nostalgia for something JW
When you were a kid, did your book study conductor assign the children projects like memorizing the order of a certain number of Bible books. From that experience I can still name them off in rapid order: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, etc. etc. etc. Do BS conductors still do things like that for the kids?
More nostalgia: Do you remember "unassigned territory"?

Do you remember that old green songbook "Songs to Jehovah's Praise"? I just went and fished it out of my "old treasures" and was shocked at how much I still remember by heart of that old book. Song #4, "Be Glad, You Nations, with His People!"; "Forward! You Witnesses!" (starts out "Firm and determined in this time of the end...."with a military beat); "Jehovah God, My Shepherd" Song #30; "The Divine Pattern of Love"; "Then They Will Know"; "Flee to the Kingdom"; #73, "All Things New"....no more will there be pain or crying, No sorrowing nor any dying; For God has said: "I will make all things new. Trustworthy these words and true!"
(I've just had severe flashbacks to five years old sitting in an unairconditioned K.H. peeling the paint off the hard back chairs we had to sit in and singing "To the Work!", song #79)
All those old songs had great Choruses.

It's more of a fusia color than pink to me (a really awful pink at best). Yes, I have a couple of them. Also, when my mother died a few years ago, I kept one of the very old green paper song books she had in her possessions from the 1950's. She was the piano player for our Kingdom Hall, and it has her pencil notations in it, so it's sentimental to me from my childhood. I even played for a wedding in the early 70's using that green songbook. Gosh, what memories!

by Witness 007 inyearbook 75 p.223-224 witness couple and their 6 day old cheryl, who needed blood.
"darell and rhoda correctly viewed blood transfusion as a violation of god's law, and thus oposed it.
they were concerned about the babies welfare, for everlasting life is only the prospect of those adhering to god's laws.

What do you bet if you asked ten JWs this question, none of them would know this is their religion's stance on this. I guarantee none of them would know that it's the baby whose everlasting life would be in jeopardy.

Someone should ask "baby" Cheryl who is now 32 years old whether she wishes she had died rather than take that blood transfusion.

When you think about it, isn't it amazing that something as simple as carving a pumpkin is a big deal to ex-jws? The first time you participate in even a small "worldly" activity, you feel so-o-o liberated!
Beautiful carving, exwitless!

Why do you think they need guards? Are they afraid someone might do them harm? Who would want to do that? Surely not some "apostate" angry that his whole life was ruined by a fanatical cult; angry that when he chose to quietly leave it meant the loss of long time friends and even family; angry that he was made to believe a lie that affected his education, family choices, and livelihood; angry that his rightful family inheritance was given to a billion dollar corporation posing as a religion rather than going toward the advancement of a family trying to make a decent life for themselves and their own children.
Pompous asses --- all of them.

Jesus is the answer!
by startingover ini hope it worked.
my intent with the title of this thread was to attract both believers and non-believers.
whenever a thread appears promoting the wonders of jesus, it will inevitably develop into a back and forth discussion ad nauseam.. i was born into a family that believed there was a god, he had a son jesus and his word was the bible.

Im still forming an opinion but I've been doing that for about three decades so what does that make me?
A seeker of Truth. You might be this way till the day you die, and, imo, that's a good thing. When you stop seeking, then you have "died" spiritually. I think we are SUPPOSED to search our entire Life as if we were looking for hidden treasure. Be open, examine everything that resonates with you, and continue the journey. Jesus may hold some answers for you. I don't know and neither does anyone else on this forum no matter how strongly they tout their opinions.
