  What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?

  i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.

  and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.

  so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

  Vatican seeks to improve relations with JWs!

  the odd couple seems to have inspired the vatican's latest ecumenical gesture.. we have been losing catholics to the watchtower for some time, remarked a senior vatican official.

  in fact, ex-catholics make up a huge number of current witnesses; it is time that we focused on a better relationship with these earnest people..

  when still in the watchtower, i used to be an assistant ministerial servant.

  true, there is no such title but its there unofficially for those one step to being a ministerial servant.

  been with it for about three years.

  I auxillary pioneered a couple of times ,was a ministeriall servant for a few years though never wanted to make the jump to elder.Yet I was encouraged to do so on numerous occasioins .My philosophy was to stay in the middle ,not be a leader, nor be a tail ender,hence a middle roader.(what`s that say about me eh?)

  Pres.&6 board members resign in 2000 ??? What`s the story??

  i was looking at a site that contained five myths of jehovah`s witnesses,myth #4 caught my attention"the watchtower society claims to be an inspired prophet with continuing revelations" fact:jehovah`s witnesses governing body has always enjoyed all the priveledges of prophets or apostles without any of the responibilities.so technically,though they do not claim to be inspired prophets in practice,that is just what they are to the millions of jehovah`s witnesses around the world.

  now this is what caught my attention: {due to the resignation of the governing bodys president and six other board members in october of 2000 jehovah`s witnesses formed three new corporations to run it`s u.s. operations}.

  can anybody on the board enlighten me as to what this is all about ?.

  The Marks the WT is God's Only Org on Earth

  with monotous regularity, my jw friend says the proof that the org is god's only divinely inspired org on earth is the fact that they go door to door.

  how should i respond to this convuluted logic?.

  are jehovah's witnesses really the only religion that promotes and preaches the name of jehovah?.

  jw's are always claiming that they are the only religion that preaches and uses the name jehovah, and that is why only they will be saved.

  for example, look at this quote from the watchtower:.

  Why is it that abuse is so prevalent among the religious?

  i'm not trying to sling mud at anyone, but, while i am aware that pedophiles are to be found in all walks of society, why would it be that they seem to be so many among the religious?

  as a former catholic, i often heard people say that priests would abuse children because a) they couldn't have a woman themselves (an outright lie) or b) because the catholic church gave them an "honorable" way to stay single and be in the company of many men and children.

  but then the jw's don't have such restrictions, and abuse still happens.

  Their are something like 1.5 billion catholics in the world today,with the relevant amount of preists,cardinals etc,servicing their parishiners,their are only 7 million jehovah`s witnesses in the world,with their equivalent elders ministerial servants etc,of course the catholic religion is going to get the full brunt of critiscism because of their size. However I would like to see the{ % ratio} of catholics vs. the jehovah`s witnesses as regards child sexual abuse I wouldn`t be at all surprised that the abuse far outstrips the catholc church with such a comparison{ % ratio }compared to numbers of each group.

  Also the Roman Catholic Church is a recognised established religion of approx.2000 years,which people can relate to. while Jehovah`s Witnesses ? A small sect / cult ,as veiwed by the majority of people, with no significance in the religous world. A non entity .
