has anyone experienced something really outrageous among the jw's that you want to share?.
we once had a couple of jw's follow us (policeing us) as we were on our way to my (then, he's now my ex) husband's boss's home.
his boss wanted us over for an end of the year party and didn't consider it a christmas party because he knew we didn't celebrate christmas.
I forgot about this: When I got married, my husband & I could not afford a honeymoon (we were only 18 & 20 yrs old. Obviously we were rushed, via the elders to get married ASAP. This was back in 1974) Anyway...so the next day....who comes knocking on our door, at ca. 9:30am? You guessed it. That was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong...I still resent those two sisters to this day for that.

when i was younger i used to have terrible convulsions and hear "voices".
my mom was convinced that it must be "the demons".
the congregation prayed over me and eventually i went to a doctor that was able to figure out why i was so sickly and presto: everyone's prayers were answered..
I now read books for Sylvia Browne and I don't have any issues with demons. I don't see her as a threat either, just another person giving us her opinions which sound pretty logical to me but I don't believe anything anymore 110%. The mind is a powerful thing. Through negative feedback from people, e.g. the WTBTS influence, we can get so scared that we do imagine demons haunting us. As the saying goes, "Whatever we believe is true." And that saying is totally true. I don't believe in being possessed by demons unless I know I am intentionally dealing with some hocus pocus crap. You play with fire, you will get burned.

Not me, but boy......the JW's sure no how to make ya paranoid and think the worse about everything and everyone. Scared and suspicious besides.

speaking of zombies, I was once in a cong. in Maine where a particular family were really weird. They dressed like from way back during the Depression, the girls had their hair braided and tied back, the dad was an elder and the worse thing of all, THOSE KIDS FROM THAT FAMILY, (honest truth) NEVER MOVED A MUSCLE WHILE SITTING IN THEIR SEATS. Would they have gotten beaten upon getting home? They sat there like literal zombies. It was scary.

Stunt them? Of course. Their whole academic intake is based on the JW's teachings and nothing else. It keeps them very narrow-minded and limited to only what they are taught. They may read in the Awake current events going on in the world, but NEVER in depth, nor do they know how to use the critical thinking process, due to a lack of time or ability. This of course is all contingent on if they go 100% by the book, JW teachings that is.

Not really, but I still like to dress up. I also have that tendency to do so when I go to Church. Even though so many come in jeans etc. I'm sorry, but I do feel a bit of respect for God should be shown, hence my reasons for still preferring to dress up.

What happened to her claim that we need to devote ALL of our time in service? Her hubby is/was the PO in that cong. I don't know if he still is, I left that cong. in 1999.
