Leah Remini - Scientology
by tresdecu inlast night on 20/20, they did an interview with leah remini (american actress know for king of queens tv show) she was raised in scientology since the age of 8, and recently left rather publicly.
she re-enforced what we all know, that they are bat shit crazy (like any cult) but also talked about how hard is it to leave something that's been a part of you for so long.. so many interesting parallels to our world (former world) of jw'dumb.
it's a great ep to watch with someone you are trying to awaken.

My wife and I watched this and Leah was very to the point about exposing the indiscretions of the Scientology cult and it's leader and Tom Cruise. It's amazing that all of her family including her mom got out of the cult when she did. Too bad many of us as ex-JW's aren't as lucky. Many of us have family still in. Yeah- If they post this on you tube I highly recommend that anybody watch this- it was good. The parallels to the JW cult are uncanny -

Money woes show it ain't the truth
by OnTheWayOut injehovahs people do not beg for money.
[...] we have never considered it proper to solicit money for the lords cause, after the common custom .
it is our judgment that money raised by the various begging devices in the name of our lord is offensive, unacceptable to him, and does not bring his blessing either upon the givers or the work accomplished.

WT Society SEC Records : Hedge Funds, Cayman Islands, Financial Losses - Links
by flipper inso my wife and i were curious so i researched some financial links and found records indicating that the wt society has been operating at a loss since the year 2012. as you read the links it shows a loss of 10 million $$$ in 2012, about 16 million $$$ in 2013, and a whopping loss of 56 million $$$ in 2014 - where the expenditures exceeded the revenues for each of those years in the amount i've mentioned.
also there is a link on this same website with the sec records indicating that the wt society and it's representatives funneled 40 million $$$$ into hedge funds in the cayman islands as early as 2007. if you look online on other sites you can see evidence that indicates the wt society attended hedge fund conferences to look into more shadiness in 2011 and isn't it curious that by 2012 the wt society started showing losses.
anyway here is the link : https://www.watchtowerlies.com/the_watchtower_revenue.html .. feel free to check this link out and other links on that link indicating the cayman island connection.

So after listening to and watching GB member Herd's excuses for laying off Bethelites and stopping worldwide construction- compare what he stated with this information in this thread. Can anybody say " cover up " ? Peace out, Mr. Flipper -

Elders are Complicit with WT Society in Child Abuse Scandals- Gonzalo Campos Case
by flipper inof course, most of us realize this.
however sometimes even on this board sometimes threads have stated that the jw elders have been occasionally painted as the " fall guys " who take the rap for the wt society leaders - which of course is true - to a degree.
however- that being said , many times elders have failed to protect - or even have failed to advocate for child abuse victims when it has been within their power to do so.

Saw this had been bumped up .
VIDIOT- Interesting points you bring up. Indeed- if the WT Society took seriously deleting any elders ho had child abuse pasts it may limit big time the amount of " brothers " who might be " used " in that capacity. But come to think of it- those names would include GB members or C.O.'s or D.O. 's who were child molesters too.
Bottom line is WT leaders don't want to have their dirty laundry exposed at all so they can still operate financially. It's all about the money and if they can't keep up a good cover to rank & file JW's they'd lose too much of their donations

ANNOUNCEMENT CLIP ...2015 Annual meeting Sam Herd confirming what we knew a month ago about slow down and halt of worldwide construction

Amazing spin these nutcases put on this. Herd states, the slowing down of construction and laying off of Bethel members, " isn't due to the lack of you brothers and sisters generous donations " . Then WTF is it ?
Herd's statement in that sentence SHOULD have continued like this, " It isn't due to the lack of you brothers and sisters generous donations ; it's just that we had some bad financial advice from our senior WT financial consultants to put a lot of your money and donations into risky investments and hedge funds - so brothers we as the Governing Body are " imperfect " and are not " inspired " by God - but please be assured that this direction from Jehovah to " cut back " will have good reasons as we move forward in the future regarding Kingdom " interests ". We'll understand this " new light " down the road. Be patient and let us fuck up your financial welfare even more- there are expanding interests of our organization at stake. Be assured of our " warm Christian love ". Peace out, Mr. Flipper

BEAUTIFUL MIND- Congratulations to you and your husband for both waking up to getting back your freedom of mind and freedom of movement in your lives. Just before I stopped attending for good back in 2003 I also experienced the lack of love, lack of caring from anybody in the congregation . Everybody seemed so fake, just putting up a façade of showing genuine interest in me- and I was experiencing unjust treatment after being reinstated for a year and a half. I asked myself, " Was I DFed for 4 years to come back to THIS treatment ? " I thought . " I'd rather be DFed ! " So I stopped cold turkey, became inactive and never went back. As you said, best decision I ever made -

Grandparents take disfellowshipped daughter to court to insist on right to preach to four year old
by usualusername1 inhttp://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/jehovah-s-witness-grandparents-ordered-to-keep-faith-to-themselves-1.3282193 .
a pair of devout jehovah's witnesses have been ordered by a b.c.
provincial court judge not to talk about religion in front of their four-year-old granddaughter.. the couple lost their bid for unsupervised access to the girl because they insisted on taking her to worship at their faith's kingdom hall despite the repeated objections of the child's mother.. the girl is identified only as a.w.

A HUGE problem within the Jehovah's Witness organization is a rabid lack of respect for non-Witnesses personal boundaries. Any mother or father who is raising a child has the right to decide what that child learns. This story in the opening thread could be repeated thousands of times even as JW's go knocking on doors of people they are trying to convert. It's really even disrespectful to make return visits on ANY minor children when you think about it without authorization from their parents.
I remember years ago when I used to be a JW getting negative feedback from parents of teenagers I used to place literature with ; and the parents would tell their teenagers I couldn't call on them anymore or the parent would come to the door saying to " stop calling on my child, we're not interested. " And THAT is as it should be. JW's do NOT have the right to force their religious beliefs on anyone ; much less a minor child. JW's do NOT honor personal boundaries. For most JW's there ARE no boundaries

I'm not religious I'm spiritual?
by Joliette inhow do you guys feel when you hear people say this?
whenever i tell people that i'm not religious, a humanist, they said i'm not religious either, i'm spiritual.
i consider myself to be a humanist, and i can't tell you guys how happy i am being a humanist.

Definition of spiritual in the Webster's Dictionary : " 1. Of the spirit or the soul as distinguished from the body or material matters 2. of, from, or concerned with the intellect ; intellectual 3. of or consisting of spirit ; not corporeal 4. characterized by the ascendancy of the spirit ; showing much refinement of thought and feeling 5. of religion or the church ; sacred, devotional, or ecclesiastical ; not lay or temporal 6. spiritualistic or supernatural - n. 1. any of a type of American folk hymn ; any of such songs originating among U.S. blacks in the 18th and 19th centuries combining African and European musical elements 2. religious or church matters. "
So definitely spirituality covers a large brushstroke for different people . Personally I'm like you Joliette- I consider myself a humanist who gets " spiritual " feelings from doing OTHER things that are not religious. Like enjoying the company of close friends . I feel " spiritual " when I play music , write songs, or just practice guitar on my deck looking out over the forest and canyons . I feel a " spirituality " well up in me when I walk in meadows, near rivers, lakes, and remote mountain canyons as it helps a person think deeply using their " refinement of thought and feeling " mentioned in definition # 4.
I'm definitely NOT religious in any sense of the word - but feel I can be spiritual in an assortment of ways ! Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
