  in april 2007, the man, identified only as djw due to a publication ban, gave his son, dj, honey wine before placing him on garbage bags on the kitchen floor.

  djw then cut away the boy's foreskin with a razor blade.. .

  Honestly, I don't know how the man attempted to perform the operation on his child. However, I imagine most North Americans fail to understand that the procedure commanded by god to Abraham was much simpler than the practice as it is known today.

  Adults can modify their bodies as they wish. If a man wants to circumcise himself, then that is his business.

  Genital modification on girls is against the law. Hopefully, someday boys and intersex children will enjoy the same equality of protection under law. Well, technically they already do except for cultural inertia favoring RIC, gender assignment bias, and general public apathy on the issue.

  I'm going poo-less

  no, this is not my annual march colon cancer awareness thread!*.

  a certain poo-less poster here has inspired me to stop using shampoo.. according to various hippie types, shampoo forces your scalp to produce extra oils and it takes a while to adjust.

  sudsing detergents are bad for the environment too.. plus they have carcinogens and flying spaghetti monster knows i don't need any more of those.. so....have you gone poo-less?.

  I tried this before when I had long hair. Longer hair does help absorb more of the scalp oils. Nevertheless, I finally decided to wash at least twice a week, since I lived in a hot and humid climate at the time. I've since cut my hair and gone back to regular shampooing. I find that I need to use an anti dandruff shampoo, and the Wal Mart brand only costs a couple of bucks. I think diet and age have more of an influence on hair health. Since I am mostly vegetarian (mostly whole plant foods, limited refined foods, and very little meat, milk, or eggs), my scalp and hair are in pretty good shape.

  If you knew someone was going to be murdered, raped, or assaulted, and you chose not to do anything about it, just to prove some obscure moral point to your own satisfaction, would you not share a degree of blame for not taking action to prevent it, assuming it was in your power to do so?

  Based on this assumption, God is:

  1. not all knowing

  2. not moral, loving, just, or kind as he is often portrayed

  3. not all powerful

  4. not paying attention

  5. not the anthropomorphic deity found in human writings

  6. not a real entity at all

  The Cult of "El", paganism in bible? Saturn=Satan?

  if any of you have researched this at all would appreciate your findings and conclusions.

  do not want to stumble anyone, so just be warned this could do that if you believe at the very least the english translations of the bible are pure.

  If you are serious about doing Biblical research, you may do better by reading Leolaia's posts to this forum for a start. She gets her information from scholarly sources, and many times she has posted what these sources are. Otherwise, you will be no better off than those who took Russell's numerology and pyramidology as fact. Just because something published on the web or in print seems plausible, that does not make it true. The Watchtower, past and present, illustrates that fact well.

  Under "El" specifically, that "El" the name of God, and many words associated with "El" related to that as well. An ancient "cult of El". ELoihim, apostLE, discipLE, ELder, ELect.

  Languages don't work that way. Elohim is the plural form of El in Hebrew. There are no English words that are derived from El in this manner with the exception of proper names: Ezekiel, Daniel, Samuel, Eli, etc.

  LOL! This thread brings back some memories! I remember the first floor stip and wax job I did when I was 14. The other guys (older teens) all got together and soaked me as an initiation. Fun times back then working late and listening to Journey, Foreigner, etc. In the late 90s I did floor maintenance work again at banks and a large grocery store. The banks were no problem, but the grocery store was open 24 hours, so I had my share of customers walking on wet wax. All in all, though, pushing a propane buffer up and down the aisles is a good way to get exercise and be paid for it too.

  JW mom has limited contact with me these days

  my mom has been a jw since 1970. my dad, who died in 1994, became a dub in 1971. i have told parts of that story elsewhere on the board.. my mom remarried a couple of years later to a non-jw.

  my stepfather and i get along very well, despite his background (cussin', former hell's angel, former navy seal, smoker)...generally quite rough..but underneath a decent guy.. i just called down to my mom's today...about 11am... stepdad answers.... where is my mom?

  he says: "out doing her thing..." i say: "oh, you mean door knocking?

  I feel for you, Rich. Both my parents are retired now. Being Witnesses is literally their whole life now. Both pioneer, and my Dad's an elder, which is his new full time "job." At least we're on relatively good terms despite my current inactivity, but that is only because I'm not doing anything to offend their moral principles.

  ok so i'm really trying to figure out what i believe about the bible, god, religion, etc... where do you research or find something to study that isn't tainted with someone else's beliefs or opinions?

  this might be a dumb question, but i seriously don't even know where to start.. .

  There is no unbiased research. But I have enjoyed reading Is It God's Word? by Joseph Wheless. You can read it for free at the link.

  I also recommend Biblical Nonsense by Jason Long. Read it for free at the link.
