Double Edged, what difference do you think it makes in a person's life whether one believes in God or not?

Losing my Religion......
by flower inwell at 29 years old, after a lifelong relationship/belief in/association with a higher power i called god, here i am very close to taking an athiestic or agnostic approach to the rest of my life.
it really hit me the other day although my doubts have been there but i just have been forcing myself to ignore them because i was afraid to give up that religious part of me because its all that i have ever been and i was afraid of the unknown.
but i realized after getting through another one of those weeks from hell that it makes no difference how much i pray or how much i believe.

How often did you comment at meetings?
by LDH ini have a theory and i'd like to put it to the test here.. i would be willing to bet that the posters who post a great deal probably commented more than the average publisher at the meetings.. i know it's true in my case.. on simon's forum we have the whole range of 'publishers-' from those that comment a lot ---down to those that are just there.
the lurkers.. what about you?.

hello
by maxwell ini'm a jehovah's witness who's doubts about god have been kinda forced to front by some adulterous acts on my part.
i don't really feel the the jw's are dangerous presently, at least not any more than any other religion.
i do feel the urge to free myself from it and my marriage within the week.

Maxwell, are you kidding? I just read your bio and its very interesting indeed. I would just like to say that I think it is brave of you to go and confess your sins to the elders so that your present wife will be free to marry. It is the right thing to do. After all, she should not be punished just because of something you did. Anyway, welcome to the forum and I look forward to hearing more from you soon.

USA Case Law & Shunning - Good and Bad
by Amazing inthe following is an article i found in my files this morning while i was looking for something else.
it is short and pointed:.
court backs shunning by religious group.

Happy Man, I am sure that Amazing can speak for himself, but just because he is flying an American flag should not lead one to the conclusion that he condones war and the bombing of innocent people. That's is something that is reserved for all JW's who long to see people die horrible deaths at Armegeddon.

GOVERNING BODY'S PLAN TO GROW YOUNGER
by Dutchie insince the sect's leadership had painted itself into a corner a change had to come about.
governing body members were required to be of the "anointed" class, composed of men who became witnesses as adults before the year 1935. this excludes younger men, and limits the governing body to an older group each year.
few men in their 80s or 90s are up to running a corporation.. during the mid-1990s the witnesses attempted to sidestep the problem by beginning to appoint a few younger men who had earlier declared themselves to be of the anointed.

Since the sect's leadership had painted itself into a corner a change had to come about. Governing Body members were required to be of the "Anointed" class, composed of men who became Witnesses as adults before the year 1935. This excludes younger men, and limits the Governing Body to an older group each year. Few men in their 80s or 90s are up to running a corporation.
During the mid-1990s the Witnesses attempted to sidestep the problem by beginning to appoint a few younger men who had earlier declared themselves to be of the Anointed. It was explained that these men, although baptized after 1935, were exceptions that God had allegedly chosen after 1935 to replace members of the Anointed who became unfaithful and lost their salvation. But with five out of the thirteen Governing Body members now among these exceptions, adding a couple more would put the exceptions in the majority. With more following the exception than the rule, the ruling doctrine would have been called into question.
Rather than change the doctrine, the Witnesses have restructured the organization. Since the Governing Body is no longer connected to the corporate Board of Directors, the Watchtower corporations can be run by a new generation of younger men.
Then, presto, the Governing Body's plan to grow younger is put into place!

Doomed to be Sad!
by Sirona infirstly, before i say why i'm doomed to be sad, i'd like to give you the good news : i've got the all clear which means that my malignant melanoma skin cancer is all gone!
the surgery worked, so i dont need any more treatment!
so why am i doomed to be sad?
-
Dutchie
Hi Sirona, Ditto to what Lauralisa said. In fact, when I stopped going to meetings anything bad that happened to me was caused by Demons. The demons really get you when you stop attending meetings, according to some members of my family. So, if you get sick, miss your bus, lose your job, etc., its all caused by demons.
I am glad to know that you are feeling better. Good luck to you.

Excellent letter. How does it feel to be finally free?
IMHO, Apostates are not interested in dragging people down. On the contrary, we want to shake people out of their WT stupor and get them to realize just what they are pledging their lifetime allegiance to.
