So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?
by Simon init seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.
i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

Bless your heart, azor. This kind of arguing is exhausting and I sure hope it accomplishes something.
My personal view of the whole march is that the chickens are coming home to roost. The lower classes are getting desperate. It's kind of like panic. To ask what they are marching for - I think what they all have in common is a sense of urgency.
The new government has a good portion of people who think God favors them. Yikes. The poor may be thought of expendable. There are plenty of them, after all.
Some of the marchers have a very clear purpose and hopefully will organize. Some are unstable to begin with. Some are the left's Trump personality - Madonna.
I am 61 - my generation has seen the steady growth of inequality. A lot of us have been working full time, 2 jobs at times, have never gotten ahead because of the real wages falling. It was different for my parents. They don't want to see it - they voted for Trump.
Trump may "create jobs" but what will the wages be.
Overall I don't have a lot of hope for change. Look what happened to Arab Spring and other uprisings in recent years. You can vote people in but if the ruling class cant bribe or blackmail them, they can always threaten them.
I hope a little caffeine will lift my mood this morning.

Holy shit. The attitude here is a perfect example of why people feel the need to march.
Those doggone females and races oughtta be glad for what they got. "The left" as if it is one big homogenous entity.
Just check out the crap this new administration is pulling. It is pretty scary to anyone who isn't in the higher income brackets.
Down through history, when the upper class goes too far in taking it all for themselves, the masses get hopeless, violent and they riot.
I read and listen, and talk to people from all over the right/left spectrum. You can pick and choose excuses for all this but it's obvious if you just look.

This is just another incidence of how the WT Society through it's indoctrination causes JW's to NOT honor proper personal boundaries. It's really what mind control cults do. I subscribe to Notjustyet's suggestion to put poison Ivy or poison Oak extract in the lotion- might teach this single guy a valuable lesson- or not. Still it serves the purpose to show him to keep away from this lady who has a husband and who doesn't want to be bothered.
But like others have mentioned here- I saw this kind of behavior thousands of times within the JW organization when I was in it for 44 years. It's disrespectful and ridiculous that JW authority driven men who view themselves as " superior " to women cannot respect a female the way well balanced men in the real world do. I blame the WT cult indoctrination

Landy and Richard - it's true LITS may be sounding like a broken record here.
I think she has a very good reason considering her cause is to keep attention on the WT problems with sexual abuse, which then will protect children.
I'm not sure what your reasons are for being so tenacious. If you are jws, perhaps to get brownie points with Jehovah? If not, maybe just plain bullying.
Over the 10 years I have known LITS I have seen people try to discourage her - I think some people have resented that she has more heart and integrity than they do.

Broken record?
Hey - whatever it takes to get the message out about this cult's despicable policies.

TV commercial seen in the United States, from a Law firm "Asking if you were ever sexually abused by JEHOVAHS WITNESSES, please call".
by Dunedain inok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.
if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.
however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

LITS - your justice streak can really piss people off , as we've seen on some of these threads. Well, too bad.
I for one really appreciate your willingness to stand up to the bullies - for years. I have absolutely no doubts that your efforts in your city have prevented further child abuse just by scaring the hell out of those creepy elders and their superiors too.
The ads put out by these lawyers will do the same thing by putting a spotlight on the JW coverup of child abuse.
The elders and other JW enablers may not give a rat's ass about the safety of children but they sure don't want to get sued. They are probably already busy trying to figure out how to put the blame on their fellow elders.

FEDUPJW- The protest wasn't JUST about treatment of women. It was about equal rights for minorities, women, fair and just treatment for all citizens of the United States including middle and lower class health care which has both men and women equally up in arms right now. I felt the protest was a good thing. Apparently millions of people worldwide felt the same

AZOR- I agree with your opening thread. I understand and get why not only women, but men as well were demonstrating . It's to give a STRONG warning to the Trump administration that many people in America and the free world ACROSS the world are NOT going to allow him to exploit the office of president to control, slash freedoms of minorities, women, lower and middle class Americans by stealing their health care without replacing it as well. And then you throw in the Russian hacking of the election- and THIS is the result- millions of people demonstrating in the streets in rebellion against what they see as prejudiced and unjust leadership.
My mom who just died was the main person in my life who taught me respect, dignity, diplomacy, kindness, and justice towards all people. I learned that from a WOMAN a FEMALE. My dad not so much. His main concern was being an elder in the JW organization.
Donald Trump is the epitome of what a dictator is- arrogant, controlling, self absorbed, he's more concerned about his outward appearance or how many tweets he gets- as opposed to middle and lower class Americans getting fair and just treatment. If he could abolish " freedom of press " or " freedom of speech " from the constitution- he would do it.
I really fear for this country and where it's headed as this ignorant man takes office. Like Sting said in a song " History will Teach us Nothing " - I fear that statement is so true for many people in this country. But at least over a million people worldwide stood up for values and justice yesterday and will hopefully continue as time goes on. We can only hope it has some effect on the current U.S. administration

I believe these demonstrations were meant for the Trump administration in a manner kind of like what happens in wars or battles- it was a warning shot fired across and over the Trump administration's bow of their governmental ship.
Not only females attended these huge demonstrations worldwide ( many major cities and even Alaska and Antarctica ) but many males as well who stood up demonstrating for equal and fair rights not just for women's issues, but minorities, lower and middle class people, and many were being VERY vocal that they aren't going to take or accept anything less than equal and fair treatment.
I get that completely- I don't see how that's hard to understand. Following all of the racist, sexist, and completely insane remarks Trump stood by while he ran for president- and is STILL stating - the mainstream American public are in fear. And having come from a mind control cult - most of us know how FEAR and the proverbial rattling of the saber from a power monger like Trump can affect people. I mean look at his speech to the CIA for Christ's sakes - the guy was blathering on about the media and how many people were at his inauguration.
It does not bode well for the United States of America when we have in power at the most important position in the country - a sociopathic, self absorbed narcissist who is more concerned about how many tweet followers he has than how fairly the American people are treated. The guy acts like a 12 year old brat or frat boy who seems like somebody just stole his lunch money at school or something. I've never seen such immaturity at such a highly visible level in a government " leader " . So scared. yeah- I'm scared as hell ! Not only for me but the rest of the free world.
The way this guy lashes out at the media ? You'd think he's already got scripted and written down some amendments to replace the one in the constitution about " freedom of press " . Come on folks- does history teach us nothing ? Remember about 80 years ago a weird little guy with a creepy moustache named Hitler came onto the world scene ? Wake up and smell the coffee is my take on this.
And by the way - the comparison to L. Ron Hubbard is a pretty close analogy for Trump. He wants to be seen as a dictator- plain and simple. His way - or the highway. This is like watching the " emperor who has no clothes " - I swear
