Actually...in MY dictionary...you are apostate if you go against any religion/cause/political views......you are apostate. So for me, to be apostate means having a change of opinion about anything in life. If you think about it a moment.......MOST who become JW's are apostate. They have left their religion to take on this cult.

The term 'apostate' - how do you feel about it?
by ballistic ini know the answer may depend on your religious views now, but how do you feel about the term "apostate".
if you are of an atheist / agnostic view since leaving the org, do you still feel a stigma attached to the word apostate or has the word completely lost it's significance.
if you have moved on to another religion, do you still believe in the concept of a 'true apostate' and would you therefore find the term offensive?

As I have mentioned to others on the net...get Norton Anti-virus. I used to have the "regular" version but still was attacked occasionally. I would suggest getting Norton Anti-Virus Professional". It scans everything you get in and everything you send out.

The Society loves its young people
by Omega Man in>do you remember at assemblies when you would hear talks on how the organization loves its young people.
by publishing a book "young people ask" this would be pretty much the extent of what they would do for it's young people.
it would be like a father saying to his kids i love you, here is a book how to live your life and never spend any time with them.

Summer camps? Are you kidding? From their point of view...if it were co-ed...things could happen over time. If it were segregated....same answer! I remember as a teenager eagerly looking forward to monthly get togethers at a rollar skating rink. Oh no, that was not allowed after a while. Now remember this was in the mid seventies. It was reasoned that ANY get together in a "worldly" environment (even though the joint was reserved just for us, it had...Oh my gosh, M_U_S_I_C). Give me a break, in our area it was well "chaperoned" and the place was reserved just for us. How could this have been a major problem? So your suggestion of a camp that would last more than 2-3 hours is totally out of the question. Uh Uh, no way!
This brings up a point I have always said. If you set out something as being bad and something to stay away from...people, being people (imperfect) they will be drawn to it. For example, I am not one for sweets...but if I am on a diet I feel like a kid in a candy store that cannot afford the sweets. Constantly setting this out there makes it more appealing, more desirable...even if this is not the person you are. If it is focused on to the extent that this is with the JW's...of course it HAS to be explored.
I feel that children that are brought up in a household that brings everything to the table, good and bad, are much better off than those that state (authoritatively) that things are bad, is a much better way to go. I truly believe in being open and honest with people, stating it, and then being there if a person makes a wrong choice. I don't believe in "demanding" compliance and then "shunning" if the person (who has human tendencies) does not follow what we demand. After all, what better way to learn than by experience?
Sorry this was so long. I don't post much but some subjects "push my buttons".

Dan said it all! And very well I might add. I AM APOSTATE. I know that, you know that, THEY know that. But it depends upon WHO says it as to how I feel about the delivery.

Circuit Leasing
by freedom96 ini thought about this when i read a thread about bethel coachtours.
this is "circuit leasing".
my understanding is that these are the cars that circuit overseers had, and were being sold to the witnesses.
-

From what I understand....this IS selling of Circuit Overseers "old" cars. I put old in parenthesis because by most standards theses are NOT old.

I would laugh in their faces and say "You can't touch this!" I have been out for 7 years next month. For years I had terrible nightmares about Armageddon. I would have daymares whenever there were monsoon storms. Here in Arizona we have them for 3 months out of the year. Since I have become more secure in my decision to leave, and more secure in the fact that they are ABSOLUTELY wrong....life is much better. Right now, I feel that the consequences of family shunning me does not matter. IF they did, I could forgive because they are just as misinformed as I was while I was in.
Which brings up another point. I see so many who want to get their families out, no matter what. I WANT my family out and would host a huuuuuuuuuuugggggggeeeeeeeee party if it happened. But I have come to learn in my heart that no matter what....no matter how insane....no matter how "out there" a religion is...I feel it is not wrong. If something brings you closer to God and makes you a better person for it...That is all God asks for.

Maybe we could also "suggest" that Connie's husband Maury Povich (sp) tries to do a show on this. Because of the lack of cable for some...we missed Connie's piece. But Maury is on regular television and probably has a larger audience. Just a thought.
