess now I have another reason. Hmmm... do you have to use your real name there?
carm is a great forum for the ex-jw who wants to discuss all aspects of the organization:.
http://www.christiandiscussionforums.org/v/forumdisplay.php?f=28.
shelter is another great forum for in-depth discussions on all jw subjects:.
Thanks sacolton.
There's also a moderated site that allows for debate between JWs and non-JWs, it can get into deep doctrinal issues.

I've been there off and on as WatchTheCanary since 2006... all my best stuff is there (all my worst stuff too).
my mother knows i have lots of issues with the org.
yet she still forwards me this crap as "encouragement".
i love my mother, but i wish i could get through to her that jw's aren't any more special to god than anyone else.
Hmmm how much are we worth to Jehovah? He gave his only begotten son for us, so that makes us priceless, right? Well, let's analyze the situation...
Jehovah is no dummy. He bought in bulk. He went to the Price Club of human souls and purchased, potentially, billions of us for a one-time payment. A payment of what? Two days worth of death by his son.
Not even 48 hours. For the sake of argument, and being generous, we'll say 40 hours of death. That's 144,000 seconds, which I take to mean that the Holy Spirit is blessing my argument here.
If Jah purchased just 1 billion souls with those 144,000 seconds of death, that's little more than 1/10000 of a second of death per each soul eternally saved. Bargain rate, wouldn't you say?
Further, the "death" we are talking about is not "death" in the traditional sense, the primary meaning of which is a permanent state of unconsciousness and inactivity. This was a transient state which, once reversed, was changed not only to life, but to a powerful spirit life in a position of authority over all that exists in the universe.
How much are we worth to Jehovah? The question is, did he even give up anything for us?
updated 3:34 p.m. et aug. 6, 2008new york - if the trends of the past three decades continue, itas possible that every american adult could be overweight 40 years from now, a government-funded study projects.
the figure might sound alarming, or impossible, but researchers say that even if the actual rate never reaches the 100-percent mark, any upward movement is worrying; two-thirds of the population is already overweight.
agenetically and physiologically, it should be impossiblea for all u.s. adults to become overweight, said dr. lan liang of the federal governmentas agency for healthcare research and quality, one of the researchers on the study.
If 100% of the population will be fat in 40 years, in 50 years that should increase to around 110%, meaning there will be piles of fat in the street not attached to any particular individual.
i dont get it.
i find myself saying this about certain people, items or situations that seem to be popular with most people.
am missing something?
Shakespeare is so ubiquitous there is a tendency to take his work for granted. It is like being unimpressed with a tadpole squirming about in the primordial soup a a billion years ago.
If his work seems cliched or hackneyed it is only because it has been imitated so much.
Sushi- YUM! I tell ya what, if there is an animal out there I can't eat, I haven't met it and eaten it yet. I don't like all sushi... octopus doesn't really do anything for me. Tuna and yellowtail are the best.
Spiderman- I've been told I look like Tobey Maguire. Personally I take that as an insult.
Kidman- Always liked her, but I see so few movies, I think I've only seen her in Cold Mountain, Moulin Rouge, and one of the crappy Batmans (Batmen?).
anyone up for a silent protest?
if you still report regularly, why not avoid putting a report in for the month of september; help get the service year off to a flying start?
.
I actually did turn in zeros at one point, so I wouldn't get called for my report.
from age ten until today.
he was my friend; we used to play.
no im not really okay.
Damn, Confession, very sorry to hear that. There are some people that just live life so large... "the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long."
