by zeroday insay an alien world contacted us and discovered earth was populated with theists and they were shocked and suprised people of another world would believe in a god...would we be suprised shocked or just shaken to our core...could there possibly be a universe with out god...

Another push to make US use %@#* $1.00 coins
by Gregor inthe gov't has been trying to get us to use these clunkers for years.
i think this is the third try in the last 20 yrs.
this time they are so desperate they are putting out ps spots talking about how much this will save the gov't (as we all know the gov't is always looking for ways to save money) and that, of all things, it is a green thing to do.... most men carry their money in their pockets/wallet.

I have tried to be an atheist

i have most of dawkins books and many others.
i completely agree there has to be some evolution and obviously the fossil record in the grand canyon plus erosion shows it must be at least 600 million years old.

by John Doe innow, i haven't been to meetings since i was about 20, but in my congregation the sexes were pretty much evenly split.
however, i've seen the statement several times that there are "not enough brothers to go around," so i can only assume that my congregation was atypical.
so, if there are more women jws, what is the reason for this?.

Are you sure they aren't planning to rip off Islam/ Mormons some and promise extra wives to those men who remained faithful!
They could get into some kind of bidding war with each other and eventually one side will win with "Oh yeah!? Well we'll have super infinity plus one wives!"
Ok, I'll attempt to make a serious contribution.
Women are obvously kept "in subjection" in jw land. Could this be a comment on perhaps a human need to feel secure? If you observe people and their actions for a while, it's almost as if the majority want to be led and told what to do. People will say otherwise, but when it comes down to it, I think a large percentage want to be controlled.
It's always easier to be a follower than a leader, and most people will follow the path of least resistance. I don't think it's so much wanting to be controlled as it is wanting to avoid conflict, and/or responsibility. My guess as to why more women stay than men is that not only are they told to be submissive by the watchtower, but especially in the past society in general taught this too although maybe to a lesser extent, so it's a double whammy.

Who do you think the King of The North is?
by Number1Anarchist inlet me know thru your studies who do you think the king of the north is?.
russia or china i'm guessing but that would be a logical choice.. this is my opinion but i think with the united states getting involved in territories that are under control of russia and china is reaching a boiling point and eventually somone is gonna say i have had it i'm not taking this anymore.. i read this also that in a chinese proverb they have a sayin "kill the chicken to frighten the monkey" the chinese beleive the attack on iraq was the chicken and they are the monkey.. now i'm hearing they are or may blockade iran.
if this happens it could be the final straw but maybe not but i think very soon we will see the knig of the north rise up in defiance to the united states.. let me know what you think please!.

Two powers fighting for dominance, that's never happened before. 10,000 years from now maybe someone will be trying to apply this text to the struggle between two starfaring civilizations because one is spinward of Earth and the other is antispinward.
