    Eulogy of an Atheist may be the title of the book I'm writing. In it will be my personal prayer lacking notations of God and Jesus. I wish it could become a well known piece that many may choose to have read when they pass away.

    My question to an Atheist is this. How do you think it should read in relation to yourself?

    I would find it nice if someday people could say of me: "He stopped waiting on the Divine, who woud not save us in our need, and tried, in his own way, to use his own resources for the benefit of others."

    Or some such thing.

    The Nathan Natas that can be described by words is not the true Nathan Natas.

    "Looked for, he cannot be seen;

    Listened for, he cannot be heard;

    Touched, he cannot be felt."

    Those who speak don't know, and those who know don't speak.

    Problem is, atheism is not a religious ideal, it is simply descriptive of not believing in gods. I suppose the beauty of doing the eulogy for non-theist/non-religious individual is, instead of talking about the individual's religion, you get to talk about the individual.

    A Tribute to Ebon C. Ingersoll by Robert G. Ingersoll

    ...He was a worshiper of liberty, a friend of the oppressed. A thousand times I have heard him quote these words: "For Justice all place a temple, and all season, summer." He believed that happiness is the only good, reason the only torch, justice the only worship, humanity the only religion, and love the only priest. He added to the sum of human joy; and were every one to whom he did some loving service to bring a blossom to his grave, he would sleep tonight beneath a wilderness of flowers. ...
