  Giving Talks in the Ministry School

  anyone else here hate giving talks and refuse to do it?

  the last two years i was in the borg, i was not in the school.

  everytime the elder in charge of it approached me to "encourage" me to join again, i would have a melt down, cry and pretend i was so depressed and overwelmed that i just could not do that one thing for "jehovah", and i would act like i may commit suicide if he stresses me out over joining the school again.. i got out of it with 3 elders, in two different congregations.

  The last talk I was asked to do was something like 'Why Armageddon is not a violation of God's love'
  
  I couldn't do it.
  
  I'd already quit the school 'because of work exams' at the time as well, but got that talk anyway. I got out of that talk, and then used the work exams excuse again to stay off. (And I was doing exams for work which were taking up a lot of time)

  New arrangement for field service?

  i don't know if this is a worldwide thing because i didn't go the meeting where the arrangement was announced, but it's being done in my congregation anyway.

  during those 6 months the member assigned to the pioneer is meant to make time to work with the pioneer as much as possible, so they can strengthen each other.

  the idea is meant to be that eventually each member of the congregation will get a go.

  I don't know if this is a Worldwide thing because I didn't go the meeting where the arrangement was announced, but it's being done in my Congregation anyway.
  
  The arrangement is that they're assigning each pioneer to 1 member of the Congregation for 6 months. During those 6 months the member assigned to the pioneer is meant to make time to work with the pioneer as much as possible, so they can strengthen each other. The idea is meant to be that eventually each member of the Congregation will get a go. Goody!
  
  I don't know how long it will take the pioneers in my Congregation to get round each member. Probably about 30 years since there's only 3 pioneers and one of them's off to Kosovo or something soon.
  
  I would guess they will start with irregular ones, to 'assist' them then. Faders beware.

  Definitions of Faith

  i just had an interesting conversation, though frustrating, with a student about the subject of faith.

  i have never heard a definition for faith that i could understand.

  every conversation i have had on the subject has only fallen short of establishing what it is.

  I agree with your first post that it refers to evidence. I would suggest the reason it's given it's own word, is because it refers to a specific type of evidence.

  i tried to show it to a few jw they wouldn't set their eyes on it.

  i simily tried talking to a jw about they would not listen.

  Yes 'bite me', it's a good one to compare with Exodus 20:3
  
  Also, the Jehovah's Witnesses regularly refer to Jehovah as the true God, true is often inserted before God in brackets in some texts in the New World Translation to show they are talking about Jehovah. If Jehovah is the 'True God' then would that make Jesus a false god?

  I seen that list of questions on another site in my early doubting stage. At the time I was unsure of a few things, but that large list of questions gave me doubts in a lot more areas. It contributed a lot to my losing belief in the WTS.

  i met these folks over the weekend, and i am glad i did.

  grace got a couple of pictures of herself flanked by myself and the towering deputy dog.. i missed hearing apostate kate speak on sunday because i was only able to steal away for a few hours on saturday.. .

  i hope trevor keeps his word and pays her back, but i will be surprised if he does.

  It's a very sad story, and many of us have been hurt by it. It seems Linda 'fullofdoubtnow' was a fictional character invented by Trev, who has been posting as her for the last 2 years. She was completely the work of Trev's mind. She never had cancer, she never died, as she never lived.

  JW's use Rose colored glasses to see each other.

  have you ever noticed how jws look at each other through rose coloured glasses.

  no jw can do any wrong in the eyes of other jws.

  even when its obvious that a jw has done wrong, they are always righteous to other jw"s, as long as a jw gos to meeting and does field service then he must be right with god and therefore must be right in the eyes of others jws.

  I've found they often use rose coloured glasses for their leaders, and when referring to the Org as a whole. In general though, I think they're critical of each other.

  feelings of guilt

  as some of you are aware i am in the early stages of doubting the wts as the only channel of truth.however i am assailed by feelings of guilt.am i being seduced by the words of disgruntled witnesses or ex-witnesses or am i truly doubting !

  !maybe some of you felt this way in the early stages of your "defection" from the wts.sometimes i feel as though i am rejecting god and his organization but other times i feel so strongly that the wts has misled me and is acting to control my "loyalty" by vieled threats of destruction at armageddon.you see prior to becoming a jw i had no religious affiliations.i knew nothing about the bible or god.so for 20 yrs i have only known watchtower teachings and un-learning 20yrs of this is making me so indesicive.am i doing the right thing or not ?

  my only solace is prayer.i have prayed to god to show me in some way what the truth really is.i must admit that these prayers have been the most heartfelt i have ever said.have others felt this way and if so how did they deal with it ?i would truly appreciate some feedback.

  I was in a similar position when I came to this board. My first few posts were from the position of a Jehovah's Witness. I was doubting, but still thought it was the Truth. After more research, I no longer feel this way.
  
  If it really is 'The Truth' then it should stand up to honest investigation. You cannot argue with absolute truth, so if the Watchtower Society teaches the truth, any opposing material has to be a lie or in error. You will be able to find a reply to all or most of what the 'opposers' say, at least on any major or important doctrine in the WTS, either though the Watchtower Library CD-Rom, through the elders, or if necessary, writing a letter to the Society.
  
  Keep researching, and keep learning. Your life is at stake here, and I'm not talking about your future life in 'Paradise Earth' I mean your current life. Do you want to dedicate it to the Watchtower Society if it isn't true, if there is no future 'Paradise Earth'? If not, you need to make sure it's truth before you do.

  I also hope he gets the help he needs, and gets over his issues. It doesn't come across like he wants to seek professional help though, which is a shame.

  when i think back on the last 45 years of my life as a jw, it truly is remarkable.

  how i as an intelligent person could have believed all of the things that the wtbts.

  taught as doctrine and then for myself to teach others the same doctrine.. we could all give examples of this, however i was just sitting here drinking my coffee.

  It's sort of funny that the WT uses 'worsening world conditions' as proof of Jesus' enthronement. It makes him seem pretty inept!
