You are not crazy but you are looking around the country in which you happen to live to see if there is any organisation sent by God. It is because you are unsure about being unsure who God is. Many humans in the past have arrived at this problem and today is no different. Billions of people now on Earth will ask the same question and not have a JW anywhere near so they will get involved with others around them. Certain humans have had problems with all organised religion and Buddhism tried to become a non organised organisation if you catch my drift where it encouraged people to explore their own feelings and emotion toward creation and other humans around them. My feeling is along those lines but it leaves me isolated but I am prefering that to the alternative of being told how to feel and think until I meet similar souls to myself which may never happen and que sera to that- but hey I must be true to myself and not stress about doing that very thing - it is who I am and I will live or die by it! I even heard about Quakers meeting in which Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus etc all prefix their belief with Quaker as a humanitarian feeling they all hold for the peaceful collaboration of all believers - yet another freeing of minds and using ones own mind to build love and peace and compassion for all. IMO the one way philosophy creates too much conflict in the souls of individuals rather than embracing difference and creating an atmosphere of inclusion, understanding and compassion in which everyone can share and communicate with each other. That's my feeling for what it's worth!

PLEASE tell me I'm crazy!!!
by Elyse867 inso... hubby and i have been getting into discussions with a lot of people lately about the wts.
i want so bad to know what to believe... i don't believe that the 'truth' is the one true religion anymore, but i don't know what to believe anymore when it comes to certain things... what happens to you after you die, etc.
so, i've been praying a lot (i still believe in god) asking him to direct me somewhere, just give me something to believe in.

What about your JW past are you thankful for?
by nvrgnbk inin the interest of self-healing and finding the peace that comes from being grateful, can you think of anything at all that was positive about having been one of jehovah's witnesses?.
not to be misunderstood with missing something about it, is there something about the experience that has enriched you?.
to answer the question myself, being forced to face the fallacies of the teachings of jwism, i was also prompted to look past those teachings and reevaluate everything i believed in.. that experience was frightening and unsettling, but i'm thankful for it.. i now have a greater appreciation for life in all its wonder than i did when i took it for granted as one of jehovah's witnesses.. i'm more determined now to find meaning in this life, after having lived for so long for a future that was never to arrive..

To be absolutely honest I don't feel a single thing. It leaves me void. On an analytical level respecting its philosophy I would say the zero war ambition and the mindset to judge noone as being evil except to beseech them to turn away from works that intend to hurt others. The ability to look at any human on Earth and treat them with the respect as a part of Gods creation. This is what I feel - it is a Buddhist feeling that speaks to me when I write it though I do not know any. If I were thrown into a war zone like some soldiers are then I cannot say how long I would last or whether I would react to those attempting to kill me. If loved ones were around me it would be maybe impossible for me not to try and protect them. So everything is a relative experience though I would never wish or want anyones death or suffering. My heart believes and feels it is pointless. It is what numbs my soul as to humanity - when I see pain instead of love!

Why is religion such a mass of confusion?
by evergreen inas a person who has not attended meetings for some time now, and having stood back and looked at the thousands of different faith groups, organisations, churches etc i often think how on earth are we to know what direction to go.
if a person looks deeply into their own faith questioning how, what and why... the deeper the hole gets as to errors.
from my own experience having firstly been a catholic then a jw, all i see are manmade rituals and rules mingled in with biblical principles and commandments.

Whoever Poppers is knows much! Jesus said 'the truth is in you' to people who did not have the NT and told of a belief that was very different from the OT that they could listen to, since it said to love enemies and not take up the sword and to not cast the first stone etc. If the truth was in those with little wealth and literature, then maybe looking into our own hearts is the best reference point for any God we may feel exists. At that point it becomes personal. It is also likely Jesus may have been influenced by Buddhist ideas from the East. They are like ideas from God! They are about soothing your own soul and NOT beating it up to feel like sewage. You recognise that religion is confusion so maybe you already know to reject all that does not sit well with your heart. That way this very hour you will feel that you are fine as you are before God and can think for yourself about what feels cool to spend your life doing that God has given to you. He is so powerful I'm sure He doesn't need a hand from you sorting problems out. If you do end up helping others maybe it will be an accident and because you are getting on with your own life in ways you enjoy. I hope you enjoy the rest of your life and avoid confusion!

Would You See A Therapist or Doctor To Help You Get Out of JWs???
by minimus inthere are a number of people that have been "out" of the organization for years yet they almost seem to live for the "old days".
they might still be bitter , angry or depressed because of their past.
but in a strange way, it seems like they never really want to get back into reality, into the real world.

Zeroguy, maybe you have few family or maybe they don't see you even if you have made attempts to see them in the past. Maybe you were always on the lookout for others or helped when you could. Maybe you realize that when you are on the other side of the road they will not stop to see how you are. Maybe you realize how heartless people are on the whole. Maybe if you are not throwing a party or making fun for them you are disposable and may only be useful in their conversations with each other whilst you are not there. And maybe you know that true love traveled on a gravel road once upon a time in your life. Maybe you see how humanity really is and mainly out for itself, reputation and walking on the right side of the road. Wherever you are at I hope you see people for who they really are. It may feel lonely but one revisit to family politics and their half baked intellects can be enough to make you realize you'd prefer lying in your own vomit. Sometimes the finest grasp anyone has on the English language is when they say nothing! And sometimes the greatest love you can show those whom you committed your soul to is to leave them all behind! It's taken a lifetime to get here and sometimes there's not enough life left to make an improvement! Cast your eyes on another horizon and see how you feel. Maybe you already have. As JW's many of us were searching for 'soul' and the search goes on albeit without expectation!

The smile on mother and childs faces is amazing. She thinks her child is Vishnu. Everyone will be overly kind to this child. Maybe it will get a better quality life experience than it would get anywhere else on Earth! It is a paradox!

Self-Esteem Shot To Pieces - No Friends
by wheelintheskykeepsonturning inschool sucked for me as a witness.. i always wanted to be popular, have friends, have a girlfriend, go to parties, play after school sport, stay the night at friends places, do all the other stuff which was fun and made you socially acceptable - which made you feel normal - but was disallowed because i was a witness child.. i thought everything everyone did at school was a direct test of satan on me.
that's what i was told.. so i tried to go through school living a "double life".
i desperatley wanted to be obidient to my witness mother who i loved so much and have her approval... so while i tried hard to pretend i wasn't a witness at school - for fear of being ostracized by my peers - i also was obviously "different" to my friends...and because of this i took a lot of shit for it and eventually became unpopular to the point where i dropped out of high school because i thought no one liked me.. for example: i would never "go out" with girls who wanted to go out with me... because i was afraid they would ring my home and my mum would be "disappointed in me" and angry and upset at me.

What you say is identical to feelings and experiences many others have had and it is emotionally disabling. It is a good thing if you are able to get to apostafests to meet like minded souls but maybe you need someone to be around more regularly. Maybe college artcourses or yoga groups - but really I don't know myself since I have been in your headspace for years on end. I don't know is my answer to you!

Therapists are like avid book readers who read all you say and then try to give you their take. Different reader different take. When my dad died mum saw a therapist who advised her to keep us from the graveside to avoid trauma so I sat in a car with my 3 younger sisters and younger brother whilst everyone else went into the church service and then to the burial. Also I didn't get to see dad in hospital for three months till he died and so he never got to say whatever he would have said. Therapists may be useful for some but in my experience, they are full of shit!
