Well I can tell you who re-started the heart of someone dear to me but I don't suppose you are looking for a MD recommendation.

A question out of curiosity...
by JBean inare jw's the only ones that "label" individual's apostate?
i'm asking because it seems that i've never heard anyone of any other faith make comments about apostates.
just curious...

Mormons also use the term apostate. Additionally, they also shun former members ("apostates')

"all they did--as far as the current evidence I'm aware of shows--is USE the UN to defeat it."
And defeat it they did! Could we not hear the mournful cry of "uncle!" coming from the Scarlet-coloured beast? How pathetic watching the disgusting thing beg for mercy from the ever powerful watchtower!
It's not as if the Watchtower got caught with it's pants down and ran sissy-style into hiding. No, in a strange, calculated attack the Watchtower decisively defeated the beast leaving only a few hapless churchgoers to stand as the most hated thing on the planet.
Uh, yeah, that's what happened. No offense, Alward, but the sorry little loophole you've tried to offer the Tower is a piss-poor excuse. Ignorance of the law...blah blah blah. You've not yet explained how it is that they condemn all other churches for the exact same thing they did. They seemed to recognize just how wrong it was for other groups to affiliate in such a manner. Now they have selective amnesia?
Let's see: they met applied for and accepted affiliated status. Expectations were clearly outlined in a number of places. They didn't read the criteria? So we should assume what? That they are illiterate or just plain stupid? And when they met the criteria by writing articles that supported the UN, they weren't actually supporting the UN?
I see, it's all part of their diabolical plan to off the beast. Very tricky! Sadly, not a particularly good plan as the UN seems to still be actively functioning or maybe you hadn't noticed? Maybe they just aren't very good warriors in Jah's army?
You should consider trying to sell them your excuse. It might be the best one yet. It certainly beats the library card fiasco! It doesn't hold any water, mind you, but the JWs love a good technicality even when it defies logic. Good work. Would you care to write off the blood issue and that nasty pedophilia issue while you're at it? -

Borg Hypnosis?
by moman ini'm sure most of those on this illusterous board have read articles on brainwashing by the borg.
i think they are pros at subliminal suggestion & hypnosis.. consider the following on hypnosis: an altered state of consciousness brought about through an operator (borg), the hypnotist, who engages the attention of a subject (sheep) and assigns certain tasks (service etc.
) while uttering momotonous, repetitive verbal commands (meetings & talks).

One of the few quasi-negative things my JW friend said about the organization: "lots of repetition".
He loves his mother organization and would not speak even somewhat ill of her unless it was absolutely unavoidable, so it's got to be bad if he's owned up to it.
Now if only he could make the next great leap in recognition and figure out why so much repetition! -

Hi people.
I'm thinking that now might be a good time to once again note resources that have been contacted at least once about this issue. If you have a release or statement, please feel free to make use of these resources as the squeaky wheel syndrome might do us some good. The UN responded because they were inundated with contacts from interested parties (and Hawk, of course). I can only assume we're going to have to light a fire under one of these reporters by multiple contacts by many different people.Christian Science Monitor:

10 REASONS WHY JWS STAY IN THE TOWER
by Victor_E inreason 1. jws use a cultic language that keeps them in a constant state of social hypnosis.
transformational grammar teaches that our language directly affects our subjective experience.
in working with some former jws i had to confiscate certain words and have them create substitutes for something that was more neutral.

I have to throw my support in for the significance of loaded language with JWs. When I was having a talk with my witness friend I would interupt him every now and again to ask him to come up with another word instead of the one he was using ("imperfect" being the word he kept bringing up- I wonder why!!) When I asked him to use a different word instead it would momentarily stump him and you could actually detect a change from cult persona to individual persona while he struggled to come up with his own terminology. It was pretty amazing to watch. I can't say this enough...loaded language is a big deal! If you want to interupt a cult members foray into the fog, getting them to change their language, even momentarily, will be a good way to disengage their cult persona. I realize this sounds fairly dramatic but sitting back and watching the result of interupting their loaded language really hit home to me how important the cult lingo is in keeping people indoctrinated.

Blue asked "...how did this cult which violates the most basic human rights of its followers get past the NGO accreditation process so easily? Hmmmmm."
I noticed on the global policy site that Hawk listed that the Moonies have also passed four different splinter groups off as NGOs. I don't know who put the global policy site up, nor do I have the link at the moment, but clearly the UN isn't doing a bang up job of screening it's NGOs. Worse case scenario, we could consider exploiting that angle in our attempts to stir up the media. It's a bit of dirty pool, but I'm beginning to lose my patience with the thought of the United Nations reps caring only about saving face. Ah, maybe I'm just having a Monday attitude. But it's an angle.
As for John's release, a good editing should help bring it into focus. I can definitely relate to needing a solid editor to step in and help me out! I'm not entirely sure what the main grievance is, nor am I sure what the main goal is, but with a little paring here and there it should really take a nice shape.
John's efforts should be applauded. When you've got many a concern about it can be hard to pick just a few points to put out there. Good luck with this, John. Don't underestimate the power of your outrage and your desire to be heard. If enough people keep yelling somebody is going to hear! Thanks for adding another voice! Where are you going to send this? -

I'm wondering if they've since had any new light on hat tipping practices. Would tipping one's hat warrant a public or private reproof? I wonder.

I assume you are asking us what we are really doing to help educate people in general about concerns with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and the countless people who have suffered needlessly due to this so called religion.
Who am I?
Something like nobody only not like that all (sort of).I had a goal in a personal situation that has since been lost to me.
On a larger scale, I have tried to contribute to publicizing the United Nations scandal by contacting a variety of newspapers. Sadly, that has not been particularly successful either. However, I will probably continue to contribute in that manner as much as I possibly can.
I have no idea if I should hold out hope for either situation.
