Good for you! And thanks for the clarification, I too, thought you were, at one time, a JW!
Wish I could post on FB that I no longer consider myself a JW, but that would open a huge can of worms...
and this is what i wrote:.
i think some folks may be under the mistaken impression that i am a baptised jehovah's witness.
i've never been baptised to become a jw.

curious, as ones not believing in any spirit creatures, would you feel completely at ease performing a summon demon ritual, or using ancient magic words, that absolutely nothing would happen?
or deep down would you have a 'what if' restraint preventing you?
.
Raised as a JW I was very fearful of the demons. I had dreams where demons were after me most of my life. I left the WT at the age of 46. Realized that all religion and the very concept of a supernatural being (god) was ridiculous. A few months after wrapping my head around the fact that I was an atheist, I suddenly realized I no longer had demon dreams. Getting rid of god allowed me to lose my irrational fears.
I can now watch "spooky" movies late at night, walk into my dark bedroom and drift off to sleep w/o nightmares. Imaginary beings have no control over me.
All supposedly supernatural occurences can be explained as either natural phenomena, delusional thinking or errors in perception.
I am free and I am happy. :)
why won't any jw call me?i always call them and they avoid me or meet me only for study and meetings.they won't even start a conversation with me on msn!i feel somewhat uncomfortable within jw 'friends'.i have prayed a lot about this all of my adolescent years and still no response.did this happen to you too?.
I don't think this one's a troll, and if he is, he's not an annoying one.
Anyhooo... Peter: making friends is not always easy. Your problems may not be JW related, as many people had lots of friends when they were active witnesses. Of course, it may depend on the congregation you attend...
You may want to speak to a counselor about some of the issues you've mentioned on this board, maybe they can suggest some things you can do to round out your personality and improve your social skills. You're a young man, just starting out. Get the skills you need now (education, social...) and your future will be bright. :)
so as not to hijack another thread i decided that a thread on culture could be useful.
i'd like to provide a safe place for people to talk about cultural norms or abnormals.
you don't want to learn that you've done or said the wrong thing by gettin' a fist in the face, know what i'm saying?.
About hair: My sister in law is a school teacher. Her first job was in an elementary school in a black neighborhood in East Baton Rouge parish. She is white and had long, straight hair at the time. At recess, the favorite thing to do for the little girls in her class was to brush her hair. They had never touched a white person's hair before and were fascinated by it. She would just sit at her desk doing paperwork and let the little girls play.
I think we are all intrigued by anything "different". Perhaps when someone of a different ethnicity has tried to touch your hair it was a way of admiring it. I get that if you've spent a lot of time and money on a style you don't want it messed up, but I don;t think the intent of the "toucher" was to offend.
i wonder if anyone can help with this information?
i seem to recall that if a husband or wife commits adultery and is divorced, is it necessary for the innocent party to agree before that one can be reinstated?
regardless of that answer if the person is reinstated and wishes to remarry do they need the agreement of the innocent party before they can remarry if they wish to maintain a good standing in the congregation?.
I'll let someone else find a direct quote for WT lit, but it's my understanding that as long as the innocent party is open to reconcile, they guilty party is not off the hook. In other words, if you are guilty of adultery you can not, in the org's eyes, move on and remarry if your innocent partner still wants you back.
Most awful scent ever: "Taboo". Yuck!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe it reminds you of me... :)
I get compliments on my scent almost daily...
I find that Estee Lauder's "White Linen" and Clinique's "Happy" (same master company) smell almost identical. Both are light and fruity.
Someone once told me that while women tend to prefer light and cool scents, such as florals, men prefer scents that remind them of food (no big surprise). They like scents that hint of vanilla or other edibles. "Angel" a very popular scent, smells a bit like buttered popcorn... I wear Burberry, which is a warm scent, it does not smell like a specific food, but it's warmth is comforting, much like food. :)
I wear Burberry now.
They're both orange? :)
