I suppose it is "unity at all costs," so anyone who is seen as fallen behind is left behind. Ironically, she was far ahead of the rest of the congregation. Sad, isn't it?

Perhaps "sober" and "thrifty" are translated to perscription drug addicted and selfish

Fascinating... and extremely effective on the subconscious mind. Asuming, of course, the subject has a conscious mind to begin with.

Wow, by their fruits, you will know them. I guess that is also how we remember them. Having replaced Russell so quickly, and reading extensively on his character, or lack thereof, I wonder if Russell died of natural causes?

to whom it may concern: .
your harassing inquiries into our personal affairs are not welcomed, and any further attempts at such will result in legal action against the individual harassers, the --city--, --state-- congregation of jehovah's witnesses, the watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc., the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, inc., and all associated watchower legal entities.

Very interesting indeed. I like the consise, impersonal manner of the letter. It's sort of using their own poisinous medicine against them

This guy is lying right through his teeth:
"The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, the body that directs church affairs, says there is no policy forcing members to report sinful acts or divulge private information. That choice is up to members, according to Phillip Brumley, general counsel for the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based group.
"They should study the scriptures, and what they do is up to them,'' said Mr. Brumley. If there is a conflict, he said, a member should "think that through and decide what to do.''What a typical Watchtower lapdog, using "theocratic warfare" at its best. I wonder if the people reading this article realize that if JW's lie on something as important as a medical confidentality agreement, then certainly they will lie to a reporter.

Hi Darth Frosty,
I think your comments are quite interesting, something I had not thought of before. Can you perhaps elaborate some more? For example, many people at my mom's KH are coming down with "mysterious illnesses," and there is a new trend of listening to the meetings on the phone, claiming they are not up to attending. It seems there is a class of "absentee witnesses" emerging. There are at least half a dozen people doing this every meeting. Just yesterday, a JW girl my age came into the printing shop that I work at, and was in perfect health. Today, my mom comes home from the meeting and says she has had the flu for two days and was ABSENT!
Can you or anyone else tell me what this means? Also, when the internet is not enough to awaken the most stubborn of dubs like my mom, do you know where there are any support groups in New York?
Thanks,
Anitar

How many 'real" friends did you ever really have in ther "truth'
by The Lone Ranger insure we got to know a lot of people, we knew a lot more people then the average person, but how many real friends did we ever have?

I was never a witness, but I had some friends who didn't know my mom is a witness. I was their confidant, the "worldy" person they trusted to not tell anyone about the living hell I saw them going through.
Has anybody else had a similar relationship?

Notice how they apply a picture to a paragraph, implying that all Catholic priests are like this, and that they are somehow are going to spill the beans on everyone else.
This is so ridiclous it makes me laugh. I expected nothing more, but somebody already pointed out that certain organizations they traditionally point the finger to are mysteriously absent. It sounds like they're quietly phasing out the whole UN scarlet beastie thing.
These homophobic hypocrites are only interested in covering their own war-mongering, sexually deviant "governing body." They want to bring up "sexual immorality"? For an organizaton who hates gay people, they sure keep some strange company. I'll give two words:
LEO GREENLEES!!!
Enough said. I'm sure the mention of that man's name will send many on this forum running for their barf bags
Mike, good to hear you again. You always make me think of something I never thought of before. As for any gay people reading this, JW or not, don't listen to the Watchtower, for they are not even worthy of the vomit to which the dog has returned.
Peace everyone,

Is the Internet An Answer to the JW Cliche Lament - "Where Else Can We Go?"
by Seeker4 inin his article at freeminds on when prophecies fail, about the witnesses and cognitive dissonance, randy watters wrote the following, including an insightful quote from barbara harrison grazzutti.
it may seem incomprehensible how the witnesses could ignore the implications of each disconfirmation.
outsiders view the witnesses as lacking common sense for not leaving the organization after numerous failures.

I just want to take this opportunity to reach out to all the Jehovah Witnesses who are reading this, questioning their religion, and desperate for truth. Don't be ashamed to think for yourself, don't be afraid of using the internet. Stand up for what is right, even if it means losing everyone you love.
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
We here on JWD may not have the answer, but at least we have the question.
