  Just a disgusting scene once again in San Bernardino this afternoon. My deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones. This has got to stop. As President Obama alluded to in his comments it's like the U.S. is having one of these mass shootings like every week or every other week since Sandy Hook.

  Bottom line in the U.S is that we have too many damned right wing Republican politicians who are backed by the NRA who have huge amounts of lobbyists who financially back these politicians to get into office. You think these folks are going to vote for gun control ? Hell no.

  Look - I'm not saying gun control will work, I believe in the constitutional right to bear arms. However - there should be strong gun REGULATION laws that make it mandatory to do background checks on people's criminal, psychological, and medical histories before selling them firearms. Otherwise we will continue to see these scenes repeated over and over again and it will continue to be like we are living in the freaking wild west of the mid 1800's all the time with vigilante justice going on and mentally unstable people able to kill us at the local store, mini mart, in our offices at work, colleges, churches constantly. That is already happening and will continue to happen.

  Our politicians need to grow a conscience in this country and vote for not gun control, but gun regulation. I'm so pissed off about this I just wrote a song a month ago called " Gun Regulation ". In the song I relate an experience I knew about 2 years ago - A young 30 year old man I knew came home from serving in Iraq with his life intact, healthy - he went to work in Sacramento, California as a bouncer in a bar and then when trying to break up a fight between two jealous patrons over a lady, one of the men shot this young Iraqi war veteran in the back killing him. So he survived Iraq yet comes home to good old America - and gets shot and killed. The irony is so sad. Another young 18 year old lady I know who worked at a Deli sandwich shop near Sacramento and after work goes to a small party in some young man's apartment and he's messing with his gun showing off - it discharges and he accidentally shoots and kills this young lady.

  Point I'm making is it's happening WAY too much in a supposedly FREE , SAFE nation. Yeah right. Hell, maybe I should join the military and go to Iraq - I may have a better shot at living. This is just my 2 cents from the observation out here in California from what I see.

  Oh yeah , and a big P.S. on this - We have the Reagan administration to thank for putting all the psychologically disturbed people back out on the streets in the 1980's when they shut down many mental health institutions whereby these nutcases would be kept on lockdown not allowed free roaming the streets to cause harm. I think our politicians COULD do something about this , but they won't because when it comes down to it- it's all about the immortal big dollars $$$$$ that the corporates save by ignoring people killing each other to appease big government and big money

  Just to emphasize the magnitude of these numbers that Level The Playing Field shared on the Australia situation -

  1. 108 of the 1,006 child molesters were elders or ministerial servants

  2. 28 alleged child molesters were APPOINTED as elders or ministerial servants AFTER having been the subject of an allegation of child sexual abuse

  3. Only 401 of the alleged child molesters were disfellowshipped of the 1,006

  4. 230 of those 401 child molesters were reinstated back into the congregations

  5. Of those disfellowshipped 78 were disfellowshipped for child sexual abuse on more than one occasion.

  These figures are astonishing. Criminal really . So actually 835 of the 1,006 JW child molesters got back into the congregation- reinstated. That's 83 % of all the child molesters allowed back into congregations to assault more innocent children.

  Freaking AWESOME ! You go Angus Stewart ! What a damning large volume of evidence against the WT Society and it's criminal child abuse policies ! Wow. Even the stupid "psychologist " Dr. Applewhite if you can call her a psychologist appears to have been paid off by the WT Society for verbally supporting the WT Society's child abuse policies.

  Angus Stewart and the Australian commission's view of her ? Quote, " The opinions expressed by Dr. Applewhite are....... rejected because they are not substantiated by identifiable facts and assumptions or by reasons. " " Dr. Applewhite's report contains a number of factual errors with regard to her documenting of the relevant practices and procedures of the Jehovah's Witnesses. "

  Then the final nail in the coffin, " Dr. Applewhite's report is therefore rejected. "

  so i'm sure a good number of us saw the chart that i believe the poster splash put on another thread of figures since 1990 regarding how many baptized and % of increase each year .

  i started analyzing it ( and i know some referred to it briefly on the other thread ) and guessing of reasons the % of increase didn't match the number of newly baptized.

  and of course common sense tells us that either jw's leave the cult each year through death, fading into inactivity, or getting dfed.

  PHIZZY- I hear you. I stopped donating even many years before I exited the JW cult back in 2003. As the years went on I just could not understand WHY the GB would allow articles written in the WT requesting JW's to donate inheritances, life insurance policies, jewelry, to the WT Society just to further " kingdom interests ". Seemed so low of them to do that when Russell himself had stated they would never " beg " for donations. Well- that's exactly what the modern day GB and WT leaders are doing now. Disgusting

  How Many JWs Really Believe Everything They Are Told?

  i think that 80% of jws do not truly believe in what they are taught .

  the vast majority stay in because of family, friends, ignorance and a lack of caring about any of the facts regarding the "truth".

  many people are lazy.

  I feel that as some mentioned many of the old timers who have invested 30 + years or more in the Witnesses DO really believe everything they are told due to the long term mind control indoctrination of the WT Society. Anybody over 50 years old for the most part who is still in and born and raised in the JW cult still believe in it I think. I just got done talking with a 58 year old JW woman I knew from years ago - an elders wife- and she STILL thinks the WT Society is making cutbacks NOT because of financial hardships , but because the GB really cares about the " friends " and doesn't want to overburden the congregations financially. Many of these long time JW's don't have a clue that they are being duped. They still really believe the end is " close ".

  That being said- The younger JW's who aren't as indoctrinated don't believe it or buy into it. It depends how fanatic of a JW family they come from. After all is said and done I would think that at least 50 % or more still believe in the drivel that creeps down into their brains- but mainly the older long time JW's
