My wife and I watched this as well. Both Leah Remini and Mike Rinder did well in their interviews exposing the Scientology and like Long Hair Gal stated- naturally- the Scientology attorney just made lame ass excuses for David Miscavige denying everything that Remini and Rinder brought up. It did seem like a GB member being defensive for the WT Society. But it's great Leah Remini and Mike Rinder are getting this out into the public more so - as it will start making people think of how seemingly outwardly religions might look " respectable " but what happens on the inside behind closed doors is way more criminal and unethical

Anyone else watching the Leah Remini series "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath" on A&E?
by NikL inmy wife and i started to watch this last night and have covered only 2 episodes so far but it is really interesting.. there are so many similarities between scientology and wt.
not in beliefs of course but in their shunning, of their version of apostates etc.. it was amusing for me to see my active jw wife watch and get all indignant.
at one point a statement was made that a religion "shouldn't separate families" and she muttered to herself "absolutely not".. i am kind of hoping that jws will watch and see what is being carried on by a high control cult and eventually recognize it in their own lives.

In watching this latest episode where the ex-Scientologist cried for the lost years he shunned his brother and cried about his brothers death. I was sitting there crying for him- but in a way I felt I was crying over my strained relationships with my own JW siblings that have been lost for years now. I am so different from my JW family- it's like day and night.
I swear to god- sometimes I think I had an alien father impregnate my mom years ago because SHE is the only person in my family that I was like in personality. Trying to be kind . The rest of my JW immediate family act like a pack of wolverines. It's incredible. I definitely relate to what this man experienced in this particular scientology episode ( P.S. Everybody hug each other today- O.K. ? ) Hugs are good.

ABELIEVER- You are an owl with glasses whose wings are in time going to be clipped off if you stay affiliated with the Jehovah's Witnesses mindset - as they are a criminal organization that aids and protects child molesters and instructs their elders to report abuses to the WT legal department before reporting offenses to police- if they do at all, many times they don't.
Thousands are dying in the Jehovah's Witness religion due to following the WT Society's instructions to NOT take life saving blood transfusions, even minor children are being killed in this way. Also thousands of people are shunned by their families and are being cut off just because they stop attending meetings without being disfellowshipped. Some of these people commit suicide due to the pain of being shunned.
So if you can support THIS kind of an organization without feeling pain in your conscience over these crimes - then you are an ostrich sticking your head in the sand and not wanting to see reality. I advise you to fly away from this criminal organization while you still have your owl wings - because once you get baptized your wings or freedom gets clipped - and it will be too late- you are under WT control. I would bolt for freedom if I were you and please research the Internet and put some real into your reality. Take care, peace out, Mr. Flipper

WHAT IS TRUTH ? - Great thread. I agree with you about never stepping foot inside a kingdom hall unless a close relative or friend I knew was a JW died and has a memorial service. Those kingdom halls creep me out big time now.
As regards your question in your thread " What is Freedom to You ? "
My view of freedom is to be able to live my life as I want to live it without being told what or how to think from unethical or corrupt individuals who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground . ( AKA WT Society leaders or any other mind control cult ) . To be able to think, write songs of freedom, speak openly about the rights and freedom of all people without giving a flying poop of what people think or how they judge me.
Also to exercise my freedoms in ways that it allows others to still keep their dignity intact and their freedom of mind intact as well. To openly express my views in a firm, yet respectful manner even though others may differ. And to never allow a group of men or an organization to control my life again where my potential or abilities are wasted and not appreciated. Also freedom to me is openly expressing affection or love for friends, children, marriage partner, or family without fear or reservation of criticism from controlling people. Freedom is to never allow anybody to control me again in my life as I was when enslaved in the mind control cult Jehovah's Witnesses. Freedom to read, explore openly other thought processes and keep an open mind to the world around me to intelligently see what is happening. Staying informed with access to information in a broad manner. That is freedom that can open minds and heal

The show that aired on Jan. 3rd was VERY revealing and exposing of the shunning , or the " disconnection " practice put forth by Scientologists towards friends or family that leave the church. It was disgusting that the Scientology church told this one Scientologist that he couldn't go to his deceased brothers funeral because his brother was ex-communicated from the church or a " suppressive " person. So the church even wants them to shun their relatives when they are dead ! Cannot show support even when they die ! Extremely disgusting and extremely like Jehovah's Witnesses. The comparisons are astounding. I felt so sorry for this Ex-Scientologist crying for his brother who died . The years he was disconnected from his brother who left the cult and died- can never be restored or lived again. Very sad. I highly recommend watching this show if you haven't seen it -

Girls are unpredictable, materialist, and use us, men, as a toy - Part 2
by will-be-apostate inwell here am i, a couple of years passed since my original post (link here), somewhat less mysoginistic, more open to relationships, heartbroken again.
this is an official "fuck my life" thread.. being chased by the elders makes one arrive at the conclusion that there is nothing better than not being chased by the elders.
i had a pre-jc meeting a week ago.

Dude- Hey I'm sorry your heart was broke- but seriously dude- just as many men out in the real world use women up and leave them as well. The games men and women play using sex as a bargaining tool never ends. Some people use sex as a weapon to bash someone's brains apart ( emotionally ) - some people honestly have sex because they actually love and care for the person they are having sex with.
Just because a good number of ladies might be nice to you- doesn't mean they want sex with you- they may just actually want friendship without the balls hanging and croaking , spurting lizard my friend . As you get older and more experienced with female relationships I believe you'll understand that more so.
I had my heart broken several times as a younger man. NOW I'm in my 50's and a lot smarter regarding relationships- finally found a lady over 10 years ago who I clicked with. You'll find it too, just look at the shit you go through as learning experiences and you'll gradually get closer to what you want. Good luck, peace out, MR. Flipper

Mom died, How and When I found out
by 3rdgen inhi friends,.
it's been awhile since i've been talkative.
thought i'd give you an account of my latest family dysfunction.. a brief backstory is that i am an only child whose parents were born in jw's.

3RDGEN- Been out of town a few days and just saw this thread today. I'm so sorry for your loss as I lost my mom about a month ago as well. But I'm even more sorry that your mom was not there for you emotionally or in any other way. I can relate to your experience because my dad was exactly the same way. Nothing I ever did pleased him- just like your mom with you. The mental abuse we suffered in this criminal organization the JW's- is monstrous and nasty.
I found out from my son that apparently my JW brother, an elder, had not told his fellow JW's that he had a younger brother either. Because a " sister " asked my son " who are you " ? And he said " I'm Flipper's son, Flipper's the younger brother of the brother who gave the talk " and the JW lady said, " I didn't know he had a younger brother. " Then my older brother said in front of my son, " Oh yes, he's the " black sheep " of the family. " Nice " Christian " thing to say right ? Yet WHO was it that sat up all night the final 12 hours with my mom dying until her last breath ? Yep- the " black sheep " of the family.
Don't let the bastards grind you down my friend, most of those JW's are clueless, they have no heart and they are jealous of US because they realize they'll never have as much heart as we do. Don't worry about impressing them- they are not worth the effort. They are wolves and jackals. Hang in there, my wife and I are very sorry for your lost years with your mom. With love to you, sincerely, Mr. Flipper & Mrs. Flipper

Thanks for posting this thread Barbara- and even yet the WT Society STILL supports thousands of child molesters within their congregations insisting elders not contact police until WT legal departments are informed of child abuse incidents. I'm quite sure most of the local JW's in this man's area learned of his child abuse crimes from watching the news on channel 5 - not from local elders. And THAT is one of the big problems- JW parents are constantly sitting in a kingdom hall with their children right along side a child molester- without even knowing it. That is dangerous shit. And another irresponsible evidence that the WT Society is indeed a criminal organization- protecting criminals

Honest Questions About Child Abuse
by Richard Oliver ini have two honest questions for everyone here.
i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.

And here's the deal in an added thought about WT leaders doing mandatory background checks on potential elder appointees or ministerial servant appointees. Someone may say " Oh ! This would be too expensive to do these checks ! " And yet - WT Society has made over a Billion $$$$ on the sales of their New York facilities and even more selling off many kingdom halls - I think they have PLENTY of money to do these background checks. It would protect more children from child abuse AND it would lessen the need for paying out millions $$$ in out of court child abuse settlements .
Bottom line ? I feel WT leaders are too arrogant to do what I'm recommending. They'll never admit fault or admit negligence. They think THEY are God . Seriously
