I finally did it
by doublelife ini told my mom that i'm not going back to the meetings.
i wasn't planning on telling her that but i've been going through some hard times with my husband and just got fed up with her hounding me.
so she asked if i'll still consider going back to the meetings and i just flat out told her no and that it wasn't up for discussion.

Who owns the Kingdom Halls?
by dissed ini only ask this because when in, our kh was on leased tribal land and the local jw's could never really get title.
in fact it was difficult to secure a loan from the wts, so we got one privately because of that.
they didn't like the part in the tribes contract that said they could take the building if we didn't fullfill our charter with them and it had to be listed with some local native americans of that tribe and not the elders.

If the directors of a nonprofit corporation decide to dissolve it, they must pay off all debts and obligations of the nonprofit and distribute all of its assets to another tax-exempt nonprofit corporation.
This is very interesting to know, regardless. Thank you, Blondie.

Exactly, No Apologies. Yes, I did see that. And I said that ultimately, the Watchtower owns it, which is true.
If an entire congregation were to awaken (aka "turn apostate") do you think they could hang onto the building, after paying for it twice and building it with their own hands? Not without one heck of a legal battle, and I don't think they'd win.

This astounds me.
- The rank and file donate money to the Watchtower Organization.
- They decide to build a Kingdom Hall, and ask the Watchtower Organization for a loan to build this Kingdom Hall.
- The Watchtower Organization loans them back the money they have donated, plus interest until they can "donate" it back.
- The rank and file build the Kingdom Hall with their labor and expertise, using monies that should still be rightfully theirs, but ultimately...
- The Watchtower Corporation owns the Kingdom Hall, not the ones who built and paid for it.
So... the congregation pays for the Kingdom Hall twice (with interest) and builds it with their own hands, yet do not actually own it.

I have to give GREAT THANKS!
by its_me! ini wanted all of you to know how much you have helped me in the few short weeks that i have been here.. i was starting to sink into a very deep and dangerous depression, wrestling with the lies that i have been taught all of my life, and feeling like i was evil because i did not want to follow anymore.
fearing that i was deeply offending god and hurting him.. since being on this site, the weight is starting to be lifted.
the thick veil of fog is slowly starting to clear, and i feel like i can live!

It's Me! said:
...that is music to my ears, and that is saying a lot, because I really love music!
And the fact that you are doing so great (and coming so far in such a short time) is music to OUR ears. Dissed is right, it really DOES get better and easier. You have that to look forward to...
Love,

Missionary activities of INGOs rife REKHA KUSUM REGMI/RSS
KATHMANDU, April 4 : Many International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) working in Nepal for development and capacity building are involved in missionary activities, officials at Social Welfare Council (SWC) say.
They say the SWC has been informed that the INGOs have been involved in conversion of religion of people by promising jobs, conducting religious prayers during office time and expansion of their religion through different training but no formal complaint has been lodged in the council.
There are 223 INGOs registered to work in Nepal, 46 of which are inactive.
The missionary activities of the INGOs have increased since Nepal was declared a secular state in 2006. An official said some Christian missionary organizations used to conduct their covert activities, by avoiding the eyes of the authorities in the past.
Arjun Bhattarai, a central member of the NGO Federation of Nepal, accepted that some INGOs are involved in Christian missionary activities to some extent due to the lack of categorization of such INGOs under the Organization Registration Act, 2034 BS.
The Interim Constitution of Nepal says nobody can convert someone“s religion and nobody can conduct any activity that can affect other“s religion even though the constitution grants right to every individual to follow, practice and protect his/her religion without affecting the existing social and cultural harmony.
SWC officials said they have been informally informed that some INGOs announce vacancies open for all but hire only those who have faith in or who promise to convert to the religion with which the INGOs concerned are involved.
"In informal talks, people tell us that many INGOs have been involved in missionary activities and they give preference to religion while selecting workforce in their organizations. But nobody has lodged a formal complaint against any INGO," said Ratna Bahadur Gaha Magar, the SWC treasurer.
He said the SWC denied registration of an INGO called Watch Tower Bible and Track Society, which wanted to conduct religious activities. He said the council does not grant permission to any organization to work in Nepal if the objective of the organization is to expand religion.
No INGO can work in Nepal without securing affiliation with the council.
The NGO Federation also does not give affiliation to any I/NGO which has religion expansion as its objective. Bhattarai, however, said such organizations have been registered in the District Administration Offices (DAOs) as there is no provision of categorization of organizations at the time of their registration in the DAOs.
Amar Pokharel of Tahachal said he was denied job by an INGO for refusing to change religion. "I had applied for a job in an NGO. I had mentioned my religion as Hindu. They called me for an interview and told me that they can give me the job only if I agreed to convert my religion. I refused and I did not get the job as well," he said.
SWC treasurer Gaha Magar said around Rs 17 billion is brought in the country through INGOs. The council has a separate department to monitor the activities of the INGOs. But the council is toothless with regard to taking action against any organization involved in illegal activities or conducting activities beyond their declared objectives.
While granting affiliation to INGOs, the council demands registration paper in the country of origin, the constitution of the organization, guarantee of grant amount of a minimum of $100,000, concept paper, project proposal, agreement to work, cover letter and dependable source of funding.
No matter how many requirements the INGOs have to meet before getting permission to work in Nepal, covert missionary activities of some INGOs have not been controlled.
In democracy and secularism, it is the right of an individual to choose a religion of his choice. But it is a crime and inhumane activity to force, press or allure people to change their religion.
There needs a strong monitoring from the government against forceful conversion of religion and punishment for those found guilty.Published on 2010-04-04 16:27:18 -

The cup bearer was released at Pharaoh's birthday. By that incident Joseph could be freed and next; millions of people included the Israelite were saved from famine. One man was killed, but millions were saved.
There is only one Lord's evening meal mentioned in the Bible and that same evening, Judas betrayed our very own Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver. The same logic follows that Jesus changed his mind afterwards and no longer wants us to celebrate the Lords Evening Meal!
These are great thoughts, bookmarking, thank you.
RubaDub... that's pretty funny about the "poop" incidents. If you get that info together, post it here, please.

Wow, wow... WOW!! What a marvelous human being he is!
I am impressed with the entire letter... line after line, but this did stand out:
"I make my own decisions based on what I have experienced, you do as you are told without questioning. Who is the puppet ??"
Then he ends in complete love and an open invitation to join him in his life. Perfectly done. Bravo and then some, "Flipper Junior"!
