foreign language congregations
by SB ini was thinking this morning, that the biggest step towards me being mentally free from wt doctrine, was joining a foreign language congregation.
i did well w/the language, and even traveled to the country for about a year to pioneer.
but while out of the u.s., i did very little personal study, prayer, or reading of the wt.

In search for truth...thinking freely or free thinking?
by NYCkid inin a reading for one of my college classes, i came across a passage which i immediately thought i'd share with my friends on this board:.
"truth gains more even by the errors of one who, with due study and preparation, thinks for himself, than by the true opinions of those who only hold them because they do not suffer themselves to think...there have been, and may again be, great individual thinkers, in a general atmosphere of mental slavery.
but there never has been, nor ever will be, in that atmosphere, an intellectually active people.".

My letters and responces from and to a JW. (yes, its long)
by Zone ini said when christ came and gave his life for us there was no longer a need for the mosaic law.
i said when christ came and gave his life for us there was no longer a need for the mosaic law.
now, with that said, gentiles (non-jews) were never bound by the mosiac law.

Brothers and sisters, you WILL enjoy the musical interlude prepared for...
by truthseeker in"brothers and sisters, you will enjoy the musical interlude prepared for you by the governing body.".
i've noticed in the last couple of years that they practically advertise their musical interlude before the start of the morning session.. it feels like 1984.. has anyone else noticed this?.

Devilution!
by Chameleon inas you know, this month is "evolution is evil" month.. i wasn't paying too much attention at this week's meeting, but i'll share what i did manage to hear.. this was a #3 assignment, and one lady was "concerned mom," and the other was "worldly teacher.".
basically, concerned mom (or cm) went to worldly teacher (wt) to tell her that she doesn't want her son in the class for the next couple of weeks.
because she'll be teaching evolution.. wt says, "i believe that all the evidence shows that we evolved and blah blah blah" and cm says "well, let me show you this bs from the bible.

Assembly-first day
by Chameleon inanyone else go today (long beach, ca)?.
goddamn, mind-numbing is an understatement.. anyway, it was really weird hearing all the drones talk about jesus so much, but of course, at the end of the day, their hidden agenda wasn't so hidden anymore.
follow jesus=follow a group of geezers in new york that leech off you.

Dr.Jeckyl and Mr.Hyde.
by scout575 in"when elisha arrived, he went alone into the room and saw the boy lying dead on the bed.
he closed the door and prayed to the lord.
then he lay down on the boy, placing his mouth, eyes, and hands on the boy's mouth, eyes, and hands.

Blessing and reassurance - sort of ..........
by TheOldHippie insome ten years ago, i was on a business trip in germany and visited a congregation in frankfurt a.m. a very lively one, comments from the audience, small bags with candy being passed along, very friendly people, just the way you would like a congregation to be.
people massed up to greet me after the meeting; then sort of "floating" towards me, the other ones giving room for her, comes a very small, fagile, old woman, and she had this sort of radiance around her, shining - and i am not joking, neither was i stoned, i was just experiencing depressions and generally a hard and tough period of my life - anyway, she comes up to me, quietly bends my head down towards her, kisses my forehead and says, "my son", looks at me with her shining eyes - and disappears in the crowd.
"she is one of the remnant", says the one next in line to greet me.. i felt blessed somehow, as if she had "read me" and then told me that "it's all going to be ok, you are ok, just stick to the course and abide in jesus, and things will turn out just fine".
