  Here's another take as I'm playing the Devil's advocate here. One of the protesters on the video mentioned seeing some JW lady crying in the kingdom hall , perhaps a couple JW's crying. O.K. So which one of us here is a mind reader who knows EXACTLY what these JW ladies were thinking as they were crying. None of us know EXACTLY what they were thinking- and that's the truth. It may have been these weeping JW's were experiencing cognizant dissonance and doubt and fear due to their indoctrination as JW's. Perhaps they were feeling a combination of ALL those emotions at one time. Which, yes - that can happen. Once again we don't know. It's not a case of " oh, these JW's were either feeling ALL this way, or ALL that way. " Perhaps some JW's who may have had doubts already got those doubts confirmed by these ex-JWs speaking out. And for those JW's who are still fanatic, deeply entrenched in their WT beliefs, it drove them deeper into their belief systems.

  Hey, you can't please everybody. Even if these Ex-JW's had pulled off a " perfect " protest - some here would still be bitching and disagreeing with tactics, motives, and effectiveness just purely based on the fact that they are " know it all's " in other aspects of their lives. O.K. End of my playing the Devil for now. Carry on , have a blast

  Thanks for posting the link to this letter. Interesting, no word in that letter about assisting ' worldly ' victims- just our ' brothers and sisters ' . The first 2 paragraphs of self congratulations and patting their own collective WT backs and ego about how ' caring ' the WT Society is to only their own - reminds me of self congratulatory messages Donald Trump always tweets about himself. Makes me want to puke

  i hope some of you can relate.

  if you can..i would love to hear from you.. i have been crushed and heartbroken more times than i can recount by a religion that claims to be based totally on love and mercy and most of that harm has come from the so called "shepherds" who or are supposed to lovingly take the stray lambs in their arms and lead them gently back to safety.

  Although not the most effective way to get JW's to think - ( persecution complex aside yada, yada, ) I agree with Dubstepped that if just one or two JW's start researching the Internet from this aggressive approach, it will be two less mind controlled drones trapped for their entire life. And before you start berating me Morpheus AKA " For fuck sake , nobody was started to thinking over it " ! I suppose you think you can read the mind of every single JW sitting in the infernal kingdom hall - we never can tell just who this behavior might scare straight.

  That being said - I wouldn't do it, I tend to have more calm one on one conversations with JW's approaching them casually on the streets. I do admire the balls, the fortitude of these ex-JWs though. These are people who, like us, have been hurt extremely by this criminal WT organization and there is such a thing as ' freedom of speech ' . That being said, indeed it might do some harm than good, but it might help someone get shocked to their senses as well.

  I don't spend my time 24 /7 as an EX-JW activist, I have lots of other interests & hobbies, like running a business, doing my music, but I do occasionally speak up against the WT and JW cult informing people in random situations. Even have left news flyers on information boards at supermarkets .

  Whatever it takes to expose the WT Society for being corrupt is a good thing. WT is busy dishing out shit about us as Ex-JWs - so what are we all gonna do ? Be quiet and STFU ? If we are totally quiet- what the hell does THAT accomplish ? Nothing.

  I see this as not an " all or nothing " type of thing. Black and white thinking on this board permeates something fierce. It's either " all this way " or " all that way " - but life is full of gray areas . How about landing somewhere in the middle and us personally doing what we can to expose the evils of the WT Society in our own way ? Just my 2 cents. O.K. Let the bullets fly. I have my freaking armor on. lol. Didn't tell you I'm an extra on ' Game of Thrones " I can take it , pretty tough hombre.

  let's play devils advocate here.. put yourself in the governing body's shoes.

  they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.

  they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).

  Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They've lied to all 8 million or so JW members for 138 years now that they'll allegedly " live forever " which is false and a rip off and a scam. The WT powers that be at the top seem more interested in taking the money and running away with it by demanding ownership of the kingdom halls and selling them off ! With evil, selfish, money grubbing , corrupt corporate WT leaders leading this organization- the only thing WT leaders are interested in is turning " around " the organization to suit there own financial interests. They don't give a damn about throwing 8 million JW's under the bus in any way, shape, or form. WT leaders are narcissistic , sociopath's and have no ethics whatsoever. It's all about the money

  i bring this up because like me i sure many of the men who was kids in the wt cult got their first taste of what a nude women looked like.

  it was the adolescent male sex education for most of us.

  one friend i had who's dad was a elder told me they always had playboys in his house because his dad subscribed to them.

  STILL TOTALLY ADD- Good thread. Rest in peace Hugh Hefner. Although I feel that most extreme porn magazines devalue women by turning them into objects , which I feel is really classless and sad - at least Playboy over the years had articles that were on the cutting edge of journalism. Even articles that educated folks about sex. And yes, as a JW teenager growing up , the pictures of beautiful women definitely gave me an education about the female anatomy that I wouldn't have acquired from reading the WT or Awake magazines ! lol.

  But you are right- being raised by a strict elder dad myself , sex was always portrayed as " unclean " or " dirty " - I mean my elder dad infringed on my personal life at age 13 or 14 asking me if I had a problem with masturbation ! WTF ? Then he proceeded to read me this 6 page WT article titled " Breaking Free from Self Abuse " . And as I got older into my 20's I formed my own opinions that there was NOTHING abusive about masturbation at all ! It felt normal, good ! I mean even in that WT article it mentioned that 95 % of males on the planet and 65 % of females masturbated- so HOW in the hell could it be considered " abusive " ? It was NORMAL human behavior. And pictures from Playboy helped form a normal desire for beauty and intimacy with females - at least for me as a teenager. I certainly didn't get any sex education that was normal from Jehovah's Witnesses.

  And as I write this now as a male in my late 50's all I can say is that my sex life has been fulfilling and normal because I did NOT let the WT Society skew my views of truly how wonderful sex can be ! I' ve never felt inhibited or that sex is somehow " dirty " or " unspeakable " - it can be a beautiful experience between two consenting adults in expressing love or if not love , at least emotional closeness between two willing adult parties. I think the sad thing on our planet is how repressive organized religions have defined sex and unnecessarily made millions of people feel " guilt " over having sex. To me - that's the real crime regarding views of sex in our society. Hope this little " essay " is what you were looking for ! lol

  Well, I was wrong - Houston didn't win it in game 6 , but they did win it all in game 7. I just felt Houston had a lot more powerful hitters than L.A. who could knock the cover off the baseball. Home runs traveling over 460 feet . Amazing. Usually great pitching beats great hitting ; but not this year. These Houston players were a powerhouse for sure. I don't think any team would have beat them. Congratulations to Houston for beating my Giants rivals the Dodgers ! This will be a great pick me up for the Houston area after going through so much sadness and devastation from Harvey

  heart attack 2nd anniversary.

  hi lovely folk,.

  two years ago today i had a ha.. i have just re-read the kind words of support from you folks wherever on earth you be and they are still warming to me.. i have had a bypass op done re-hab and learned to live again.. i am on permanent meds and do lots of walking.

  since the op i have walked 545 kilometres and worn out a pr of boots.. i walk with walking poles and they mean you take in 25% more o2 than without.

  Faced with the reality of mortality

  how have you all coped with facing the reality of our mortality?.

  most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.

  we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.

  STUCK IN A RUT- Great thread and topic, and I really hear you, really empathize as I was born & raised a JW from birth until exiting 14 years ago at age 44 in 2003. I have felt your same anger towards the WT Society about this fake " living forever " teaching ; but I've felt more anger over this on behalf of my aged JW parents who died this last year at 91 and 89 years old as they wasted over 65 years in this criminal organization Jehovahs Witnesses. I get so pissed off about their having been duped - that I actually brought it up to the JW cart people before telling them not to waste their lives and that my parents were lied to.

  I started having doubts about the " living forever " thing some years before I exited the cult so what I started doing then while still a JW and what my mantra is now is that I live in the here and now constantly. I live every moment, everyday like it might be my last and I don't take living in the here and now for granted. I stop and smell the roses in my life along the way instead of always being in such a hurry as to not notice just a simple, beautiful sunset, peaceful time sitting on my deck at our mountain home feeling the breeze on my face drinking a beer enjoying my wife's company, our cats or dog ; simple things matter . While sitting on my deck that's the time songs will come to me, and I get my guitar out and just start writing thoughts out that swim around in my head while picking different chords on the guitar and before I know it- a song starts evolving !

  It's moments like these that I've come to appreciate on a daily basis. I stay busy working at our property cutting wood, tending the vegetable garden we have, and being thankful for what I DO have in my life, not worrying about what I cannot control - like " living forever " which is an unreality. At the end of our life all we can really do is to hopefully try to look back with no regrets and try to be happy with the good friends we've made, the love we have spread out to those friends and received it back again to ourselves. What were the Beatles last words on the Abbey Road album ? " And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make. " So if we keep sending out love to people we consider friends who are important in our life ; making love in many different ways , we will receive that back many times in ways we didn't expect. I guess it's constantly having this view that keeps me positive. I get down like everybody ; but I try not to let it dominate me or define who I am. That's all I can say Stuckinarut.
