this site really was a tool to help me comin to terms with myself as an individual, but at the same time there were many people who were angry with the wbts which in turn made myself angry with certain elements of the organisation and the way i was brought up.. i have not gone back to any meetings since i last visited although just lately i have considered the spiritual aspect to life and have been waying up the pros and cons of attending a meeting.

Checked up that book on net purps thanks. Read a few books over the years with similar content and tend to lean towards that way of thinking. Really do believe we have to make the most of the time we have.
Correct me if i'm wrong but looks as though the book is loosely based on buddhist philosophy?

Thanks changeling and mouthy. Dont get me wrong mouthy i dont know whether i will attend a meeting or not. But i do feel God is there, whether that is Jehovah, Allah or any of the others out there. I have even thought about attending a pentecostal meeting at a local church.
Just thoughts about the spiritual aspects at the moment.

many people i have spoke to on this site have found that becoming part of a christian group since leaving the witnesses has been of benefit to them.

personally, i could care less about god and/or jesus, have no use for either of them, very disappointed in how they run things.
and when i die, i hope i get the chance to tell him/them that.. there was a great song in the late 80's early 90's by depeche mode called blasphemous rumours(spelling ?

Your question suggests that you have to believe in one or another.
May be there is a god may be there isn't. But i certainly believe there was a man called Jesus who made a great impact about 2000 years ago. History would suggest this.
Was he the son of God? I doubt it, but who am i to say.

over the last week many things have come to light about violence directed toward my children my their mother and stepfather.. for many years i have been concerned and have attempted to rectify the problem by approaching my x herself.
she always denies it.. this weekend my youngest son, aged 7, told me that his mom had tried to choke him, yelling, 'i'm going to fucking murder you'.
his stepfather pulled her off him.

This weekend my youngest son, aged 7, told me that his mom had tried to choke him, yelling, 'i'm going to fucking murder you'. His stepfather pulled her off him. Although previously he had thrown him up the stairs, banged his head against the wall and told him 'i fucking hate you'. They are on the verge of divorce and blaming the children for it.
I have reported the incident to social services and was told not to return my children until an investigation had taken place.
To cut a long story short, they were interviewed by police yesterday, the mom and stepfather have denied it, although admit they lost their temper. There were no marks. Two of my children told the police she had her hands around his throat, the mom has said she had her hands on his shoulders.
Social Services have decided to return the children to the mom, due to the fact i only have a two bedroomed house. The children were staying at my moms over this period, which they have said is unsuitable because i don't stay there.
I feel as though i have been blamed for causing undue stress to the children, my mom is seen as an interfering grandmother. They see this incident as a one off, because i have never reported previous incidents.
The mom yesterday refuses to now let me have them over the weekend, because social services have told her i do not have the room to keep them overnight. But only allowing access Saturday's 10-5. It would appear that social services have agreed with her.
I wondered if anyone knows how the social service system (uk) works to allow this to happen. I have searched the net and cannot really find anything.
