I think you could say that "consciousness" is an emergent property of the brain.

Survival of Human Consciousness Beyond Death
by Rapunzel into anyone's knowledge, has there been any scientific research into the question of whether human consciousness can survive beyond death?
i am referring to research studies conducted by neurologists, neuro-biologists, and neuro-physiologists.
as far as i know, reputable scientific studies feature such factors as control groups.

Funny/strange things you ate as a kid.
by IP_SEC inok i'll start.. 13 y/o or so.. once it rained for a month straight.
we had an old dry tank dump in the back that filled up with water.
there were tons of frogs that showed up and started breeding.. i was looking at them on the edge of the water through my .22 scope.

I once picked up pellet of quick-joe deicer thinking it was rock salt. To paraphrase that one kid on the Simpsons it tasted like burning. I didn't eat it once I discovered it wasn't actually rock salt though.
Edit: We used to eat the nectar from those flowers too, they were called honey suckle. Also wild rasberries and blackberries you'd find in the woods, but I really wouldn't call that weird. -

What was your favorite cartoon that you was allowed to watch growin up JW ?
by StoneWall inhands down my all-time favorite was the flintstones.
it's just so hard for me to compare anything else to its humor, cleanliness, appeal to young as well as older ones at the time.. .
no matter how bad a mood i would be in after school i could always count on fred and barney to screw something up to make me feel better lol.

The only cartoons I remember not being allowed to watch were He-Man, and Dungeons&Dragons. Most everything else was ok. I'd have to say Transformers was my favorite.

Yep, I took an opportunity with my job to relocate to Texas. It helped with the external problems, but the internal problems remained. I wonder if I hadn't have moved would I have gone back, or would I have dealt with my... conflict for lack of a better word, sooner. What ifs ara a kinda pointless navel gazing, but with my present state of mind I would've prefered to face the external problems rather than run away from them. Then again, in my previous state of mind who knows what the result would've been had I stayed.

Are Fridges for Christians?
by Satanus indispite their popularity, christians should rethink their stand on fridges.
firstly, they used by jesus and first century christians.
neither did god's chosen people of old use them.

I've always wondered about that mysterious light that comes on whenever I open the door. Now I know it is the work of demons. I shall burn my fridge immediately.

Jesus, black or white????
by avishai inwhy the hell does it matter, and why do people make an issue out of it?

Neither. Jesus was a Grey that founded the Illuminati, and the Free Masons.
