If you really want to fight this- dont fight as a former member- fight as a concerned taxpayer. There is a taxpayer revolt on in much of the country and rural NY is no different. Some longstanding incumbents were turned out in November. Most people dont care about religion or truth or politics- they care about money. The only winning fight against this will be to point out the huge impact on roads, land, etc with NO tax benefit. Another large parcel of land permanently off the tax rolls. (Then they will just find another location, though- I suspect that Warwick is the OTHER location- Ramapo really has no desire for another large non-profit sucking up resources and paying no taxes.)

Christmas
by PSacramento ini am sure there is a topic already abput this somewhere, but i am too lazy to search so i beg your indulgence :).
my little one sofia asked me about christmas the other day ( she is 6) and of course she mentioned how grandma said that christmas is not the day jesus was born and that it is a pagan day !!!.
* pause for thunderclap*.

How about this- I dont believe Jesus was born on 12/25, I dont really even accept that his life really had any of the religious significance ascribed by the 4 gospels- but I really love christmas.
Its so great to have a tree in the house, have some time off to rejoice with friends, contemplate the next years goals and aspirations. Its for a reason the people have celebrated at this time of year for the last 3000 years. (PS- I dont believe in Saturn either- but I don't hold it against the romans for celebrating his day)

Can a JW join the Rotary Club?
by Open mind ini've looked at the rotary web site and the most damning thing i can find is that they have a history of working closely with the un.. .
but that shouldn't be a problem for watchtower right?.

I really like being part of the Rotary. It is a way to meet community leaders in a low pressure setting. We salute the flag, have a convocation before lunch, sponsor an annual holiday tree lighting, sponsor a Memorial Day parade and have an annual holiday party. I'm guessing an active JW would have a problem with this stuff!!!
Most of all JW's dont like Rotary because of our 4 way test- recited at the beginning of each meeting: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
JWs fail on all 4 counts!

They think that their construction is the foundation of the new world.
I'll bet the residential facility is to house the workers who will be building the Ramapo facility- and once thats done- they can move out of Brooklyn once and for all.
Then Rockland county will be flooded with Hasidim and JWs!!!

Bethel brother prays we remain submissve and obey the GB
by JerkhovahsWitless ini had my sad (and what a sad day for me it was) maybe a little over a month ago... the concluding talk was given by some bethel douche.
his name is don or john larson / larsen.
his wife's name is emma (maybe it was enema?).

John Larson is a up and coming heavy. On the Branch Committee and, I think, Factory Overseer. Always struck me as a bit of a weasel.

Valley Farms Corp. What do they protect with it?
by MinisterAmos inmost already know that watchtower corp atty phil brumley uses a patterson, ny address as his residence.
using google maps, 131 brimstone road, patterson ny is starting to shape up into a veritable mansion.
maybe they are planning another rutherford (also an atty) style beth sharim but this time close to wallkill?.

Sorry guys- the houses they buy for lawyers, doctors and other "professionals" who have given up their profession to come to Bethel- are just houses- nothing fancy. They are considered an amazing luxury to other bethelites- because they have a kitchen, laundry room, dining room and more than 500 square feet. But they are just typical houses. No mansions. The problem is that they are used to living like normal people and often they or their wives cannot adjust to the regimented schedule and communal living at Bethel (because it isnt normal!!!)- so in order to induce them to stay and drill Bethelites teeth, or remove bunions from their feet, etc, etc-they provide a house for them.
In the case of Brumley- he just milked the system- he was a career Bethelite who convinced someone that he needed a house because he was a professional too.

Are you able to share your source? From what I can tell, they are tax exempt?
I may be mistaken- but that's what I remember- They have several property holding companies- some of which are used to pay taxes on property. (source is my recollection- may be slipping- I am trying to forget as much as possible!!)
