My Mother reach out to me AGAIN!
by HereIgo inabout 3 weeks ago i created a thread due to my mom reaching out to me (we hadn't talked in over 2 years due to typical jw politics).
well, today she reached out again thought facebook messenger saying " i'm so sorry i hurt you my beautiful baby boy.
i'm hurting very much also.

HEREIGO- Interesting communication from your mom. Another thing you might tell her to allay her fears is, " Mom I'm the same son, the same guy that you raised to show love to people and show kindness to them , I haven't changed in my personality one bit. But my conscience won't allow me to support injustices I've come to research. I still love you and respect that you remain a JW , there's no reason for our differences to keep us apart."
I agree with Tiki here that your mom is feeling guilt within herself in her " gut feeling " that you are right about the WT Society and I agree that you should keep communication going , but avoid getting into a pissing war with her about JW stuff. Just talk about family, mundane things, weather, how you care about her, her health - but you need to understand that JW's are triggered and trained to defend their faith due to the mind control - if we start arguing or debating with them about the WT Society- we will not win that battle . It's like beating our head on a brick wall due to their deep indoctrination.
And anyway- it's not about winning battles with them or winning debates with them- it's about getting them to eventually THINK about things with an open , free thinking mind. If you haven't read Steve Hassan's 3 books on how to reach loved ones who are under cult mind control I HIGHLY recommend it. His website is : www.freedomofmind.com. His books are also on sale used on Amazon, or other locations on the Internet. It's going to require patience to get your mom to think- but it's worth it- it appears she still loves you and is feeling some guilt and misgivings about your relationship being strained, so now is a great time to do some homework and devise a plan. Give it time bro. Good luck, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Survey: Are you Agnostic or Atheist or Christian?

Agnostic. Like the comedian Bill Maher- I'm of the school " I don't know " . And I'm happy to be in that school and it doesn't bother me in the least to " not know " . Won't affect how I live my life . Nobody has all the answers. We learn about life as we go along and live it

Have the Elders ever been instructed by their bethel to call the police for abuse?
by StephaneLaliberte inright now, there are a lot of talks on this topic in quebec and, at the mid week meeting, they are reading the letter sent in 2002 where it states that the elders will call the authorities if the law forces them to.
the strange thing is, it looks like even when there are laws to that effect, jws seem to believe that it does not apply to them.
for instance, i know that they do not report anything in quebec, even if it is the law!

STEPHANE- Great thread, thanks for posting it. I'm in total agreement with you. These jackasses at WT headquarters that run this organization don't give a rats behind about the safety of child victims of sexual abuse. The only thing they care about is the financial fallout and liability and bad press in the news media they get from their piss poor child abuse policies.
To my knowledge it's very rare that elders ever report these crimes to police at all. I believe the current instructions in their latest elders manual tell them to not prevent publishers in the congregation to report child abuse - that JW individuals " have the right " to report it- but it still doesn't instruct elders to TELL JW's to report child abuse- it's up to each individual. It's a disgusting policy- to say the least.
And what makes it worse is elders are ALWAYS instructed to call WT legal department first before EVER talking to attorneys , law enforcement, etc. In fact as the case goes on the elders aren't allowed to talk to prosecuting attorneys at all unless those attorneys prosecuting a JW child molester have talked to WT legal. I remember that is in the new elders manual from a couple years ago. WT is all about protecting the money - period. Nothing else. Pretty disgusting

Do any of the governing body of JWs exercise their conscience?
by Half banana inthe members of the governing body, by being at the reins of a large corporation, must be confronted with situations which force them to think about the validity of their doctrines.. the australian royal commission hearing must have highlighted for the gb, especially jackson, the rational inconsistency of using an iron age dictum of "two witnesses" in a world which has moved beyond such rough justice.
today we have a scientific approach, we examine forensically, we have psychologists who can tell us about individual's minds and behaviour.
today, children's voices are not ignored.. the first and last resort of jws and their leaders is the doctrine of the "inerrancy of the bible".

No. None of them have a conscience. They are a bunch of sociopaths

Lunch today with.. JW step father....
by raven init has been a while since i've posted, i think its because i have finally gotten some peace and quiet as far as harassment from the jw elders.. my step father, the one who reported me to the elder police for a sinful act invited me to lunch today.. it has been almost a year since the incident, we have talked here and there, it has been just casual though.
he says he is in town for work and asked if i would like to meet up for lunch, i couldn't think of any excuses so i agreed.. i hope it goes well, hope that we don't go into the jw nonsense.
hope he doesn't bring elders with him, am i paranoid or what?

RAVEN- Enjoy your lunch with your stepdad- carefully. Don't assume he won't bring up JW topics- because he probably will. Just thank him for his concern and don't give out any personal information about your living situation. Talk about the weather , movies, Donald Trump - don't set yourself up because he just possibly may be setting you up. Be cautious. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper P.S. Thanks for commenting on my mom, I appreciate your kindness.

What is life?
by punkofnice inwhen i was a jobo, i used to thing of 'life without end at laaaasssssst'.. having been on my journey out of the wbt$ slaveholdery, i have found that something that makes sense is that life doesn't owe us a meaning.
psalms 146:4 was actually bangeth on the money-eth 'his breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.'.
although i am now very atheist, and really do not even think there is the remotest possibility of a god, that bible passage is correct.

With that being said- I like how Outlaw copes quite well. Those are similar interests I've had in my life as well. LOL

PUNK- I'm of the school of " I don't know " what comes after death. Kind of like the comedian Bill Maher's thoughts if you watch his documentary " Religulous " . Very good. I highly recommend it.
The way I cope is like you, play music, write songs , create, I live each day in the here and now getting the most out of life everyday. Live each day like it's my last - as you just never know. If I want to show love to somebody I give them a hug, I avoid negative people who suck the life out of me and are psychological vampires. That helps a lot.
I surround myself with people who accept me for who I am- not around people who try to mold me into being something I'm not. I take control of my life and I don't delegate my soul for anybody else's decision making processes. These are just a few tips that help me cope. I wish we could have a beer and chips someday friend. Who knows ? If I hit the jackpot before I die maybe we'll hit the pub someday and play each other our songs. Would love to do that with you someday. Take care friend- Like Jethro Tull said in the song " Nothing is Easy " - " Your fingers may freeze, worse things happen at sea, there's good times to be had. " Hope this cheers you up a bit mate. Peace out from across the pond. Mr. Flipper

Do you use a dictionary?
by compound complex inin my work, i rely upon google for quick answers on definition (denotation), pronunciation (audio), etymology, shades of meaning (connotation), etc.. what i really mean is, do you use an actual unabridged websters, the one you get a hernia lifting?
i ask because, last night, i was tired of fighting with my two ailing computers and decided to pull the big book off the shelf.
it was great, hearkening back to olden times -- childhood -- when i read real books and periodicals and wrote unknown words into a notepad (the paper sort) and pored over old noah's offerings.. your thoughts?.

My wife and I are big Scrabble players. We are constantly using the dictionary to not only check the spelling of words but to learn the definitions of words we don't know. WE do that when reading books too . Peace out, Mr . FLIPper
