I totally agree dungbeetle. From what my husband said today...he can now get a web adress for as little as $4/yr. for a one year contract. If he signs up for 2 years it is $14.95 for the second year. This sure beats the $70/yr we have been spending for the past 4-5 years. Free is good, but it does have its limitations.

Bleep, I was going to go back to all the forums you have had some dealings with...but found it too much trouble. So...I just decided to go with my initial reaction.
I agree that it is a good thing to have hope. But if it comes to false hopes, as has been demonstrated to many of us on this board by the Society...it is a bad thing.
Let's go back in history a bit.
Where would we be... if Henry Ford hadn't hoped that there was an easier mode of travel than by foot or by the health of an animal (horse).
Where would we be... without the hopes of Edison when he dreamed about the lightbulb, the phonograph or moving pictures?
How about... where would we be without the hopes of Alexander Graham Bell when he created the telephone system?
Think about it...if it weren't for the "hopes" of most of these individuals...we would not be able to have an exchange of ideas, whether intelligent or not, right here on our own PC's.

Americans take a poll/Pledge of Allegiance
by Wendy inhey all.
i have been pretty busy this past week, and have not kept up with all the topics here.
i wanted to see what americans or others feel about the new ruling on the pledge of allegiance being illegal in schools.

What I think should happen is that the Pledge goes back to what it was before 1954 (I think). Before "In God we trust" was put in. I personally think that showing allegience (sp) to our country is a good thing. For me, to show allegience to the flag is the same thing as showing support for our country, which by the way, is not just the Government. I think that if more people showed a "pride" of where they lived and supported...maybe there would be a "neighbor" feel that promotes love among our neighbors.

Does being called an 'apostate' upset you?
by wholewheat indo all of you ex-jehovah's witnesses get upset when you are called an apostate?
you all call each other apostates, so why should you all get upset if i call you apostates?
if you don't like being called 'apostate', what title would you prefer?
-
DazedAndConfused
I agree with everyone here...it depends upon "who calls me an apostate and why. Just to add to the
"N" analogy and the "blonde" analogy...being a woman I can take, from another woman "It's a woman
thang" much better than I can take it from a man...or to go even farther...I would rather be called
a "b****" by a woman than a man.
From what I have looked up in the pages of the WTS's publication and what I have seen in the
"secular authorities" definition I would like to re-post what I had posted back in November
regarding this: "JW definition:
""Reasoning Book, copyright 1985:
"Astostasy is abandoning or deserting the worship and service of God, actually a rebellion
against Jehovah God. Some apostates profess to know and serve God but reject teachings or
requirements set out in his Word. Others claim to believe the Bible but reject Jehovah's
organization."
Websters Dictionary, copyright 1998:
"a) a total desertion of or departure from one's religion, cause, party, etc."
If you think about it, almost everyone alive is apostate to something. All the ones that left
their original religion to become a JW is apostate. As is anyone who goes from being Democrat
to Republican (party). Or, as in my case, I am apostate because I no longer put my garbage into the
recycle bin (cause). Anyone disfellowshipped is also apostate.
When I was in the Borg I thought that all apostates were actively working against the Society
it never entered my mind about them working against Jehovah, only the Society). But by the
Websters definition everyone who does not do what they once did, is apostate. Interesting.""

From what I am reading, my gut reaction is that you are feeling a loss of power. I think you are losing your sense of self due to this persons overbearing ways.

1.
they don't come to my help
To me this indicates that his behavior is causing you to feel insecure in all aspects of your life. Not only do you feel that he is sucking you dry, so to speak, it seems that you feel that others see this but do not do anything to help.

2.whistling "Aloha Oe" a traditional Hawaiian farewell song
I think this is indicating that you realize that by his behavior you are losing yourself or self confidence.

3. This one has a 3-point thought:

a)turned his car lights towards my car
I feel that the fact he points his lights toward what he is doing indicates that you feel he realizes what he is doing to you.

b)and is slashing my tires
;I see this as you feeling that what he is doing to you as being a deliberate attack upon you because he knows he can get to you.

c)He sees me and starts walking towards me
;This goes along with my last thoughthe realizes what he is doing to youbut in this aspect of the dream you are showing that you feel that you are being confronted with his actions by design (that he is doing this to definitely intimidate you).

4. This is two-fold:

a)R has convince the pilot to leave early. I'm stranded in Arkansas overnight
;Again, loss of self or power.

b)Upset, I begin crying and I wake up
;As your dreams are progressing, I see that you are feeling more desperate due to this inconsiderate fools actions.

While I can see a natural progression in your dreams I cannot for a certainty tell you how to deal with this. What I would suggest is to find out why. Why does he do this? Is it because he is in general an ass or is it because you are better at your job than he is and you intimidate him, therefore causing his own insecurities to bully you?Edited by - DazedAndConfused on 27 June 2002 15:50:45

I would be most interested in HOW to backtrack to a certain "sender" of such things as a virus. Especially after the Dateline show, I got many attempts to put a virus on my machine whenever I came to this site (and other XJW sites). How does one track?

The best I can come up with...aside from being very proud to live in America is this example:
After the 9/11 attack upon the U.S. there were the media interviewing the people of Pakistan. First off...they blasted the U.S. as far as their policies, and their "materialistic" lifestyle. But the question that most intrigued me was:
"If you had a choice...where would you choose to live?"
The interesting answer was:
"In the U.S."
How can you hate everything that we stand for, yet yearn to live here?

From what I understand 20 years old is the oldest you can file a complaint. That sucks for people like me. I knew something was wrong at 16, having a dual personality, but the reason did not come up until I was 28 and the "full" reason, not until I was about 30!
