  i am interested in getting solid and sound refutations from athiests, agnostics, and critically thinking christians on the following.. take a sheet of paper.

  obviously the big question we want answered is what significance does this event have in bible prophecy?.

  we all know 7 symbolizes perfection or "heavenly completeness".

  eulogy of an atheist may be the title of the book i'm writing.

  in it will be my personal prayer lacking notations of god and jesus.

  i wish it could become a well known piece that many may choose to have read when they pass away.. my question to an atheist is this.

  if you already know how to read, do you really study, as the beroeans did, carefully examining the scriptures daily to see if these things are so?

  Paul says that “from infancy” Timothy was taught “the holy writings” by his mother and grandmother. Does this suggest that some kind of brainwashing was involved? No! Timothy was not manipulated or deceived in any way. He was “persuaded to believe” what he heard and read.—2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14, 15.

  Sarah Jayne became persuaded in the same way. Like the first-century Beroeans, she “received the word [from her parents and other teachers] with the greatest eagerness of mind.” As a little child, she no doubt put instinctive trust in what her parents told her. Later, as she grew up, she did not just blindly or passively accept everything she was taught. She ‘carefully examined the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so.’—Acts 17:11.

  I haven't read the rest of this yet because the word persuaded caught my attention in the first paragraphs. The power of suggestion, or hypnosis is also a method used to persuade or brainwash.

  Why are people so afraid to question the authenticity of the Bible...

  for thousands of years people have taken the bible as the word of god.

  what would you do if you found out that it was not.

  how would your outlook on the world change.. .

  Many of them must jump out of the frying pan of being a witless and into the fire of being a christian.

  I couldn't jump into the fire. Years of uneffective brainwashing that told me Jehovah is the one and only true God. I couldn't believe in Jehovah and I felt it was better not to believe in any God. You've tried the rest, now try the best just doesn't work in religion.

  easter bunny rabbit, chocolate candy in all shapes and sizes, jelly beans etc.

  where's the talk about "the resurrection?

  Consumers are just buying chocolate instead of god. God needs to re-market his product and re-define his customer base.

  So true. I found that most people who believe in God, know so little of what is in the bible and the story behind some of the smaller holiday's. Children know much about Thanksgiving here in the state's, a little about Christmas and nothing about Easter and their parent's usually know less.
