I am so sorry for your loss
I don't know you personally FHN, but I've read so many of your posts here and you seem to be such a sweet, strong, kind, lovely woman. I hope you won't mind some well wishes from a stranger.
I have enjoyed seeing the pictures you've posted of your dad, that's an honor to him and a collage of his life that seems to be good for you too, to examine and share. There's a sweetness and a tenderness to many of the pictures you've chosen, and your descriptions of them. You've alluded to harsh problems and pain as well, but it seems you're engaging in some fond reflections and I'm glad you have that.
As for the need to cry, that is a very real need and I encourage you to do it, for as long and as hard as you need. Shedding tears is cathartic in so many ways, and holding them in can harm you. I hope you will find a way that works for you to cry and to mourn, for all of the loss tied up in this.
Sending you wishes for strength, peace, and healing

So, someone clue me in.
by Blasty inalright, so i'm reading on this site, and i'm not 100% sure what it's about.
it appears to be a bunch of former jw people bashing everything they can get their hands on in relation to jw's.. .
i was brought up as a jw, but when i got older and started to think for myself, i began to realize that i didn't agree with their teachings.

Hi Blasty and welcome :-)
Until one day I started to study physics, and well the laws of physics convinced me to believe in God. How many people could do a math equation and find God in it? Probably not many haha.
I like you already LOL. I am one who doesn't fit comfortably into organized religion, and I don't want to. But I do see "God" in math and physics and biology, in nature and the world at large.
Nice to have you here, welcome -

Wow, that is really stupid. And why restrict it based on age? I didn't realize most mad bombers running around the US were children.
Maybe the manager just didn't know how to override the register thing and was trying to look smart (mission not accomplished LOL). -

SCANNED ARTICLE ON BLOOD FRACTIONS 'WORKBOOK'
by Mary ini'm not sure if this has ever been posted, but here's the uh "workbook" that all jws are given regarding blood fractions.
of course, the hypocrisy shines through as when it asks "are fractions also covered by the command to abstain from blood?
we cannot say" and "your decisions should be your own and should not be based on someone else's conscience.

I need some input (Migraines)
by Tired of the Hypocrisy indoes anyone know of any documented proof that long hair causes migraine headaches?.
the reason i ask is because my 16 year old son has this head full of curls.
he also has what we believe to be bad migraines.
-
nameless_one
He told my wife that between our skull and our scalp we have nerves, and long hair traps heat and burns the nerves, thus causing the onset of a migraine.
I'm no doctor, but this sounds absurd to me. Rather than trying to disprove this wacky theory, I would instead ask him to PROVE it. Can he provide one shred of credible documentation to back this up? I seriously doubt it. Or you could run the "theory" by your son's doctor and ask him to share his professional opinion on the matter. Surely your wife would give more credence to an informed medical opinion than to some crackpot third-hand rumor.
Sorry to hear about your son's headaches. -

i left the org 10 years ago and never looked back....or so i thought.

good idea?

You will never overcome your Witness past...
by JimmyPage in... unless you read apostate views.. you may become inactive, like i did, and find a way to assimilate yourself into the normal world.. but you will always have at your core a view of the world that the witnesses gave you.
their basic teachings will still be your world view.. you will never realize you were indoctrinated by a cult.. for those poisoned by jehovah's witnesses there is only one antidote.. there is only one way to understand your life and progress from there.. the only true cure for jehovah's witnesses is apostasy..

I fully agree. In JW-land the term "apostasy" encompasses so very much, so I'm not sure that's the way I would have worded it exactly, but I think the idea behind what you're saying is dead on.
In dealing with my own JW, and his journey away from the WTS, it has become crystal clear to me that one can live under the illusion of wandering far and wide but still be strangling on a very tight leash. Over time I have become absolutely convinced that the only way to become truly free is to pull back the curtain, shine a bright light, and examine what's there, painful as it is. Until one actually SEES with his own eyes the little man behind the big curtain, and the mundane mechanics of the magical machines, the spell won't truly be broken.
Good post JimmyPage, thanks.
