My brother is dating a girl who is in that faith. She goes to pow-wows and it she is very into the culture. I think you are right that it has more to do with culture and rituals than religion. I can ask her where to look for info if you want. I would like to research it myself. PM me and I will talk to my brother about it next time we talk and I will pass along what he tells me.

Anyone here have experience in Native American culture/worship?
by Angry_Kangaroo insince leaving behind jw beliefs, i have been interested in learning other belief systems.
i am really interested in native american beliefs as i have native blood in my background, and i feel more at peace and closer to god when i am in nature.
from what i have read, it is not a set religion with rules and such, but more a cultural/community based faith.

Not been here for a while
by fullofdoubtnow inthis is the first time i've been on here in about a month, though trev has been posting some days, so i've been able to keep up with everyone's news.
thankyou all so much for the well wishes you keep sending me, they all mean so much.
apart from my other problems, i've had a really painful back injury for the last few weeks, which has made it impossible for me to sit comfortably at the pc.

Sweet strawberries?
by greendawn inthis may not be the case in the usa, australia etc but whenever i buy strawberries they are disappointing in that they are not sweet at all and only the addition of sugar makes them reasonably good.
only once i had strawberries that were sweet as they should be, i believe they were from scotland, otherwise they are just colour they look good to the eye but they are not tasty (aren't they like the watchtower society?
does anyone know of specific sweet varieties that can be grown at home?

I have a strawberry Pie recipe that makes even not very sweet berries taste good...and it is easy.
Take a ready to bake pie crust, bake it and let cool.
In a sauce pan mix 1 cup water 3/4 cups sugar 1/2 small box strawberry jello 2 heaping TBS cornstarch (I mix the cornstach with some of the water to disolve first)
Heat on med-high till thickens a bit....then let cool completely (I put the pan in a sink of ice) and add to 1 lb cut up berries. Pour into pie shell and chill 2 hours....top with cool whip.
It is so refreshing!

Happy momma's day! I am so glad to be where I am on this mother's day...confident in raising my 1 yr old out of the cult that used to control me. Thankfull that I can help my almmost 9 yr old to see the real truth in time. Thanks to this board I am a good mom. (As for my JW mom.....well, she doesn't deserve any recognition from me at all)

You know how we say things like....If I could just help ONE person out of the Borg....and make a difference in just ONE person's life, it would feel so good.?? Well.....being on this board helps so many on a daily basis, and much of the time we don't even know how much good we have done. You are one of the people on here I feel like I could count on, because how caring and generous you are. I wish you all the good, and I hope some good life distractions come your way so you get too busy to worry about the Watchtower Crap.

The Trinity ( arguement to end all arguments I hope )

but why do christians insist on holding such an unholdable position with the trinity.. the bible i agree holds proof for both trinity and nontrinity positions.. i still don't get why that christians other than catholics would hold such an untenable position as god came down to earth but didn't, and he prayed ( talked ) to himself a lot.. .
i remember a comedy sketch were some kids were stumping a nun in catholic school with question on the trinity and the eurachrist..

I do believe in the trinity....but, not as a 3 headed God....but as a divine being "playing" different roles for the humans he created. If there is only One true God and Jesus was also called god, does this mean Jesus was a false god? I will never argue the trinity with anyone...it is not for me to prove...however I do know in my own experience....once I did a lot of Bible reseach and study, it hit me in a moment that I DO believe it....and I have been content with it in my heart ever since. It made me feel like more of the Bible made sense to me and I felt very close to God at that moment.
