What Exactly are the Governing Body Members of the Jehovah's Witnesses trying to sell themselves As ?
by Finkelstein inthe watchtower corporation has been in existence for over 100 years now, originally headed by presidents and slew of recognized executive directors known as governing body members.. in 1919 the then president of the wts j rutherford proclaimed that god has exclusively chosen him and the wts as its earthly chosen organization among all other christian based faiths.. was this just a calculated self marketing ploy to create validation and to draw attention to the wts published works ?
the gb today still uses the assertion that god is backing this organization with that attaining exclusivity by god, jehovah blesses are work and jehovah had offered this, is constant reiterated in about every talk during most jws meetings.
is this just intentional adverse brainwashing ?

They're trying to sell themselves as the " final authority " on everything that 8 million JW's need to know to survive. They are trying to be God, Jehovah, and Jesus Christ all wrapped into one -

Why are so many Elders and Elders deleted so angry at the Flock?
by JWCartPusher inhas anyone else experienced the wrath of elders and ex-elders on innocent rank-and-file dubs?
what are these power hungry men and their wives so mad about?
where is the love we were promised when those witnesses spent hours indoctrinating us about the spiritual paradise of witnesses we would be joining?

But in answer to your thread question : " Why are elders so angry " ? Could be lots of reasons. They are in a patriarchal organization where they are the " middleman " so to speak, the go-between - between WT authorities and the publishers so a lot is expected of them, the pressure must be incredible. One reason I stayed an MS and never served as an elder. But the WT Society GB and leaders will throw these elders under the bus in court cases regarding child abuse and leave them twisting in the wind. That could cause anger. But they are probably angry also because as an elder you get to see more of the hypocrisy coming down from Bethel and see injustices in closed door meetings that the average rank & file JW would not see. So there is probably a lot of anger in elders knowing they have to follow such stupid ass leaders at Bethel - then be expected to insist the rank & file do so as well. I would imagine it doesn't make you many friends at the " publisher " level. So out of frustration some elders take it out on the flock and some elders are into hoarding authority over the flock just like WT leaders hoard authority over them. It's the trickle down effect of keeping power and control over people. So again- just my 2 cents -

" What shall I do , roll away ? " If by roll away you mean walk away from the organization- then yes, roll away. Even though I came from a very prominent JW family in my California area - I saw the injustices committed by my own elder dad for over 40 years. And I was on the receiving end of plenty of vitriol by elders who ran after me trying to DF me even 4 years after I left the JW cult. If you are on their radar- they will not stop until you either turn yourself in, give in , or come back in the organization. They will NOT give you an acceptable way to leave- if you're on their radar.
That being said one thing you can do - which I did myself- is move to another area where nobody knew you in the cult. That works very well because you don't end up bumping into these people all the time that you knew at Starbucks or grocery stores. It's nice not having to see their angry faces looking back at you. I even had elders chasing after me for awhile although I moved 80 miles away from my last congregation. Eventually they gave up when I threatened them with a lawsuit and they overturned my DFing. I won my appeal, they didn't want to drag in a tiger by the tail. They had a live one who challenged them and they didn't like it. So sometimes if they keep harassing you - then you have to fight fire with fire. But if they leave you alone- I would just as well leave well enough alone and get the hell out of their area. My 2 cents from one who has lived it

Governing Body Member Stephan Lett Lies On JW.TV
by Finkelstein ini thought it would be important to clearly point in the recent talk by governing body member stephan lett, that he did in fact deliberately lie concerning what he described as lies and false information by apostates, concerning the organization being permissive toward people in the organization who had been involved in pedophilia.
the truth of the matter is thats exactly what the organization has been doing and perhaps for a long time.
the recent candace conti law suit where she was awarded 28 million dollars was levied against the wts for its irresponsible behavior by the elders who gave no notification of the accused jonathan kendrick that he had been charged with pedophilia and spent months in jail for his actions .

FINKELSTEIN- You make a very good point that " JW elders and WT lawyers do not have the expertise to psychologically evaluate individuals who are mentally encased with particular sociological behavior. " Yeah, I totally agree. The GB can't even figure themselves out let alone evaluate other humans behavior- least of all determine who is a predator or who is not. Hell- WT leaders are predators themselves when you really sit back and analyze it. They prey on unsuspecting families by coercing JW's to shun family and coerce elders and others to stay silent regarding child abuse in the congregations- thus causing proliferation of felony child abuse to continue. Can't get much more predatory than that -

What did you become after leaving Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Garrett inhey guys,.
so, since my leaving i have been doing so much research on so many topics that it's been extremely enlightening.
not only have i learned a lot about the organization and what motivates it, but i have also learned a lot about the bible, god and most importantly, myself.. currently, i'm not quite sure where i stand, but i'm having some real issues with the bible and god.

I became myself after exiting the JW cult. My authentic, real self, not the WT trained cult self. And I found out that I really LIKE myself. I found out I had no need to feel an inferiority complex about myself. No need for fear or guilt. And now I treasure freedom of mind. Consider myself happily agnostic and I have no interest or need to know if there is a God or not. I just need to know and trust myself. I found that works a lot better -

How to get my kids out
by SaneAgain ini've been disfellowshipped for about 5 years and extremely happy to be out.
my ex wife is still a regular meeting attender and takes our two young kids with her (8 and 6 years old).
i recently saw some of the caleb and sophia videos on the jw.org website and was completely appalled, i remember what i was taught as a kid growing up in the organization but this seems so much worse and now that i'm out i can plainly see the mind control.

SANE AGAIN- Welcome to the board. I would recommend reading Steve Hassan's 3 books on dealing with mind control . His website is www.freedomofmind.com. The first book " Combatting Cult Mind Control " is good, but the next two books are even better in my opinion called " Releasing the Bonds- Empowering People to Think for Themselves " and " Freedom of Mind - Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults ad Beliefs ". All 3 of these books are excellent, read them and educate yourself about the best tactics to use in gradually getting your kids out of the JW cult. It's a time consuming involved process so be patient. Rome wasn't built in one night. Hang in there -

I agree with the points about it being ridiculous that the " branch " or WT headquarters determines WHO is a predator. Or who is even a serial child molester. The point I was making in my post from the 2012 WT letter to elders is that the WT Society leaders are not even following through on their own written directions to warn the parents in congregations about who is a predator or molester ! The GB is dropping the ball and not insisting that elders inform parents . Because of the legal ramifications, too much talk, too many loose lips talking about child abuse cases and people involved then voila ! - you have a firestorm of child abuse lawsuits BECOMING KNOWN among the congregation as well as the financial fallout- and THAT is what WT leaders want to avoid. Thus to the GB it's " silence is golden " about talking too much about the child abuse lawsuits . As Lett tried to accomplish just chalk it up to " apostates " speaking " lies " allegedly about the GB and turn the tables on where the blame should be laid.
When in actuality the blame needs to be laid squarely on the GB and WT leaders shoulders for NOT protecting and informing parents with minor children about pedophiles, predators, or child molesters in their midst. That is where the ball of responsibility is being dropped in an extreme way. And Richard Ashe is saying WT Society doesn't have that responsibility. It's being irresponsible at it's worst
