Standard cult procedure: Have a leader (or group) who can do no wrong. They are the one path to "god", and therefore have absolute authority.

The Probabilty of there being an Intelligent Designer
by cantleave ini have been thinking a great deal about where i stand at this moment in time in terms of a belief in a creator verses a belief in an evolutionary process.
i think the best way to describe it is an exploratory path.
i look at what is around me and i acknowledge it is remarkable.

Sylvia, are you saying that "the devil" is responsible for our universe not being "like a finely tuned clock" that we were taught to believe it is?
Sylvia:
I'm saying I believe just that; the Evil One is out to wreak havoc on God's creation
That makes NO sense at all. You're saying "the devil" is responsible for messing up god's finely tuned universe and crashing galaxies into each other and creating rocks that crash into earth. Those galaxies colliding that we're seeing happened MILLIONS of years ago. It's not something "the devil" could have done when he confronted god 6 thousand years ago and had a hissy fit pushing galaxies around. Put on your thinking cap woman.
And if "the devil" DID push the galaxies around like that millions of years ago - is your god such a pussy that he couldn't repair the damage?

It's not just the odd rock hitting the Earth now and then, entire Galaxies collide with each other (including ours in a few million years or so).

If there is a creator, he/she did a pretty crappy job.

"They (WT) took me out of context", Gail Bethea-Jackson video
by Fatfreek inthis is too important to bury within an old thread.
that thread hashed over several items of interest which you may want to read by way of a refresher: .
is gail bethea-jackson truly a doctor as the watchtower site claims?

Religious people are funny
by sinis in... how you can take a book written centurys ago, and vague at that, and try to decern what the writers "really" meant and how the doomsday prophecys "really" indicated our times.
doesn't feel like your chasing your tail?
why not, eat and drink for tomorrow you may die?

What I find funny about this is that EVERY generation since those things were originally written has managed to twist the verses so that it seems that THEIR generation is the one that all of history has been leading up to. And they NEVER LEARN!! Faith trumps thought every time with those nimrods.

Why would the WTS use quotes from Francis Hitching?
by cantleave inhitching is also a paranormalist, an advocate of psychic evolution.... [hitching's book] earth magic is a wild, extremely entertaining and thoroughly psychic interpretation of megalithic structures.... hitching also includes in his scheme cosmic cataclysms, atlantis, pyramidology, dowsing, esp, miraculous healing, and astrology.

Because they never thought any of their sheeple would bother to double-check their sources. And at the time this was written (before the internet), it took quite a bit of time and effort to verify these things. And dubs don't have free time.
They put Hitching forward as a scientist or expert on evolution, and 99.9% of the dubs just accept it. It was quite shocking to me when I first checked him out when trying to verify the creation book. This was a big first step on my exit.

Nine year old baptized
by EmptyInside inthis weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.
and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.
it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.

The Gradual Change From Worshiping Jehovah To The Worship Of the Governing Body
by frankiespeakin ini first began my misadventures with jehovah's witnesses in 1972 as a youth(18 years old) and was baptised in that same year.
i was young inexperienced and they caught me at a low point when i was weak and looking for god to solve problems.
being raised as a catholic and going to all the religious indoctrination up to the point of confirmation, i guess you could say i was indoctrinated from birth to believe a certain way which left me vulnerable to the jw propaganda.. fast foreword to the time of my departure in 2001 february.. for a couple of years (late 90s) before i left i started noticing out right lies in the wt publications about their history and the luster that these magazines used to have started to fade rapidly also around that time i really began to notice the gobs and gobs of praise they were bestowing on the organization and the representative members of the so called faithful & discrete slave(gb).

Personally I thought this was a pretty new thing. Or at least that it's been getting much more extreme. But after recently hearing experiences of ex-jws from about 30 years ago, I was surprised to hear that they were complaining of the same thing back then. Perhaps those people were just more sensitive to the subtle worshiping of the GB, and perhaps it IS getting more extreme.

If You're Married Or Have A GF, BF,Do You Still Have Friends Of The Opposite Sex?

I wouldn't be comfortable with my wife having friends that weren't also my friends. Like if they were going out together, and I was not invited. That would not be cool. And I wouldn't have any friends who she didn't get along with. That's kind of a deal-breaker. Now, if she had a male friend and they were going to do something I wasn't interested in, well fair enough, go for it. But I should at least be invited.
