Would the world be a better place if everyone was JW?
by Gill inthe back of 'the end of false religion is near!
' leaflet makes an interesting claim that in the book 'holocaust politics' published in 2001, says : 'if more people practiced versions of what the jehovah's witnesses preach and practice, the holocaust could have been prevented and genocide would scourge the world no more.'.
do you believe that is true?

The religion couldn't really work except as a minority. How would religion be banned just before 'The End' if JW was the only religion?
But, if it did happen, as others have said, it would be a massive dictatorship with zero tolerance for any doubters, and no free speech allowed at all. It would be a horrible world to live in. -

You did raise some good points. Jehovah's Witnesses show their hypocrisy by going door-to-door asking others to examine their own faiths, but then disfellowshipping anyone in their religion who does the same.
I hope you get a reply. -

Ever fail as an Apostate?
by Dune inlast saturday i was talking to a witness relative and the subject about book studies came up.
all of the sudden, she started talking about how she was kind of bothered by the fact that we werent studying from the bible as opposed to a book during the book study.
she went onto say that people in other religions new more about the bible than witnesses, but witnesses just had head knowledge of what the society was writing in the books.

I know that feeling.
Being baptised and an active Witness, I know I'm currently unable to talk to other Witnesses about the religions problems. So I've often tried a tactic of bringing the criticisms which are on Wikipedia (Easier as it's not an apostate site) to the attention of some JW friends, but then do as you did, water down the criticism, and sometimes even try to defend it, just hoping that making the issue known (Mainly 587 and UN assoc.) to them, will influence them to research it. Sadly, it never works...
I'm not too surprised really, it's a pretty illogical method, but making known the criticisms is better than not mentioning them at all. None of them even knew there was conflict between 586/7 and 607, or that the Org had associated with the UN, so I suppose that's very little progress, but knowing that they always go away with no inclination to research the issues, or any doubt at all, is quite frustrating. -

Overheard at the S.A.D.: Only Witnesses Understand Eph. 5:28-33
by under_believer inat our special assembly day, there was a visiting speaker from bethel.
don't remember his name, but he was a humorless and austere gentleman who was very clearly a company man.
he said many questionable things, especially in the way he generalized about "the world" and "worldly ones.

How much influence did the internet have on you leaving the organization?
by The wanderer inuntitled document <!-- .style1 {font-family: verdana} .style2 {font-family: verdana; font-style: italic; } --> discoveries about the organization on the internet admittedly, had it not been for the internet, and all of the dis-.

I haven?t left yet, but I am going to leave, and it?s only because of the Internet. I didn?t even look at apostate websites originally, I was reading our Wikipedia entry, and seen the 607 criticisms, and then couldn?t help but do more research. That led me here, I asked a few questions, and then watched some of those 'debates' where the JW apologist gets destroyed by the Ex-JW when trying to argue pro-607. Seeing they couldn't argue it, I got very confused, and then I read about the Mexico/Malawi issues. Then I knew it wasn't the Truth.

Sinis,
Do you believe that Jesus was just another son of El, and that it was El who loved the world so much that he gave Jesus to die for us? -

"That I may make a reply to him that is taunting me"
by under_believer inso for our "congregation book study", we are still deeply mired in the bible teach book.
this week's lesson talks about the whole idea that the book of job relates the central issue of the entire cosmos, a vital issue raised by satan, where satan questions whether humans follow god because of what they are given, or because he deserves it.
i'm surprised that the book of job, obviously archetypal and figurative (for example, i doubt people back then literally spoke for hours in hebrew verse, and i doubt that four messengers showed up all in a row with stories telling that they, only they, got away to tell of a disaster) even has a place in the canon; aside from its lack of any specific historical position or accuracy, the argument it advances (especially as the society interprets it) is facile: the idea that privileged, wealthy, powerful job somehow stands as a representative for all humanity and serves as a litmus test for man's interaction with god is downright silly.

Thanks for this post Under_Believer. Does it say who was taunting Solomon though? And what were they taunting him about? Zico.

Do you believe that you are the only ones that will be saved?
by truthseeker inhttp://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htmdo you believe that you are the only ones who will be saved?no.
many millions who have lived in centuries past and who were not jehovah's witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life.
many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before god's time of judgment, and they will gain salvation.

Hi Truthseeker, When the DO said 'ensnared not spared' he was talking about those who were once Jehovah's Witnesses, but who had left the Organisation. (I guess that means most people here are doomed!) He never specifically said that anyone who was not a Witness would not be spared. As also pointed out in that review, he did however say that our salvation depends on meeting attendance, prayer, study and service, and that we would be judged based on our speech, conduct and attitude, which is basically saying 'Only the Jehovah's Witnesses...' Hi Chiddy,
I did not think the board rules allowed me to name the speakers?
I don't see why it would make a difference though? They all spew the same crap up there, no matter what their name.
