That Evil Disco??

back in october 1983, there was a craptower study article that effectively banned disco, rock, and funk music.

it also spelled the end of those rollerskating parties that the congregations used to organize.

now, i can see their reasoning behind the rock (backmasking satanic messages) and funk (dirty), even though it is very specious.. however, the "evil disco" strikes me as weird.

You know if they could, they would ban all music except for kingdumb ~~melodies~~ barf.

But they are smart enough not to do that, since the witnoids would wake up and realize that they are all in a high control group/cult.

The reason they ban any fun music, is because it makes you happy!

It sets your mind free, you get lost in the music and the rythym and let your body move to beat...

Not good because this disrupts the cognitive dissonance flow that is constantly within the JW brain.

that is why there is a constant barrage of WT information, a constant stream of guilt and instructions...thru the meetings and personal study,

keeping the JW in a zombie-like, non-thinking stupur, unaware of the innocent good things out there, in the ''world''..

They are right, too much fun, takes JW's away from the org...

If the article was more balanced and written without the demon and satan references, I could take it seriously. (common writer,..children go in service, they aren't demons)

If the artcle was about the fact that it is a high control group, it would carry a heck of alot more weight.

Who cares if someone deems it illogical? Opinions are cheap. Truths are hard-won. Opinion-holders have to prove it! This style of reason, by the way, does not suit television very well. It's much cheaper and faster to install a microphone on the street and gather a dozen opinions. But do those opinions mean anything?

OK, I think you have made some wrong assumptions. When I speak about ''opinions'', I was not refering to the random surveys taken by television interviewers on the street. Those opinions hold no weight, they have no power, they are meaningless. They are for entertainment purposes only. I was thinking of GOVERNMENT'S opinions, POLITICIAN'S opinions. People who have power and wealth at their arsenal, who can enforce change.

Assuming I am not wanting a ''reasonable'' debate is, IMHO,a low blow, and an incorrect assumption.

#1. I am not disagreeing with you.

#2. I was merely stating that others may disagree with you.

#3.I agree with the foundation of Logic.

I was merely stating that other people are not logical, but may wholeheartedly believe that they hold a position of logic.

One person who comes to mind is George W Bush, a person with almost absolute power, and who believs His opinions and viewpoints are logical, correct and true.

Why do you have to debate with me?

I have read and respected your view points.

If disagreeing with you means that you feel that we can't debate, then does that mean you only debate with people who agree with you?

I am thinking that you will probably reply, ''No, of course not!''.

So then why did you make these comments, and why did you feel the need to instruct me as though I am ignorant about logic? Just letting you know that your comments do come across as condescension. If you did not mean to be condescending, then I will take your word for it.

e - I respectfully disagree, I have seen where someone can present a perfectly logical fact, and someone else will deem it illogical...I am just stating what I observe.

I am not a debater, never wanted to be, I never enjoyed it. I would NOT make a good politician. You seem to be very knowledgable about the world of politics, whereas I have no first hand knowlege.

I prefer a mutually respectful exchange of ideas.

I understand that the world does NOT work this way, I am only stating my preference, which is neither right nor wrong, it just is my viewpoint, and the last time I checked, I am allowed to have one, aren't I?

Killing time during meeting...

another favorite was unsticking the pages of a new bible or folding back the dogears of an old one.

Favorite passtimes at DC were:

drawing, doodling, passing notes to friends, sleeping (brought a pillow and blanket just for that) checking out everyone with binoculars, staring at the collesium rafters looking for birds flying around, ...walking around the upper concession level with a borrowed kid....pretending to take them for a drink or washroom break...anything to pass the time until.......

LUNCH TIME, YAY! which was the best part about the convention...I remember feeling so evil if we didn't get back to our seats on time....

BEST Watchtower analogy I have ever seen!

watch carefully what the girl is doing and what she is drinking....... this has symbol character.

if this isn't on purpose, than it is the best analogy to what the wt means to your life..... redpill.. could someone please scan that picture and post it here????

The red pill, according to the movie, meant that person would see the matrix. they go down the rabbit hole and see how deep it goes.

The blue pill means you ''wake up'', with no memory of taking the blue pill, back in the ''world'' as you perceive it, back ''asleep'' under the machine's control.

I've been studying with JW's for a few months..

i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.

i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .

but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

Also, if you really must know, all of the above doctrines that the JW's teach are not new to them, they did not come up with them originally.

Charles Taze Russell, Prez of the watchtower society borrowed the doctrines of non-trinity, etc, from this movement.

Shunned at Walmart

the greeter was a woman i once called friend and who (unfortunately now) was baptized after studying with me for a year.

when i walked in i was the only one coming through the door so it's not like she didn't see me, she turned away and ignored me...not wanting to lower myself to her level i simply got a shopping cart and went about my shopping, my first instinct was to report her to management for dereliction of duty but i thought better of that because my doing so would show her it upset me.

i really owe her a debt of gratitude because it was at her baptismal talk that my first strong doubt that it was the truth finally penetrated my foggy brain, as i sat and repeated the baptismal questions to myself at the assembly when she was being baptized i realized they were not the same ones i answered in 1974, that started me on my journey out of the org.
