Oh the irony - it was changed the year before I got dipped. And what a change! How could we have just stomached that! I can't believe how obvious it is that the Borg puts itself directly in between the person and their relationship to God. That is incredibly offensive and arrogant - I'm just appalled.

by brunnhilde inon another thread someone posted about hearing a different set of baptismal questions than the ones they had at their baptism.
can someone elaborate on this?
i don't remember hearing anything about the questions changing and this really surprised me, though i don't know why!

Very scarry encounter
by ex-nj-jw ini just had an encounter with a man at the bank and i'm still shaking:.
i pull up to the bank to use the atm ( atm in small lobby), i park next to a large truck and next to the truck was another car.
there was 1 man using the atm, and no one in line or outside.

JD, I've read that essay and you're right, it is VERY interesting. People are so unpredictable and we hear so much on the media about people behaving erratically I can't blame ex-nj-jw for being frightened. The other thing about it is most of us don't have those kinds of confrontations very often. Personally I go into fight or flight mode and get really freaked out. I think ex-nj-jw handled it really well.

Life lost
by Phil ini have previously posted on the subject of finding people who could help me get some testimonials from experienced jws who have been shunned by friends and family.
this was my way of getting my daughter to wake up to the realities of what is going on with the organization she is associated with.
much to my sadness, i have been notified by her husband that she died this morning of lung cancer.

The back-room club...
by gymbob ini recently got a e-mail from a 1/2-in-the-truth witness youth who referred to the "back-room" club...anybody ever heard of this before?
is this a new witness youth expression?.
she's 15, and i think she was referring to being asked by the elders to come back in the back room at the hall after the meeting for counsel.

My pioneer partner and I always referred to it as "the glass palace" because you were always being judged if you were in there, whether it was doing those stupid "talks" or because you had done something trivial to set off someone's conscience!

And I believe we have a shining example of the dub mentality. Whiny congregation, whiny pedophile abuse victims, whiny domestic violence victims - why can't they just get their act together!?! Excuse me while I go throw up! Follow the Christ indeed!

Where there is a garage sale sign, so shall there be a Witness...
by pmouse inis that written somewhere in the nwt?
or is it "have a garage sale and they will come" the hollywood horror movie?
i don't recall seeing it, but sure enough, hang a garage sale sign out and you will get them, all dressed up carrying book bags with a casually rolled up watchtower trying to place it to distract you while the other one tries to throw you off by offering 10 cents instead of 25 cents for your junk.

Garage sales were GREAT! Anything to kill time so we didn't have to go humiliate ourselves and disrespect other people's beliefs and way of life! Funny, I haven't been to a garage sale since I stopped d2d, what a coinkydink *snicker*
