i am reading the bible for the first time.

i was df'd in 1976 and lived my whole life thinking the jws have the truth and i just could not live up to the standard and was doomed to die at the big a without question.

until i found jwd 31 years later.

1- Your references to religious 'leaders' pales in comparison to the Bible., and

2- If you expect anyone to believe Jesus is God because the Jewish Clergy made that mistake - and Christ CORRECTED them (altho they didn't accept the correction), then you need serious help!

" God" is the term everyone of ALL faiths use to describe the Being with Ultimate Power & Authority - which even CHRIST our LORD doesn't have! What he has was GIVEN, not returned. And if the Bible means anything at ALL to you, it settles the matter WITH NO ROOM FOR SENSIBLE ARGUEMENT, when it says at 1 Cor 15:

24-T hen -- the end, when he may deliver up the reign to God, even the Father, when he may have made useless all rule, and all authority and power --

25 f-or it behoveth him to reign till he may have put all the enemies under his feet --

26- the last enemy is done away -- death;

27- for all things He did put under his feet, and, when one may say that all things have been subjected, [it is] evident that He is excepted who did subject the all things to him,

28- and when the all things may be subjected to him, then the Son also himself shall be subject to Him, who did subject to him the all things, that God may be the all in all.

Can you accept this- or are you going to fight to support what your church- or imagination- teaches you???

i simply asked a friend of mine to explain to me deut 20:20-22 and he wrote this:.

Your friend- as I do- focuses on the Good our Brotherhood does (never mentioned much on this board), and overlooking the faults- as he SHOULD! (The exception would be if there were evil; in the case of our understanding prophecy, it's sometimes sheer Stupidity...but NOT evil; most churches have even MORE ridiculous understandings of prophecy- I meet them all the time as I go door-to-door preaching!)

Even tho many on this board have had to suffer terrible (and some NOT so terrible) injustices- people will be people in any faith! Since Christ encouraged Christians NOT be be Lone Wolves- but to work together ("Where two or three are gathered in my name"), we all have to choose who we believe REAL Christians to be- you have, he has, I have! We will have to answer to our Lord if we're wrong- after all, he GAVE us the criteria!

i have been told the faithful and discreet slaves reside in brooklyn ny.

these men believe they are appointed by god to lead the jehovah's witnesses and run a publishing company.. what scriptures do they use to back up this claim?.

he was telling me of how material for the book study group was really decided.

especially those really "deep", "meaty" books like " freedom and life everlasting in the sons of god", "gods kingdom of a thousand years" etc.

i learned yesterday that a local co stated in his talk that comments at the wt study are to be from the page and nothing beyond, per brooklyn.

i wasn't there - this may be merely anecdotal and i cannot verify it at present.

Watchtower increases pace of accelerated change

it's not even april yet, and the watchtower society is revving up it's change at an alarming pace.. this year, the changes have all been big.. first, they announce that there will be two editions of the watchtower - a private edition for members only with only the study articles in and a public edition with no articles.

the 24 elders may be involved in communicating divine truths to the governing body.

the long held teaching that 1935 is the cutoff date for selection and gathering of the anointed has gone the way of the 1914 generation change in a convenient "questions from readers" article.. you cannot wear casual clothes after the convention, even if going out to eat.. .

I wish they'd change the ASSemblies- where most of the 'Speakers' are just parrots reading their little manuscripts! I don't go to them anymore!
