We wondered who the next leader is. I think the answer is here- Splane. Losch got a seat due to senority- but he's too wacked out and independant to run things. Jaracz and Barr are the old guard. The guys standing are the new generation.

My experience at the District Convention today - Appreciate your comments
by BonaFide ini know i am the one to constantly harp on this board how the organization has lost its "swagger" and the baptism and attendance is going down, and people are waking up.. not so fast.. the audience cried, i mean a lot of people cried when they played some of the songs from the new songbook.
some had bethel singers who sounded pretty good singing them.
so many after the program were saying how touched they were.. then the new release of the book showing how the book of acts prefigures the organization today.

Don't forget- the district assembly is a brainwashing session that has been carefully orchestrated and practiced for maximum effect. With all of the thought that goes into these programs its actually surprising how many people are tuned out and cynical.
As for seeing a chink in the armor- don't look for it after 3 days of active brainwashing. Look for it after a significant period of dissonance- a personal, logical decision that is not allowed, etc.

I was just reflecting the other evening on this. My wife and I are closer than ever before. My son is playing sports and doing boy scouts and basically vicariously doing everything that was missing from my childhood. I have reconnected with my cousins, who were out for years- and our relationship is rich and enjoyable. I have connected with my community and become active in charitable endeavors, etc.
Aside from some tense conversations and letters with my parents and siblings- life is very good.

I hate the CO
by superman inso i was talking to my mother the other day, and she was distressed because she was saying that if my little sister isn't baptized or working toward it by the time she's 18 (which is coming up soon) she may have to move out (more then likely she'll move in with me and my girlfriend, or my older sister if that happens).
my little sister is a great kid (high honor roll, no trouble, hard worker, etc), that many parents would be grateful to have.
i asked my mom, why would they take parenting advice from a guy who doesn't (and hasn't) ever had kids?

When I was an elder (over 2 years ago) the drum was already starting to beat on this tune. So I believe that these CO's are just verbalizing what is in writing and others are embarassed to say from the platform. An elder's qualifications will be questioned if his kids go to college, don't get baptized, don't attend meetings, etc. I was removed because my wife went to college and I supported it- and she missed a lot of meetings. Being removed as an elder was the best thing that ever happened to me- because I faded right out after that. (Hard to fade when you have a talk every other week)

No doubt the video will be summarized in the simple logic- life is complex, therefore there must be a creator, there must be a creator, therefore, believe all that JWs tell you.

1st- I like how Barr and Jaracz get a little cameo on the first page- just so we know who we're talking about when we say "Governing Body"
2nd- I can't imagine how this book on Acts is going to work. The "work" described in Acts is nothing of the sort and doesn't even slightly resemble what JW's do today. And the "organization" in the book of Acts is not really organized at all, much less look like the JW heirarchy of today. I suppose there will be a lot of "hunt and peck" and "cherry picking" of scriptures.

Marched in a parade. Went to a little league game. Quite a difference not having all of the guilt/stress hanging over.

(Raises hand sheepishly) Yes- I did it. Not really proud of it. When you really believe that you know the truth of the universe, its pretty shocking what you can be convinced to do.

Yes. And gravity, and relativity, and chemistry too.
(I know- such a bogus, pagan, non-believer I am)

Shortest eldership ever?
by outofthebox inas many of you know, while i was already a member of this forum and very much awake i became an elder.
so, there is no holy spirit involved on those appoinments boys and girls.. i tried my best wake up people, but is not that easy you know.. months later i decided it was enough and decide to move away.
i can't give you any details at the moment, but .... rumor has it, i am not an elder anymore.

Garybuss, your comments are very insightful. I think that describes perfectly the situation of many fathers who have grown accustomed to the respect and fulfillment they find in the Borg.
