That's awful! How long have you owned it? It seems to me, a fairly new ring should have a strudy setting. Go see the jeweler and see if they stand behind their product.
I would not tell them I was sanding when I lost it. You know, "the truth is for those who deserve to know" (wink, wink).

i am a baptized jw that faded some years back.
in those days i deeply believed in the org and became disillusioned by some things happening in the local congregation.
following some research on the net i decided to fade out of watchtower existence because i did not want to keep mixing with false religion (or so i thought at the time).
I wish you all the best. Just remember: In the WT "your terms" are not honored. It's either their way or the highway, so watch your back.

There is a saying (from Africa, I think) that says: "It takes a village to raise a child". I view JWD as our village. Mincan was acting like an unrully , irresponsible child. More than that, his attitude towards alchohol, women and sex, if unchecked, could cause him and others great harm. It is our duty to give him, or anyone else, a word of caution, when needed.
If what he did was indeed true ( I have my doubts), and it was a one time thing, than let him learn from it and not do it again. If he has a real problem, let him seek help. But he won't learn that his behavior was inapropriate if no one tells him.
No one here is going to shun him or hold anything against him. We will move on and hope he matures into a responsible, caring young man.
I myself, like to keep things "loosy goosy" most of the time, but when someone is in danger, I can't pretend it's ok. No judgments, just a little help when warranted...

those of you who have posted here regularly for the past four years have helped me immensely in my recovery from watchtower and have shared with me in my journey.
you will also know that, after winning my battle with watchtower (save for one daughter who is still stuck fast in the org and shunning the rest of us), i have been fighting an even greater battle these past three years - cancer!.
I wish you all the best. You wonderful attitude will take you far.
this morning i saw a witness mother and her son heading out into service.
from the area they were in i think they were going to be doing some street corner work.
i was stopped at a light when they walked in front of my car.

i know a lot of you do meditation and i thought i would share a recent experience with you all.
it's been almost 2 years since i left the mental bondage of the org.
and it's been a journey with lots of twists and turns.
I want to thank all of you for this enlightening thread. I have been wanting to try meditation. I sometimes do pilates and yoga, but not as frequently as I should. As a life long JW the very concept of meditaion is foreign and scary. We have been conditioned to mistrust our own mind and it's inner workings. We have had "the fear put in us" that we will open up our minds to evil spirits.
I've reached a point in my "recovery" that I no longer have fear of the "spirit world". I don't even know that it exits. I want to be truly free and truly at peace and I will not allow anyone to take this from me.
I only hope I can quiet my mind enough to experience what some of you have described. I am fidgety by nature and my head is really noisy. I'll let ya'll know where this takes me...

I trully believe we are born with a core personality. Our upbringing and life experiences "tweak" it to some extent, but the personality is set. As a "born JW" I would say many of my natural tendencies were stifled, which caused frustration, which caused me to leave , which brought me here.
for most of my 30 years in the 'truth' (age 12-42 thereabouts) i have always doubted many many things taught from the watchtower.
however like many if not most of those brought up in it i got swallowed up in the whole social side of it.
bringing up children in it i told myself that it wasn't such a bad life after all.
Witnesses tell their Bible students that if they find any falsehood in their own religion it is automatically classed as "false religion" which = Babylon the Great, which they should then get out of. But they cannot seem to apply this princple to their own religion. Go figure!
