Would You Trust A JW To Be Honest More Than The Average Person?
by minimus ini know many very honest jws.
if i had someone do work for me, clean my home, etc.----i'd generally be more at ease with a faithful jw over most others.
in the matter of housekeeping, i'd think that they might be nosier but i doubt they'd outrightly steal from me.. what's your thought on this subject?.

Cats and JW's
by kwr ini just came across a web site that purports that cats are demonic supposedly published by the watchtower, but i went to the official jw web site and they have an article about pets and a picture of a cat on a mans lap.
so did the jw's at one time df people for kitties or is this a joke?

Paradise Earth????
by potentialJWconvertswife ini know there has been a previous thread on this topic, but in spite of backing up through many many past topics i couldn't find it...can anyone explain this to me, please?
i mean, obviously the promise is that after being denied entry into heaven because they aren't one of the 144,000 the great crowd is stuck on earth, but it's somehow re-made into paradise?!
is there any scriptural support for this notion outside of the nwt?

There are two "hopes" for Christians (i.e. JWs) : an earthly hope and a heavenly hope. Only the 144,000 desire to go to heaven. The majority of Christians (i.e. JWs) want to live here on a paradise earth. If you are a newly converted JW and want to go to heaven its because of spiritual inmaturity or because you still havent shaken off the false christian belief that heaven is the reward for christians. There are really only a few scriptures in the N.T. that can be twisted to support this view. The N.T. is brimming with scriptures that support the view that the reward for Christians is to go to heaven.

Flimsy Excuses to Miss a Meeting
by WTWizard inwe have seen that they are cracking down on skipping boasting sessions.
i have seen that thread stating the three f's (fever, fracture, funeral) as the only valid excuses for missing one.
and there are reports that the book study hounder will hound people for missing one.

Good topic. Brings back memories of when I would rack my brain trying to think of an excuse that would satisfy the wife and the hounders. Finally it just hit me right dead smack in my face that I did not want to go. And I had the balls to tell the wife the truth, no excuses, just the truth: "It is boring as hell. You're in a bad mood on the way over there, and in a bad mood on the way back. If Jehovah wants to kill me for not going, I'll accept my punishment." It felt SO good to just get that BS chore of my back. FREEDOM! Nothing feels so good after you've been repressed for so long.
Tonight while she's at the meeting, I'll be watching some educational television. (Laugh if you want. I love me some PBS.) I love Tuesday nights.

It's not written by the WTS, but it could have been. This type of writing is how they defend some of their bizarre doctrines. Just goes to show how they can spin almost anything as "having a pagan origin" and "not in harmony with Scriptures."

Jesus was a false prophet....
by dawg ini posted this on another thread, but if you read matthew 24, we see that jesus was indeed a false prophet... he doesn't give the day or hour of the end times but he says that this generation will not pass away until all these things occur... and what generation was he talking about?
he was talking to his diciples and telling them you will see this and that and thus and such....especially take a gander at matt 24: 33-36...jesus thought he was living in the last days and that he would come down from a cloud from the heavens...that stars would fall from the sky, and the like... just read it and tell me what you think.
i wonder if jesus was an essene, they thought they were living in the end of time, in fact they predicted a messiah would come during their days... .

What kind of prophet prophecies the end of the world, but does so in such a way that only a very small percentage of the population understands what he is saying? If Jesus was a true phrophet, speaking about events to take place in our time, why wouldn't he speak in a manner that would be clear to MOST of us? Instead we have to post threads and argue with each about what he possibly meant

Do they still call you "for your time" for this month?
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land inwe got woke up this morning (again) by a call from one of the elders or his ms assistant, looking for "our time report" for this past month.
i've been out for over two years (faded), my wife and the kids haven't attended hardly any meetings since the memorial... talk about clueless.

They did, but then I started turning in 275 hours a month and 600 magazines......then they stopped....oompa
Ooompa that is hilarious! That is exactly what I would have done. Fortunatly, I moved a couple of thousand miles away from my first congration, then switched congregations again, so I was not hounded at all.
