Is the Patterson Elder School Info. Public Knowledge?
by neverendingjourney ini might have had my first post-fade slip up.
due to a temporary job, i've found myself back in my hometown the last few weeks.
i was pumping gas this morning when i was approached by the presiding overseer of my old congregation (technically my current congregation since i never bothered to change my publisher card).

Twilight Zone "On Thursday We Leave For Home" Parallels
by neverendingjourney inim a fan of the original twilight zone television series.
i recently saw an episode entitled on thursday we leave for home, and it dawned on me that it had some interesting parallels regarding why a lot of witnesses never leave the religion even when it starts to become clear that its not the truth.
of course, these shows presented short moral lessons and different people can find different morals in them, but i digress.

Wikipedia article on the GB falsely claims the GB has existed since 1884
by neverendingjourney ini'm currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience.
in it, franz meticulously goes about debunking the notion that the wtbts has always had a governing body.
in fact, through a variety of documents, and using the society's own literature, he shows that the watchtower's board of directors was powerless.

Crisis of Conscience stolen from my local library
by neverendingjourney ini finished reading combating cult mind control a few days ago.
i went to the local library to try to get a copy of crisis of conscience.
i had the librarian search for it, and it's not available in any of the municipal library's branches (i live in a fairly large city).

I finished reading Combatting Cult Mind Control
by neverendingjourney ini just finished reading steve hassans combatting cult mind control.
i found it to be an interesting read.
i have been inactive for 2 12 years now, so its impact was not as big on me as it would have been had i read it shortly after i began to have my doubts about the jws.

Noah, Jerusalem, and Divine Judgment. How would you answer this?
by neverendingjourney injesus compared the last days with the days of noah 1 .
the wtbts says that noah preached for 40 years 2 before the flood came so that he could give his contemporaries a chance to repent and be saved.
when jehovahs time came, he closed the doors of the ark and brought a global deluge that killed everyone but noah and his family.

What happened to the new light on the generation? Has it come out yet?
by neverendingjourney inadmittedly, i spend a lot of time on jwd, but i haven't seen anything recently in regards to the new light on the meaning of the generation in a while.
there were several threads on here not too long ago regarding how this new light had been announced at the society's annual corporate meeting.
someone said that it would be formally unveiled in the new study edition of the watchtower.

How was child molestation handled before 1996?
by neverendingjourney inas i recall, the abhor what is wicked article came out in 1996. in it, the society outlined their new child abuse policy, namely that known child molesters could never hold any positions of responsibility in the congregations anymore.
from what i understand, there were letters to the bodies of elders and special c.o.
instructions that further clarified the new position on handling child sexual molestation.

Logic and the fallacy of 1914
by neverendingjourney inlogic dictates that to prove a conclusion you must break it down into its individual parts and prove each individual element.. for instance, i can prove that 2+2=4.
i can also prove that 4 - 1 = 3 and that 3+10= 13. therefore, i can definitely prove my conclusion that that 2+2-1+10=13.. however, i would be unable to prove that 2+z-1+10=13.
because one of the elements, z-1, is unverifiable.
