anyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.

bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.

i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

On the other hand- there's a good argument for taking the view that anybody who is racist and prejudiced is mentally ill in the first place. Living with racially prejudiced views is a mentally unstable way of living life and looking at life and people anyway- no matter what ethnic background someone has. There's good and bad in all races. Mentally stable and unstable in all races

Wow, a thread that's REALLY blown up.

One of the most intelligent posts I've read so far is from page 11:

NONJWSPOUSE: " Also, the people that are so dangerous are the ones that make their view of reality one that justifies such mass killings. Religion, whether found in actual doctrine , or in warped minds of those who read doctrine in some justifiable lethal way, many times has a part in that. " AMEN- PRAISE JESUS. I agree.

Whether it's the David Koresh's, Jim Jones of the world that take many people down with them in their insanity- or whether it's the secretive Mark David Chapman's of the world who killed John Lennon or this secretive Virginia shooter- the one common thread in ALL of these killers is that they have an agenda, a grievance in which they try to FORCE their perception of " reality " onto other people they hold a grudge towards - then blow these people the hell away killing them because these people won't AGREE with their warped sense of their skewed version of " reality " . And therein lies the problem.

How in the hell do we deal with thousands of these crazies running around either in a clandestine fashion or on the Internet in public trying to promote their twisted views of "reality " onto the rest of us ? In my opinion - about the only thing we can do is protect ourselves, our friends, and those we love by keeping our eyes open constantly being aware of our surroundings and not falling into complacency by being TOO trusting of strangers who may have hidden agenda's towards others - so that we don't get caught in the crossfire of some twisted nut jobs who want to go down in a " blaze of glory " forcing their views on others in a violent way. And even then- there is no guarantee we can avoid these crazies totally. They show up in random fashion many times.

So hug your children today people. Hug your wife, hug your husband , hug each other - we need to look out for one another in a modern society that's become so impersonal and so many people feeling like they don't matter and disenfranchised. All I have to say

greetings to all, i am new to this site and am enjoying the topics.

briefly, my family suffered my older/deceased brother's molestation when he was 13, in the congregation.

to this day, my mother still defends the elders that dealt with this situation.

Women going topless in NYC.

within the past couple of days, women in nyc are going around topless in public.

i read in a news article, that in new york city, there are no laws against women going topless in public.the article says that family people are getting offended and they want to stop topless women in public.

in europe women show their breasts on on tv, the beach, and breast feeding in public.

Elderly widows targeted, convinced to sign over Power of Attorney and Personal Representative of Estate

i discovered that my 96-year-old grandaunt had named her jw elder as personal representative of her estate and another jw "best friend" as her power of attorney.

i learned that they used a financial advisor at wells fargo advisors to help raid my grandaunts bank accounts in the years before her death, and then the wt and jws received most of what was left of her estate.

i am currently working on a book to expose this horrific practice.

Another thing you might try doing if the media isn't helping you enough- is to consult with an attorney that specializes in abuse of the elderly. Get some advice from them on how to proceed. Also any of the senior adult protective agencies in your area- like Ombudsmen - usually have GREAT advice as they are appointed to watch over the welfare of senior citizens to prevent abuse. I realize your aunt is already gone- however- an Ombudsman assisted me greatly with advice in dealing with my aged mom and pointed me to the right local governmental agencies to work with. I wish you the best. Hopefully some of these folks can explain options to you

STOP the ABUSERS- I'm proud of you for seeking justice on behalf of your aunt and I believe Smiddy has a good idea to get some teeth behind this in your media where you live. It will get some allies on your side by bringing it out in the media - and you may be surprised in a large way how much support you receive to expose these crimes. You are doing well dotting your " I"'s and crossing your " T" s in getting details documented and saved in your pursuit of justice. We are with you my friend. We support you all the way. so when my mom died in 2007 the main thing that kept me from losing it was that i knew i would see her again in the earthly paradise that i read and sang about in the jw publications.

i honestly fully believed in it.

we were best friends and it was devastaing to lose her.

OTWO- I agree with you- it's healthy to feel anger, but we can't let that anger or resentment rob us of the enjoyable things we can pursue in life at present. There has to be a balance indeed. How are you spreading TTATT?

just wondering if anyone has used any underhanded ways of spreading ttatt.

i mean, has anyone made up business cards or tracts and spread them far and wide?

i would love to engage in this "alternative witnessing".

I talk with everybody- non-JW's AND JW's about TTATT. When subjects come up in grocery stores about religion - I'll bring attention to the WT child abuse scandals. I've had some good experiences talking with the JW cart people in my little home town and have placed WT child abuse news releases with them numerous times. I've left those same WT child abuse news printouts at magazine racks outside of grocery stores, even inside grocery stores. Left them on news bulletin boards as well. I've also gone onto kingdom hall parking lots and left them under windshield wipers in order to inform JW's in my 3 county area about the child abuse scandals. I think it's good to get the word out to non-JW's and JW's as well. Doesn't bother me in the least. I'm glad to expose this criminal organization the WT Society. People need to be helped and people need to wake the hell up

BEAUTIFUL MIND- I understand your anger. My parents are around 90 years old now and have been in the JW cult for almost 65 years since 1951. Once they die- MY anger stems from the fact that they were lied to ALL these years that they would " live forever in a Paradise earth never dying " if they stayed "" faithful " to the WT Society.

And that will be a point I will bring up to my older JW brother and JW siblings at any funeral of my parents. That mom and dad were lied to. That they weren't SUPPOSED to die - according to their beliefs. WT lied to them. I'm angered for the WT Society wasting all of my mom & dad's years and that them following WT Society advice - has divided my JW family from those of us in the family who have escaped the cult. Anger ? You bet, I understand- I have lots of it and resentment too towards this criminal organization
