  i love this forum.

  at the moment, there are lots of people saying bad things about it.

  Yeah, I have to thank Simon for this board.

  I came across this baord purely by accident...I was do an internet search on "Prince" the singer, and found myself at another (ex-?)JW site which had a link to here....but I can't remember the site's address.

  Well, anyway, it was great to see other posters sharing the same frustrations, feelings, and questions that I have had at one time or another.

  True, I tend to this board to slack off and kill time, but it has been fun talking to other exJWs...not to mention after the boobie thread, I took the initative and created a spin-off board for the dirty-minded...not that I'm dirty minded...ok, just a little...but it did relieve Simon from the burden of locking threads and deleting accounts.

  The "mini-god" Elder syndrome...

  professor: since you stated in another thread that your dad sees himself as a "mini-god", it got me wondering.

  does jehovah, if he actually exists, views the gb/the elders and other religious leaders along with jesus as "mini-me"s, as in the "austin powers" characters?.

  Bang: Very perceptive of you...what gave it away?

  Actually, I was never baptized...thank god! (I'm being very ironic here)...but I was raised "in the troof" from the ages of 4 until 18...but I finally cut all ties with my JW past when i was 19 and left my family's house and went off to Job Corps in freakin' Utah...the first of my two "favorite mistakes".

  what is it with hardcore jw's who think that everytime an elder speaks everyone should drop what they're doing and listen?.

  i was over a relative's house the other day when two elders came by for a shepherding call.

  they wound up talking to the wife because the husband, who fell away after the 1975 fiasco, was hiding out in the back of the house.

  Naebs: WW didn't get me...at least not yet, anyways.

  D8TA: I don't think you really needed to apologize, there are those who say worse things and no asks them for an apology. However, I think it does make you better than the assorted crackpots out there.

  Her Ladyship's Embarrassing Moment Yesterday

  yesterday, was, for my youngest son, the day that he re-commenced his fitness training in preparation for the start of the football season.

  however, his car is laid up, the engine having objected to the extremes that had been demanded of it since number 3 son took over it's reins.. so ben pleaded with hl to be taken to winscombe, a distance of around 10 miles.

  on the way there, the cunning little menace mournfully mentioned that he would not be able to get back home, please, mum, pretty please, will you drive back out and pick me up?.

  It's freaking weird about pj's...here in china, I can see plenty of women go out shopping, even in western-style supermarkets, wearing their flannel/cotton pyjamas....it took me awhile to get used to seeing that.

  i have really enjoyed getting to know so many of you.

  don't consider this a permanent goodbye, as i'll most likely stop back every now and again to see how you are faring.

  and to keep you updated with me and the family deal.. the reality is, this board was great for me while i was pregnant, i was so sick.

  Volunteer Work is Never Encouraged

  i always find it so annoying whenever there's a wt study on the good samaritan.

  no one at the hall ever suggests that the idea behind it, is that we should be helping our "enemies" in a charitable way, such as feeding them, clothing them, helping them out in a physcial way.....nope they always turn it around to where it only means we should be preaching to our enemies, cause lord only knows, actually helping someone out in a charitable way means less than nothing in the organization.. anyhoo, the last time we had an article on that (couple of years ago), i specifically put up my hand and said "this is not talking about preaching to our enemies.

  the samaritan did not preach to the jew nor vise versa.
