  during the wt session, the org admits that the actions of eldubs can cause an eventual shortage of "qualified " brothers, and it has.

  they speak of a lack of teaching as the cause.

  in reality, it's the legalism and control issues within the org itself that have caused a shortage of men who are willing to reach out.

  Do we have a "spiritual need"?

  so this is only my second post but its about something that has been on my mind for awhile now.

  have any of you ever felt the need to pray or speak to a higher power?

  do any of you beleive that we were created or have evolved with a "spiritual need"?

  Man came about as a result of an accident and exists in an insignificant part of the universe in an insignificant galaxy in an insignificant solar system on a planet that, by chance, just happens to be at about the right distance from the Sun to sustain life.

  The Universe that we inhabit, although inevitable, was a happy accident too.

  The Drake equation tells us that there is, in all probability, intelligent life in other parts of the universe. There is, in all probability, nothing special or unique about Man. However, due to the vastness of time and space and the limitation of speed, it is highly unlikely that we will ever have any contact with any other intelligence. Therefore, for all intents and purposes, we are alone.

  There is nothing in the universe which even hints at a higher force, intelligence or purpose. In fact, the evidence points towards the opposite since it is in a constant state of flux (eg. Super novae, black holes etc). The whole idea is preposterous and even laughable.

  In short, we are, effectively, alone and with no global purpose. It is therefore up to each and every one of us to find our own purpose in life because when you are dead, you are dead. So, my friends, enjoy it whilst you can for this is what there is and all there is.

  i don't have a great reference point on my observation other than my local area but i was wondering if this was a widespread thing.

  ... in the last two years in my former congregation there have been 6 people to disassociate for "apostasy," 6 disfellowshipped for various reasons, and numerous ones reproved.

  these are just the ones i have heard about.

  the latest pew study shows continued decline in church memberships, including catholics, protestants and even evangelical protestants.

  the overall "christian population" feel from 78.4% to 70%, from to 2007 to 2014. according to a short christian post article on the pew findings, "the only christian groups to register minimal growth at 0.1 percent were jehovah's witness, at 0.8 percent of the population, and those in the "other christian" category, at 0.4 percent.

  " i wonder if the increase for the jws is higher, since the number of jw participants in the pew study was very small compared to their population in the us.

  If jovies are mind-controlled to the point where they are afraid to leave and they are having children, it doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes to figure out that their numbers will increase, particularly as people are living longer. jovie world must be pleased that their business model is working.

  being in a good mood that particular day, i told them that if they could prove that god existed, i'd become a jovie - and i meant every word.. they gave me two documents which they asked me read and told me that they'd be back in a week.

  The fact is, god doesn't exist. However, we do. Therefore, whatever the mechanism is that created life, it must have a statistical probability of creating life which is considerably greater than 10 ^ 113, otherwise, we wouldn't be here, would we?

  A little perspective on “the number 10^113 is larger than the estimated total number of all the atoms in the visible universe.” 10^113 is, actually, representative of the estimated number of all the atoms in 10000000000000000000000000000000000 typical universes— give or take.

  I am not a religtard. Please do not treat me as such. I don't have one degree, I have several - and all in science. I am well aware of the meaning of 10 ^ 13.

  I didn't assume you had a mechanism - I asked you what yours was.

  king solomon asked that jehovah hear only foreigners who prayed toward gods temple in jerusalem.
