I went to a seminar and was introduced to a small group of older people , most of whom attended the

same Buddhist/meditation services. One older gentleman engaged in small talk with me and asked

about my religious background. I replied that I had spent 40 years in a most fanatical religion.

He then replied ( I swear this actually happened!)

    "Jehovah's Witness?"

    My jaw dropped

"How did you know?" I said

He replied "Well, you said fanatical and I figured........."

And Witness are known for their love? I don't think so!

Did you ask him how he knew?

Does he have family that are JW's?

    Is he an ex-Jw himself?

Thanks for sharing that cool experience metatron

Whenever I spoke to non-JWs about the JWs, even while I was one, the words and phrases they used most frequently were:

    • fanatical
    • brainwashed
    • break up families
    • kill their children (blood issue)
    • unpatriotic
    • stupid (uneducated)
    • cult

The reputation they've earned for themselves is more accurate than they'd like to admit.

Active dubs should one saturday instead of peddling the rags, take a survey and ask their neighbors some simple questions, like do you know what JW's believe? Do you know why we go from door to door? Do you think we are a cult? and most important Do you think we are a loving organization? I think the responses they get will be enlightning.

I was a fanatic. I didn't know it then - but I know it now.

Now I am just a rabid, frothing at the mouth, apostate. But still a nice guy nonetheless.
